I thought Boring Man was one of the Heads of Houses, but if he’s Mister B. instead of His Grace Bedard, apparently not. I was gonna say Bedard represents the Fifth Estate (=the Press), but I don’t know how to turn that into something clever.
“Taro To Eliminate Heads of Heads of Houses”
“Taro’s New Medical Procedure will Take Years Off Your Face!”
“Editorial: Where are we Headed? Nowhere, Fast”
“Counter-Editorial: The Guillotine Brings Me Glee-otine”
So he’s out, too? Will Taro LET him leave?
Also, I love that one of the things he’s packing is a painting from the wall. Though, it does appear to be a map, so…
As Miyamoto makes his exit, I suspect the press won’t let him go gracefully.
Indeed, I expect that despite years of an amicable working relationship, in his time of crisis Miyamoto will find himself hoisted on his own Bedard.
The author of this webcomic would be to differ. If you actually paid attention, you’d notice that. If you don’t like political discussion, don’t come to a liberal webcomic and go back to your echo-chamber.
“True leaders are hardly known to their followers.
After them are those the people love and respect;
After them, those they fear;
After them, those they despise.” (Tao Te Ching, tr. U.K. LeGuin)
“Heh…now that you mention it. In the old days, I was a questgiver. My job was to ask adventurers to bring me a certain individual’s head…somehow, I ended up with a mountain of absolutely indentical heads. Funny how the universe works.”
What is Bedard’s angle here? This update makes him seem less a patriot (who wishes to be one of those in charge) and more like the muckracker/sensationalist/storyteller version of the Joker. What Miyamoto says of him (and how flippant and unconcerned he acts) is rather telling of him. “We tried to make a great nation and it was fun to watch, but since it’s falling apart, it’s still fun to watch.”
I sense either a heel-turn face, or sudden and rapid comeuppance for a one Miyamoto arriving soon.
I believe this is appropriate https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efHCdKb5UWc

Nope, he’s definitely a Head regardless of title.
He’s not one to draw attention to himself like that.
Finally!
A

State (of journalism today)
YEP!!!!
Nope. What Mister B. creates is not Fake News, but Inflated Headlines. They’re exaggerations, not outright lies.
A little part of me wonders if Mister Bedard is one of the non-tubed players who’s preferred the social aspects to the World of Arkerra.
He’s the real villain: a game blogger.
This page feel especially topical to anyone else?
“Taro did more in the first 100 days than Miyamoto during his full tenure”
Lol, I didn’t notice the ‘muh legacy’ until now.
It definitely does to me :)
Sadly, even this fictional dictator is better than the real one America has in Trump.
Everything feels topical today.
Though I will say that despite my own feelings on the current state of the world, it as least seems like people are paying attention now.
“Taro Cuts Staff to Head Off Expenditures”
Eh, I’m sure all you sharp commenters will come up with a better headline….
“Taro To Eliminate Heads of Heads of Houses”
“Taro’s New Medical Procedure will Take Years Off Your Face!”
“Editorial: Where are we Headed? Nowhere, Fast”
“Counter-Editorial: The Guillotine Brings Me Glee-otine”
“Final Editorial: I’m Heading Off Now”
“House of Houses Now Short-Staffed”
“Taro a Pain in Neck, Miyamoto Claims”
“Is Your Job on the Chopping Block in the Coming Recession?”
“Lose 5 Pounds of Head Fat With This One Weird Trick.”
That’s the stuff!
Let them eat cake. I heard it restores hp.
Ungh, but the ingredients are such a pain to get. Just catch some fish instead. They’re bloody everywhere.
Conformism for the win.
So, finally we know Bedard’s spirit animal – the fox.
So he’s out, too? Will Taro LET him leave?
Also, I love that one of the things he’s packing is a painting from the wall. Though, it does appear to be a map, so…
And he’s also grabbing a book on “Building Foundations”…. Planning on bringing down the House?
Anyone else get the feeling that Bedard has secretly been a cultist this whole time?
He’s very fake news so.
I was thinking more about his recently revealed stance on death, and the similar physical appearance he has to Brother Tom… sans body art.
What’s his stance on death? Are you talking about what was revealed about him on this page, or did he say something earlier?

That is such a great pun that I have to point out that I made it first. ^_^
I tip my hat to you. But I do credit myself with using it well in this particular context.
And Trump is still worse.
Reality is unrealistic.
This is a fantasy comic strip, not a debate forum for your political opinions. Stop trying to start arguments.

I think the problem is that Taro learned too much from his father. He just missed the lesson on “Not Being Obviously Evil in Public”.
Trump also missed that class.
Gonna get all heavy here:
“True leaders are hardly known to their followers.
After them are those the people love and respect;
After them, those they fear;
After them, those they despise.” (Tao Te Ching, tr. U.K. LeGuin)
Taro is sinking fast…
Awesome. (I’m a fan of The Way of Chuang Tzu.)

Oh, so thats the other midlife crisis
Bedard reminds me more of William Randolph Hearst and other late 19th, early 20th Century with a little Petyr Baelish tossed in.
