Annotated 7-21
Phil was not so sure about Frigg using her sexuality to further rattle her opponents, and for the plot, it’s not strictly necessary. But in terms of her character, I felt that Frigg would use whatever blunt instrument she could lay hands on that was likely to do the most damage.
The fact that she’s appealing to the laws of thermodynamics is the real “never thought I’d see it” moment.
Phil’s reluctance wasn’t prudishness, that much I can testify: if anything, I was the prude in our group. In fact, he and Erica were working on a submission (ultimately unpublished) to the anthology Smut Peddler around the time this page was drawn.
This was in character for Frigg imo. This kind of “psychological warfare” is the closest she can get to violence without actually smacking someone around and she’s not the one to feel shame or hold back.
“Laws of thermodynamics”? You mean the laws of motion, right?
I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed.
I imagined a plunger on a detonator and what it might cause to happen and then I stopped caring whether the reference was accurate.
Now the fact that you bring up the whole issue here would show to some just how “prude” you are.
Innuendos and implications are completely fine. People going all over themselves off-screen is characterful and at times unneeded as well. But sadly nowadays the “hinting” at something” is usually boobs or dick on the table “because it’s how their character is”.
Personally I’m fine with how Frigg goes about this. It’s very much “in her character”. Even her fooling around with Best works and it’s not flaunted for the reader as it would be in a number of other comics.
Really, when you start offering bare skin “because she’s an agile warrior” or such horsehockey as is traditional… You’ve run out of things to offer…
Now the fact that you bring up the whole issue here would show to some just how “prude” you are… I mean, if you say so, but I’m pretty sure I was just trying to do the behind-the-scenes view that readers of commentary normally like. If it was something we argued about during the process, I usually mention it whether it’s sex or semicolons.
*laughs* You should hang out more with philosophy majors. With us, it’s “and,” not “or.”
Unless that’s logically impossible, of course.
She got diplomacy figured out fast. Speak softly and caress a big dick.
Somewhere, a rough rider is standing erect again…
