Frigg is to the Guild like…
Dan Blocker (Hoss) was to “Bonanza”
Polly Holliday (Flo, “kiss my grits”) was to “Alice”
Barbara Feldon (99) was to “Get Smart”
i.e., even though they weren’t the headliner stars of their series, the shows could not survive their loss….
My little way of saying – Frigg better be all right!
They actually hint pretty heavily that there is something hinky about his miraculous resurrection. And he doesn’t know about it. My guess is either a clone or a test subject for reanimation superpowers.
S’funny… I’m a little unnerved by the fact that we cannot see Frigg’s face in the last panel. AND (as someone pointed out recently), things must be quite serious if Scipio is doing so much talking.
…
I do like his character development. We’ve been getting sneak peeks for a long time, now. It’s really nice to finally see such an intelligent, layered reveal.
Ok, I feel like a total idiot now. Everyone’s making jokes about E-Merl and fire and I was completely baffled until I finally scrolled back up and WOW, how did I miss the palmful of fire?? I blame the 3 hours of sleep -.-
I too often focus too hard on the text without taking time to take in the art, but I’ve stumbled across a way “around” this problem. I often have trouble with GA pages loading completely over my connection so I right click and view the image alone so it can load without the rest of the page interfering, and my browser then usually shrinks the page to fit in one screen height before I click to zoom in and read. Anyway, the unexpected upside of this is that I get a moment to just stare at the whole and take in the art before jumping in and reading. I didn’t expect it, but there really are some aspects of comic page-harmony (especially colors) that are better seen from farther away. I guess that’s why (quality) printed comics tend to be “just better” than the same ones viewed on a screen.
Oh I see Merl is going through that QTE where he needs to left-click really fast in order to use the igni sign flamy thingie to burn through the ropes. There’s even a blind magic user present though not nearly as hot.
Those freaky sun flowers reflect Rachel’s mood well I’d say.
Not that kind of guy ? Wanna bet he is ? To put it like John put it : “When you’re pushed, killing is as easy as breathing.” And there, if E-Merl hasn’t been pushed, I don’t know what will.
It took me a few moments to correctly take in the second panel. So spiritsbane was used on Rosita too, and Tamara knows…
‘at war against monsters’ they say, yet seemingly blind to the monstrousness of their own actions. Or maybe just hypocritical. In any case, strange. What the heck do they think they’re fighting /for/? What do they claim the difference is between themselves and their enemies?
Well if all you want is unity, I guess it makes sense to have something in common with your opponent so as to help reconcile with them. Tendency to backstab each other doesn’t seem like the best trait to take on, though.
I guess this kinda seals the meaning of the chapter’s title; these gals are indeed heartless. I hope, though, that they will eventually meet other good-natured ones like Rachel (or even like Frigg, but much rather Rachel).
Heartless but not irrational: apparently they see the need for an iron fist to stand up against “monsters like Scarlett and her friends in the heads of houses”. Dictator vs dictator is rarely good for the people whichever way it plays out.
My guess is that they are sort of a spot between the Adventurer’s Guild and the World Rebellion. The World Rebellion looks at the corruption and lies that Gastonia has brought to the land and wants every human wiped off the world. The Adventurer’s Guild is trying to change Gastonia into something more popular from the inside, knowing that it is mostly the people in power who are causing most of the problems, willingly or not. The Sisters are mix some of column A and B, mainly they know the Heads of Houses are a problem and they want to wipe them from the face of the world.
Man, they don’t know a thing about taking hostages. You don’t leave the hostage’s arms free when you tie them up, hon. They have this squirrelly tendency to, you know, free themselves.
(They “they” in question being the nuns. Not the webcomic artists who are brilliant and awesome and genius-level in their thinking and most likely have a cunning reason for why E-Merl had his arms free and oh yeah forgot also humble…)
As a Christian, I practice what is preached. And yes, I tried the “love your neighbour” thing as Tsapki and Averant described, but it got me arrested. I forgot that it’s not masturbation if you try it on someone else…
That was a very practical illusion: groaning and pretending to be trying hard to not look beaten hard by joking about his disarming wit (yay, WIFOM!). It’s kinda sweetly ironic because that wit “disarmed” her ability to see the need for tying him up as well, while his dis-armed state made him seem convincingly incapacitated.

Good page. Paced well. Multiple perspectives, both physical and emotional. I’m liking Scipio’s tough love routine.
Indeed. Still waters run deep.
C’mon E-Merl light their fire, set field on fire!
Try to set the night on fire! Their love become a funeral pyre!
He just wants to make his own contribution to their heated argument.
I choose to take the alt-text literally. Those shorts and all, y’know.
They’re comfy and easy to wear!
Who the heck is Scarlett?
I think Mother Scarlett who lead the BloodShot Eye. One sec… yes, that was her, Mother Scarlett.
The problem with people asking questions really only flares up..
When it’s Nun-dere bidness.

My little way of saying – Frigg better be all right!
Alan Tudyk (Hoban ‘Wash’ Washburne) was to Firefly
Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson) was to The Avengers
Wait… that’s not setting a good precedent, never mind.
Coulson isn’t dead he got his own Shit going on now
Was about to bring that up but you beat me to it. :-) Looks like it’s gonna be good, too, especially with Joss at the helm.
Spoiler alert!!!!!!
They actually hint pretty heavily that there is something hinky about his miraculous resurrection. And he doesn’t know about it. My guess is either a clone or a test subject for reanimation superpowers.
I think it’s the first option. Tahiti isn’t that magical…
Oh it’s quite simple, really. They just injected him with Benedict Cumberbatch’s blood. Oh wait…
He’s an LMD baby! Straight outa SHIELD’s classic playbook. That’s my prediction
S’funny… I’m a little unnerved by the fact that we cannot see Frigg’s face in the last panel. AND (as someone pointed out recently), things must be quite serious if Scipio is doing so much talking.

HOURS of discussion before I murdered her, that’s quite enough time for a reasonable judgement!
To a child, hours seem like eternity.
Perfect face to go along with your text
E-Merl didn’t start the fire, it was always burning since the world’s been turning…
100 badass points to E-Merl for cracking jokes during a hostage situation with him as the hostage.
bonus points for doing the above with a broken arm.
Well… he didn’t brake the leg.
You guys are missing the point! E-merl prepunned us all! It’s the end of days!
And now a Magician versus a Monk and two Clerics! Place your bets!
Odd grps 2 da left…
theres a million to one chance of him wining so hes pretty much guaranteed an amazing victory
Come on Scip, you need to get her proper angry.

Gah! I wrote that in a somewhat stupid sounding manner. (heck even this right here — whyyy?) I blame the five hours of sleep ;)

How long before E-merl performs a full party wipe on the nuns with a magic ambush? probably never, he’s not that kind of guy

They’re fighting fire with fire I guess. Send a maniac to kill a maniac.
Speaking of which, I’m hoping for (though not quite expecting) an epic fire fight between E-merl and Hestia soon.

Loving all others equally … what a complete load of bollocks.
Christianity is unfortunately loaded with impossible standards like that. Seriously, try loving your neighbor as you love yourself for a week.
I would love to, but he doesn’t seem to appreciate me breaking into his house at night to snuggle up with him… :(
XDDD
As a Christian, I practice what is preached. And yes, I tried the “love your neighbour” thing as Tsapki and Averant described, but it got me arrested. I forgot that it’s not masturbation if you try it on someone else…
…
Too far?
beat me to the joke
Aaand in breaking news: E-merl is embarking on the process of orcheo-augmentation, colloquially known as “growing a pair”.
Maybe E-Merl created an illusion to make Blair believe she has binded him well.
They didn’t tie his arm down.

Hmmm. I don’t think it matters whether she loves him or not, per se – just. That she commits to a belief and keeps it. :/
