Annotated 49-44
FB: Narrator: “Shanna had often wished that Xan would just get a haircut already, but not like this.”
By far the most interesting thing on this page to analyze is that HR’s power has begun to extend more forcefully into Sepia World. The purple protomatter that he’s used to make his servants and his body is coming for Shanna and Xan, who unlike Carol seem pinned to the ceiling. Why them and not Carol? Maybe some lingering feeling in HR that Carol was special to him…if not precious, at least useful? Could be, but I wouldn’t ascribe much of a plan to HR’s actions at this point. It’s just as likely that Shanna and Xan got caught in one “current” of antigravity and Carol didn’t.
That’s a pretty good Best-stanza from Flo, there.
Basic tabletop RPG tactic. When skit hits the plan, just throw stuff at the situation until it solves itself somehow…
“Well… You just had them with you. Okay?”
“But the bag won’t hold that much…”
“You fething have them! Okay?! Just go with it.”
Fething… heh, that’s a word I haven’t seen in a hot minute. Is that Tannith First or am I crossing streams with a different Commissar’s adventures?
It’s the First. Fell in love with the word the moment I saw it. Such simplicity and yet it just works.
The Bag of Holding would have been a game-changer during any of their regular adventures. It’d be a total Deus Ex Machina if it hadn’t been mentioned in the beginning.
OH! I guess I hadn’t noticed the subtle desintegrator/transmutation beams the first time around, I think? Because I can’t remember feeling like these guys were in actual danger, just plain scared (which would have been totally understandable, given their situation). I wonder if Shana and Xan would be just killed, or if they would somehow be “pulled” into Arkerra? The relationship between the two worlds seems… What’s the word… Transactional? In suh a way that could be a possibility.
My knee-jerk interpretation of “why not Carol” is she’s being taken for granted.
