This is going to be awesome, but I’m worried that either way a character that I’ve grown attached to is going to die.
My guess for the most likely scenario is that Ardaic will lose the amulet that allows him to become the Centurion or perhaps even that Ardaic has a crisis of faith that Frigg helps him out of. Probably with a concussion and later with a talk.
I think it’s already there. i predict something happens that makes him realize that Frigg et. al are fighting for the people in the way he’s deluding himself that he is. And that realization robs him of the centurion powers.
Or just allows him to turn them around, if the Silver Centurion powers are fueled by believing in civilisation rather than believing in the Gastonian rulers themselves. If he’s persuaded that the right thing for civilisation is deposing Taro, the Silver Centurion mantle might even REQUIRE him to do so.
I’m predicting that Ardaic’s power will fail him at a critical moment and will end up being killed by Frigg as a result.
I predict the opposite. Or mutually assured destruction.
I think it’s more just that he’s loyal to the concept of Gastonia itself.
That and the gods are blind idiots. So they really don’t and can’t police their followers.
Is he going to discover a new definition of savagery and civilization?

Gaston was an amazing guy, blowhard sure, but if Belle had invested a fraction of the time she did in Beast, he would have pouted, but turned himself around. Keep in mind, Belle had stockholm, she was locked in a haunted palace by Beast to spare her father.

Seriously, Gaston had personal problems, but he’s the type of person who would have sorted them out with the right support or eventually just let it go.

At first I thought
Goatee GuyPrivate Brad was taking snapshots of the battle using some sort of camera-equivalent magic device.Anyhow, someone really should tell him that when the opposing army is right outside the walls of your capital city, it’s usually a sign that you’re NOT WINNING.
The fact that these 2 are still privates despite being in the army before the war began tells you everything you need to know about their competence.
Tell that to Stalin. Your capital is also probably the most defended part of your territory and the easiest to reach for reinforcing armies – a perfect scenario for a decisive battle that turns the tide.
There does seem to be a bit of a trend of the World Rebellion having got their own way thus far in part because most of Gastonia’s armies were caught out of position. If we’ve now got the full armies of both sides in position, then the fact that the battle is just outside the capital actually has little bearing on which side it will prove a decisive victory for.
As for the ranks of the privates… eh. I’d be curious as to what proportion of privates who survived World War 2 saw a promotion. Surviving a war without having been promoted from the bottom rank is not necessarily an indictment in and of itself.
If memory serves, Russia wasn’t exactly winning at the point in the war. Yeah, they eventually turned things around. But the fact that Germany made it to Moscow wasn’t a good sign.
Russia survived because of Russian winter. The Germans froze to death as they marched across Russia.
Well, I did say “usually”.
Well this is pseudo middle ages so that capital more than likely is heavily defended and designed to survive besigment, however all the corpses who apear to be from Iwatania, that is a bad sign
