Power corrupts. I think Rachel is a good counter-example, however, and Frigg is not so bad because she stubbornly fights for people’s freedom of choice.
What makes you think the power in question is ‘holy,’ apart from it glowing white? In this world’s physics, a particular sort of righteous anger produces a particular sort of magical energy, which, with appropriate training, can be used to break shit. Has it ever been used to heal? Did Rachel even think it could be?
People assume there’s a moral dimension to it, but they think there’s a moral dimension to firearms and knives and such in the real world too. People are weird that way.
It’s probably focus based. So a Zealot for country or faith can probably weild it most effectively. And becoming less sure of self or purpose causes it to wane.
That makes sense, because religion is a matter of BELIEF. Even someone as non-religious as Frigg has the belief that her power works. Religion is just one way of focusing power, just as a mage’s knowledge of spell effects is a different type of focus.
As we have seen before, Frigg doesn’t need the belief that her power works for her power to work. I agree with Mrknifey (below) that the wielders of the glowy power seem to be some kind of paladin. Therefore I think you really could call the power “holy” (@ John).
i figure its a bit like the paladin classs; its not what you beleive in, but how strongly you believe it. and perhaps a little bit of deity intervention for some special cases.
also seems reflective of the users personality; with friggs power more so just to “break shit up”, and hestia likes to “burn things”. i see no reason why there wouldnt be a person with the ability to heal, though odds are they would be a pretty passive personality.
Overly religious people tend to be more hypocritical than you think.
Especially if they happened to be blindly following the insane close-minded uneducated rambling of Fred Phelps like cattle queuing up to the slaughterhouse by which I meant as a metaphor for not going to heaven unless they learn to open their eyes and take a good look at themselves for once and repent before they would doom themselves into believing their own lies.
Personally, I feel it is the first of those two options. By her reaction I believe Tamara didn’t know her sisters in red were backsliding into their… old habits, shall we say?
Is it possible that Frigg is hogging all the light? I don’t feel like that makes sense, considering it’s basically omnipresent and unlimited, but Hestia seems to think that Frigg and the power-dimming are connected.
I knew Frigg would hit dat.
Well of course. She hits on anything that breathes. And doesn’t breath too. Yeah, she’ll hit on pretty much anything as long as it good time ahead.
she did it all for the XP.
You could say she’s.. really frigg’d things up.
Yep, Frigg would tap anything…Some things harder than others.
The first great rule of superhero team ups.
Two nuns enter, two more nuns enter, another one joins the fray… sorry I lost track. What was I saying?
Something about another nun bites the dust, I would imagine.
aaand another nun’s gone and another nun’s gone, another nun bites the dust!
Hey, Frigg’s gonna get you too! Another nun bites the dust!
How’d you think you’d get along
Without her when she was gone?
Try to stick a little prick in her
She’ll try to break your bones
Are you happy? Are you satisfied?
Can your sisters stand the heat?
Out of her mace holy magic rips
She will pound: she will beat!
Nun, nun, nun.
Another nun bites the dust!
Very nice! Let’s do all the greatest hits! See the linked website for Arkerran Rhapsody.
Two nuns, a mercenary, and a wizard enter a bar. The bartender looks up and asks, “What is this, somebody’s idea of a joke?”
Looks like a Friggin’ fight until nun remains but the remains of nuns.
I just noticed … Scipio’s pants have a trap door, like old timey long underwear.
Oh, and Rachel’s being kidnapped.
On the contrary, I think Tamara just pulled her out of the fire.
Either that or shes about to give her a german suplex
I’m thinking Tamara goes for the suplex while Sister Firepalm tries to roast the boys.
Have you ever tried to take off your platemail to take a dump?… not that I have.
You haven’t?
Ehhhhh…
;)
That’s lamellar, not plate! :P
/nerdrage
+52 xp for the critical armour knowledge check:D
From their first mention, I knew these nun puns would be a bad habit.
Nun shall pass.
E-merl’s got a shit-slapping fist forming, there.
It looks like I spoke too soon, with regards to Frigg’s “restrained” response.
that IS frigg being restrained;)
And there are times when Frigg SHOULD be restrained…
Remember that dude who killed Brunhilde and took out Sundar’s eye?
So in this world, you have to either be some sort of stuck-up prick (or a stubborn, relentless curmudgeon) to wield holy power?
I like to call it Fay magic, as in “F*@k All Y’all” magic.
…
…To me, it sounds like that pun is Freya around the edges…
…
Power corrupts. I think Rachel is a good counter-example, however, and Frigg is not so bad because she stubbornly fights for people’s freedom of choice.
Except for E-merl’s. She only fights for his freedom to choose her.

Maybe it’s righteous indignation. Maybe Frigg has to be angry, and believe that the person she’s fighting deserves a good smiting.

Not to point out the obvious, but their habits are red, and yours is white. Wouldn’t you think … something… might be wrong here?
Are you saying they have bad habits?
Funny how most of the accusations of Blair apply equally to themselves.
Funnier still is how oblivious she is to that.

WELL THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY
Sure, blondie, go and set the ground on fire.
It’s not like you’re in a field full of dry grass and other dry plantations or anything.
Oh, I bet it’s “magical fire” – the kind that only does what you want it to, and never gets out of control.
I’m more a fan of regular-fire, myself :/
I bet it’s the latter. The inclusion of the dry field and surroundings seem too intentional for this comic to just happen.
…You like fanning the flames?…
Aren’t they right next to a cornfield? That they need to not starve? Seriously bonehead maneuver.
I welcome this page. I was worried there would be more pages of the Red Nuns just standing around, being all passive-aggressive with their words.
Is Tamara rescuing Rachel from the Ground-Fire, or is Tamara about to do some swanky wrestling move on her?
Personally, I feel it is the first of those two options. By her reaction I believe Tamara didn’t know her sisters in red were backsliding into their… old habits, shall we say?
Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Considering how the Sisters have been expressing their religion, I’m surprised they chose red habits over black & blue…with red welts.
Thank you, Sister Exposition! Now I finally understand Frigg’s place in your religion; she’s an important prophet, but not the Messiah.
Woo!! Finally. I got my Frigg Smash fix.
Come on, Frigg, her AC shouldn’t be very high in that habit.
Bracers of Armor.
Nah, more likely that she’s a dodge-tank.
It seems old habits die hard.
Just have to hit them even harderer
well, THAT escalated quickly
Youtube Paul and Storm’s Pay Per View Nun Fight.
Is it possible that Frigg is hogging all the light? I don’t feel like that makes sense, considering it’s basically omnipresent and unlimited, but Hestia seems to think that Frigg and the power-dimming are connected.
i think more a “straying from the one true path” thing;)
How can she stray from the path that she is laying with ever footprint to peoples’ facebone?
Let the hate flow through you, drive you, empower you.
Beware the light that dims. When the Frigg calls nun shall save you.
When this fight is over, Frigg offers to buy a round for everyone at the Kraken Skulls Tavern.
I take back what I said about the comic itself not re-using shitty old puns. ¬_¬
