Annotated 49-21
That expression on panel 6 HR gets me every time. “I just…I just wanted to give another big villain speech.” Even now, even now, he’s still trying to force the Arkerran Five into a narrative that justifies his sense of his own importance, and they are just. Not. Having. It.
I’m glad we got one more “KA-___” sound effect in as we wrapped things up. That was probably my fav of our early running gags.
FB:
“If I can just get that promotion,” thinks the office worker…
“If I can just get a girlfriend,” thinks the teenager…
“If I can just become an eldritch, realm-consuming abomination,” thinks the CEO…
“…everything in my life will be under control, and I’ll never have to worry again.”
I see that Byron took some Tae Kwan Leap lessons.
Attacking in the middle of the cutscene! How rude is that?
to be honest, I wonder how he managed to get that far into his new manifestation before anyone intervened. In the last panel on the previous page, there was still a lot of … purple matter crawling around, and really no good reason for the Five to not attack the thing in the middle with everything they had. This thing seems a lot weaker than what was there before, but experience teaches us that this might not last, so better overkill it as much as possible, as fast as possible.
I can already tell what was he aiming for with that starting “hello”: “You’ve done well to reach this far yadda yadda surpassed my expectations yadda yadda nevertheless you’ve forced my hand yadda yadda the true power of a god yadda yadda so this is goodbye yadda yadda well played.”
Oh. I thought that was bigger than it actually was.
Haha the veiny HR mutache, nice touch!
I appreciate the Byron/Best teamwork here.
