What low spirits! Bandit is obviously at a low point in her life. Nobody wants to see you sink to this level Bandit! Hopefully you can hit rock bottom soon if you have to keep going downward and then come back into the light.
I do love when the comic gets all deep with it’s characters like this.
Eh puns get you little recognition round here typically, because we’re so dense with em. Punytive actions weren’t really required for punning too much. As long as they stick to a smaller amount of puns per post they should be fine.
Exactly. Bandit sticks out like a tiny sore thumb with that bandit hood. She should be wearing a colorful, pointed hat and embroidered vest in order to fit in.
Yeah. Sort of makes all that theorising that she was actually an NPC used by the Maintainers to keep track and to manipulate the game we did seem unlikely.
Hell, this is some magical portal into a computer generated otherworld run on silicon and sigils. I don’t see why AI/ensoulment should be so impossible.
I keep looking for some bleedover from one world to the other, but Kingdoms of Arkerra persists in its internal consistency. I expected some cracks to appear with the introduction of the B Team, but so far, they seem to act and think as if they are as fully enmeshed into this world as the originnal characters.
At this point, I suppose I’ll just let the next twist really surprise me.
So, do all gnomes just naturally enjoy those silly floppy cone hats? If so, can we expect bandit to make true on her word to steal syr’nj like, a million hats?
In film (the fancy movies), the z-axis is considered to be front to back, and the x- and y-axes maintain their Cartesian orientation. Geometrically, your interpretation would be right, but since this is written and drawn by artistic types, I assume they’d use the more artistic interpretation. The preceding is what happens when you major in media production and in math.
Thank you. Gnome has always been my favorite fantasy race, I have always related to them best. It was always my great dismay that Gnomeregan was a dungeon and not a city. And when they finally delivered on the ancient promise of “taking it back,” nothing of the sort was involved. You and High Tinker Mekkatorque go fight a spiderbot tank with some guy in it on a hill and Mekkatorque assures you that the victory has some truly symbolic significance in the ongoing war against Thermaplugg:
Some guy in a robot armor suit that is topplable by the level 30 range. Unconquerable, a challenge completely unable to be arsed into change, and yet we have motherfuckers running around dethroning Lich Kings.
A little consistency is all we’re asking for. That, and for the Gnomes to have some fucking dignity for like five fucking seconds. Is that too much to ask, Blizz?
When you’re alone and life is making you lonely, you can always go…
Downtown!
When you’ve got worries all the noise and the hurry seems to help, I know.
Downtown!
Whoa, lovely place. I wish I lived there. Surface or underground, I really don’t care. I keep remembering Neil Gaiman’s ‘Neverwhere’ also, for some reason… wich only makes it more awesome.
Capital of the lucrative and immoral underground fish trade.
Something smells fishy about this.
We’ll have to look deep below the surface.
Nice plaice.
Bandit is just trolling for clues.
I don’t wanna carp on, but I’ve got a feeling she’s gonna run into some heavy mussel soon if she’s not careful.
Well she should be able to net some information if she’s careful, but if she gets caught I’ll hope for catch and release.
Do those Fish Mongers work for scale?
Don’t you mean “trawling”? ;-)

Really, if you’re trying so hard, it tends to undermine the humour :)
If you try to build up too much you’ll get cut down. It’s easier just to to keep a low profile.

All I can think of now is slurs used against dwarves in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld works.
DEMERIT.
Don’t hog all the puns. Let your fellow commenters play as well!
That was a little underhanded, Phil. Don’t bury a punster’s hopes so readily.
No no, he has a point. I feel like crawling into a hole right now, but when i surface I won’t mine these things so intensely.
Gold Star.
Better prospects as an astronomer than a miner.
Those gnomes would look great in a garden.
Exactly. Bandit sticks out like a tiny sore thumb with that bandit hood. She should be wearing a colorful, pointed hat and embroidered vest in order to fit in.
Santa elf carrying red fabric.
You cannot unsee it.
So this is why all the pluming is top side.
It must stink with all the fish and enclosed space in there…
So . . . Bandit has an inner dialog. Interesting . . . .
Yeah. Sort of makes all that theorising that she was actually an NPC used by the Maintainers to keep track and to manipulate the game we did seem unlikely.
Unlikely but not altogether impossible!
Hell, this is some magical portal into a computer generated otherworld run on silicon and sigils. I don’t see why AI/ensoulment should be so impossible.
Alternatively, cut scene with voice over.
that or her human player is a good RPer.
Obviously you haven’t spent much time on RP servers.
Why, are there good RPers there?
DOHOHOHOHOHO.

Two rival fishmongers with stands directly opposite each other. In two minutes this webcomic is going to become FISH WARS.
It would only be a matter of time before one of them called in Gralor…
like this?
YES
Only with fewer rules and more fish being thrown. And lots more name-calling.
Actually, I want to see a fishmonger having a stall across from a blacksmith.
You just won my heart with that comment. Allow me to sing a song in appreciation!
Was the title text supposed to read “negative Z-axis,” or are we assuming a nonstandard orientation for coordinates?

This is not the first time my filmic leanings has caused confusion. Certainly not the last.
This beats Gnomeregan in terms of character by miles.
+1
+1 million

I drew a gnome the other day.
Is that gnome eyeing someone’s nuts?
She is seen something she likes apparently at about eye level.
So many garden gnomes.
I spotted Wally.
But our friendly Bandit isn’t wearing yellow!
Certainly not without limited headroom.
Just noticed this now: the mother with the bag and the child. The reversal of the colors of their clothes is a nice, cute touch. Thumbs up!
So many lawns we could protect…
One Fishmonger, Two Fishmonger.
Red Fishmonger, Blue Fishmonger.
Very good, Timelost. I wondered if anyone would notice that.
Oh, a general note. The art in that last panel is awesome. I’ve done this enough now to know that it must have taken a loong time to draw.
I certainly didn’t notice!
John, you continue to rule.
So they’re like the Crips and the Bloods of fishmongering?
Only if Doctor Seuss was a gangster.
That has to be the world’s biggest black market.
When you’re alone and life is making you lonely, you can always go…
Downtown!

Downtown Girl, she’s been robbing in her downtown world…
Loverly.
There’s gnome place like home.
Whoa, lovely place. I wish I lived there. Surface or underground, I really don’t care. I keep remembering Neil Gaiman’s ‘Neverwhere’ also, for some reason… wich only makes it more awesome.
Just a question: “Emulation?” Are we going to have to deal with emus now?
That’d be negative _Z-axis_, dude. them X/Y’re for the s’face
Sorry for the late comment, kind catching up.
