Looked to me as she stuck the landing at a dead sprint, used Byron as the springboard and kept going as if she never had any intention of slowing down at all.
The needle does actually seem to be stuck in him in panel eight, he just takes out out again soon after.
The fact that he took it out suggests it at least does something, even if it didn’t instantly stop the berserking. I think he has so many demons right now that the shot wasn’t powerful enough to stop him, but if there was a timer over him showing how like this berserk session was, I think it just took a sharp drop and the aforementioned demons are rather unpleased with this.
“HHAAAUUUUGGGHH!” in various translations:
Jokerish: “Leaving so soon, toots? I liked you, too – you STICK to the POINT! HAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAAA”
DocOckman: “Impetuous interloper! How dare you meddle in my plans, and all for naught!”
SilenceLambish: “It stops its’ sticking with the pin or else it gets the axe again!”
JackieMasonic: “Oy, dat goil! Such a pain in the neck!”
WW2movienazism: “Gott in Himmel! Dummkurzenzopfschussgebenmeister!”
princessbridish: “My name, Byron Berzerker. You pricked my collar. Prepare to die.”
Rambo-ese: “Bandit? … I’m comin’ to get you!”
I say she not only stuck the landing but pushed his button as well. Fantastic demonstration of Bandit’s expertise. I just hope she sticks the second landing and gets the hell up to somewhere halfway safe where she can evaluate the situation.
How can you tell given we never see her thumb on the top? Seems like if she had injected it, the artist would have shown that in the panel she sticks him with it.
In panels 2 & 5, their are two lines representing the area between the button and the syringe base. In the last two panels, their is only one line representing that area, which seems to indicate that the button was pressed.
Could be, but the only thing we know for sure about the blocker is that it nullified the cure that Byron already had inside him. Another explanation could be that Byron is host to lots of orange cyber-beasties now, and one syringe may only be good for one of them.
This being the case, it’ll probably take one or more shots to make Byron lose his edge… http://instantrimshot.com/
It may even take several shots to counteract against all of those extra demons juicing him up.
I feel like Byron’s technically dead, just like the guy with the guts all hanging out on the last page, and the only “life” in him is simply those orange Cyberia beasts. So maybe it doesn’t work on dead people. or maybe just because there are so MANY of the things in Byron, since we saw the shot worked on that other cultist leader guy.
Brother Tom’s head was nearly on backwards prior to his injection from Bandit. So I think it’s safe to rule out death as being a reason for the shots failure.
Another question… Is Byron actually berserking here? If he’s dead, it’s just a violent possession. It could just be the art (for the fact the demons have infected him and he’s berserking), but he looks different than when he’s been in previous berserker rages.
uh…
Okay, I do not honestly see any way this can turn out at all well for..um..anyone.
There better be one BIG damn Deus-Ex on the way, otherwise I’m not sure how this won’t be The End.
I know I’m a stickler for details so I hope you will not think I’m a prick for it, but this need’ll not go unsatisfied: Did Byron drop one of his axes in that last panel? far from me to skew the diagnostic of the battle, but if he did then we might see a sharp drop in his fighting capabilities. this might yet innoculate some hope in our heroes, but they’ll have to get to the point quickly if they wish to make use of this opportunity, and pierce thru his madness to bring back the old byron. I’m goign to take a jab at predicting that Syrin’j will play a vital part here :P
If Byron in a berserk state is capable of striking vital anatomical weak points, I’m sure he’s capable of temporarily putting one of his axes in his other grasp to crush the thing.
Sheesh. Yet another anti-vaccination extremist.
Best comment ever.
Well Bandit was kinda trying to induce autism, at least compared to Byron’s current hyperactive state.
Best comment reply ever.
Good to know we’re still acceptable targets for mockery. ¬_¬
Anyone who becomes known by posting here is an acceptable target for mockery.
;)
Anti-vaxxers deserve worse than mockery.
Get chopped in half once, shame on you.
Get chopped in half twice, yeah fuck that no. SOMERSAULT AWAY.
so you are saying bandit was taller once?
iirc, she was cleft in thirds. lengthwise.
defensive roll
D’oh. She didn’t stick the landing.
Looked to me as she stuck the landing at a dead sprint, used Byron as the springboard and kept going as if she never had any intention of slowing down at all.
or Byron either.

Now you’re making him angry, you won’t like him when… oh wait
Now your making him Docile.
You’ll actually like him a lot.
Especially if you like lifeless corpses! :D
I’ll make my comment here very simple:
Uh-oh.
“Wait Bandit! Come back! Byron needs to axe you something!”
Any way you slice it this pannel gets to the point.
Using out-of-game monster powers to chop people apart?
I call hax.
*Haxe

Wait, did she successfully inject the antizerk or not? Panel 6 implies the needle sticks, but the Alt text suggests the attempt was a failure.
She stuck him with the needle, but it didn’t work.
too soon to tell, maybe?
Injection action, successful.
Intended reaction, not so much.

Remember, Homon injected Byron (and only Byron) with an antidote, or a blocker, to Syr’s anti-berzerker serum. The cure won’t work on him now.
boom, biggmac! you nailed it. that’s what I forgot about! good call

Is he or was he just really close to death when the beasties entered him? That sounds way more obscene than I intended…. XD
Brother Tom’s head was nearly on backwards prior to his injection from Bandit. So I think it’s safe to rule out death as being a reason for the shots failure.
This is what I was thinking. c:
“I think we’re gonna need a bigger needle”
Hoo boy. Someone’s going to have to ask his insurance company for approval on extra therapy sessions.
So did it not work because Byron is super-demon powered, or was it because Bandit didn’t have a chance to properly inject it?
Bandit really needs to be careful. She might end up needling the wrong person one day.

Wasted a perfectly good sneak attack bonus. :/
1 Needle = 1 Beastie neutralized.
He has over 9000 powering his rage.
That’s right, you’re gonna lose your scout, cause his power is over 9000.
Needles have no effect on Electro-dudes from Cyberia, right?
It worked on the cult leader. But Byron is the patient zero, so he may require more… stringent methods.
oh good point, Aazen. Probably doesn’t matter that the electro-dude went into brother Tom’s mouth instead of directly into his bloodstream either.
C’mon Phil, I need some physics and biology explanations for the electro-dudes!
How many times, Bandit, do we have to tell you to stay sharp?
Clearly, someone needs to do science to this. In a big way.
uh…
Okay, I do not honestly see any way this can turn out at all well for..um..anyone.
There better be one BIG damn Deus-Ex on the way, otherwise I’m not sure how this won’t be The End.
A big damn Deus ex silva.
Banditjitsu activate!
Also, I never want to come face to face with a sword wielding berzerker with their entrails showing.

a good point. I,ll admit his mental state is difficult to gauge.
Is it Friday yet? Is it Friday yet? Is it Friday yet? Is it Friday yet? Is it Friday yet? Is it Friday yet? Is it Friday yet?
…s’how I feel after this update. MOAR!
Red Byron gives her wings…
Eli…
