Can someone refresh my memory where he was killed? Also he isn’t one of the VR players I thought only they were subject to the massive come back from the dead Scenario.
Aye. Them cannibals on that alien planet named after that greek girl’s little box would find him….. appetizing? How should I know what insane flaming cannibals like to eat?
Interesting. I’m curios as to what is going on with Scipio’s right arm. It appears to be dressed very distinctly. I wonder if it has anything to do with Syr’nj?
Hmmm. Upon closer inspection, I suspect the intention is to show him emerging from the grayness that envelops him in the earlier panels, as though he is stepping out of the shade into the open sun which enables us to see the colors and recognize him.
The pattern of clothing items seems identical on both arms. The color of the right sleeve seems indeed to be green like the left sleeve, even as the color is somewhat washed out. His hand is all gray, but going by the line art, it appears to be bare with a strap across his palm just like the left hand. So I conclude that both sides are dressed identically, but that we merely can’t make out the colors on the right hand. I don’t think there is any distinctive difference at all.
Upon closer inspection, the colour on his right is background character gray. It looks like you’re right. Maybe that’s a thing he can do now: blend in as a background character.
I think in her mind she’s just doing the romance subquest for Fr’nj. Same as how E-Merl’s player is just selecting the more “interesting” dialogue options to see where the whole thing would go.
And since I missed the chance to make the following joke until the new page was posted, I’ll make it now:
If they wanted a high druid so badly, instead of chopping off an arm, they should have just consulted old Byll’bb.
Were the 5 gone for way longer than it seems? They’re acting way too surprised at seeing people who, when last we left off, were totally fine as far as they knew
I love this life.
Now back to war.
And so, Scipio found peace in the one place a ginger truly ever could; deep in the forest besides a bunch of tree huggers.
Speaking as a ginger….
Well, damn, son, you know us well.
But how? scipio’s player is DEAD
It was mentioned way back that characters “auto-run” when their player is away.
Its not so much a game as a show where each “player” views events from the perspective of their character.
Except the players clearly make decisions that can affect the game…
Interactive fiction.
No, they don’t. Have we seen any examples of characters behaving differently when the “player” is logged on? No.
Even if we had never seen any examples it still wouldn’t follow cogently that they don’t.
E-Merl being stupid even for a drunk when his player started just clicking the first dialogue option with Iwatani.
He lived for decades before the game existed, and with any luck, will continue living after it ends.
(he won’t do that because his character archetype is factory-built to be killed off while holding off impossible enemies to let everyone else escape)
Can someone refresh my memory where he was killed? Also he isn’t one of the VR players I thought only they were subject to the massive come back from the dead Scenario.
Scipio didn’t die, he left with Fr’Nj. I don’t think he told anyone where he was going.
He told Syr’Nj. And she probably mentioned it to everyone else.

That’s Byron telling the story.
Scipio may not have died, but wasn’t his IRL player the one who was killed?
I believe so, but it’s been confirmed that the PCs have lives as NPCs when the players aren’t actively playing them.
Rachel, for example, died while her player was logged out of the game.
rachel’s character file was corrupted. had she died, gravy would have at least been able to let her talk to the party.
she got eated by the corrupter beast.
CAREFUL! He’s lost his cigar!
Oh, you misunderstand… he hasn’t lost the cigar. He’s become one with it. Look at the deep, brown of his armor, the roll of the leafy pattern.
Scipio didn’t lose his cigar. He IS the cigar.
Aye. Them cannibals on that alien planet named after that greek girl’s little box would find him….. appetizing? How should I know what insane flaming cannibals like to eat?
…he better be careful around fire attacks. I don’t know if he’ll have the will power to try to extinguish himself.
RABBLE RABBLE WHERE’S THE CIGAR???
SCIPIO AND THE CIGAR ARE NOW ONE!
Well, that’s a bit ominous.
Is that a cigar you’ve morphed into, or are you glad to see me?
Did Byron just get…one upped?
Well as was just mentioned, he’s already had two.
Good one.

Wonder if Scipio went native because the player controlling him died. Maybe all that aggression was all Kay.
I think in her mind she’s just doing the romance subquest for Fr’nj. Same as how E-Merl’s player is just selecting the more “interesting” dialogue options to see where the whole thing would go.
I like how subtle Scipio is in the first and third panels. He is there, if you know where to look. I had to go back after a first read.

AAAAAAAAAH! It’s Ganondorf! Quick, we need a master sword! Arrows of light! A bug net!
Were the 5 gone for way longer than it seems? They’re acting way too surprised at seeing people who, when last we left off, were totally fine as far as they knew
Well last time they were here, Scipio wasn’t around, and Fr’Nj still had two arms.
Scipio abandoned the Adventurers’ Guild months ago, when Byron died, at the same time that Bandit and Gravedust abandoned the group.
Plus as whole they thought there was a good chance that they were going to die trying to find the winter elves (and very nearly did).
Scipio became a NPC.
