Bold prediction: HR magically makes everyone switch sides, all the Gastonia volunteers go mad and join the cultists. (Everyone other than the Five and their direct associates, of course.) Then Byron has to let himself go berserk and kill them all so that Bandit & co. have a chance to make it to the portal. Then they decide to stay anyway, and stick needles in him once he’s killed almost everyone.
Something that just occurred to me. Byron is the only one of the Test Tube Five that is part of the cultist hunting party. So if he didn’t get there last would he have noticed that Lecterus ran up to everyone shouting like that as soon as they stepped out of the portal? (As Players Characters whose players are actually aware they are playing a game, the others would find nothing odd about that.)
I wonder if he’s ever dinged himself in the head with that lamp.
hat wouldn’t be bright…
The lamp is concealing his quest-giver icon.
Well, he is holding a huge quest hook there.
can’t see his pupils…he must be the cultist spy leading them into the trap ;)
Admittedly, this is less casualties than they were probably expecting.
That alt text, oh my god
Would it be better if he had yelled out that they were serving Redrum at the tavern?
What, just one?
Honestly, Diogenes?
DUM DUM DUUUUUUM!
Well said.
Worst part.. they murdered the town’s quest giver. No one can solve the crime, because no one can get flagged for the quest.
“Who as murdered?”
Lectrus then falls face first into the dirt, a half dozen daggers embedded in his back.
“Oh..err…ouch.”
“That’s impossible. I wasn’t even there yet! …Wait, I mean…no. What, a murder?”

Only one?
“Wait…just one? Is it, like, a super murder?”
Plot relevant murder.
The hovertext! I’m still laughing!
It’s the small things… XD
I like his dramatic pause.

why the heck is the lamp lit when he announces the murder?
This observation is significant.
