I just noticed the steam coming off the Purple People Eater in the first panel. I think he’s extinguishing Tectonicus.
“I believe… I believe in YOU, Shanna.”
“Um. Thanks, I think?”
“Now strip down so we can stick you in that empty tube.”

I don’t think they could get Shanna into that tube, even with a guarantee of a Pulitzer & a million dollars. Carol or Xan on the other hand, might be more inclined.
Damn it Carol don’t let your fanaticism waver now. Loyalty is the highest virtue or so the people whose hold on power depends on it claim.
AYE AYE, CAP’N! and to expound on that:
Shanna: Carol, give up your blind faith in HR.
Penk: Magda, no matter what, don’t ever waver in your faith.
Takeaway: Blind faith is a virtue if you’re on “the right side”, but a sin if you’re on the “wrong” side.
Not to mention the unspoken inference that if you waver in your blind faith, and your god doesn’t come through, then it was your “lack of faith” that caused your defeat.
To be fair, strength of faith has slightly different ramifications in a world with literal deities who’s strength and/or ability to manifest physically is entirely determined by the faith invested into them.
One could also interpret it as a call for there being a time and place to stick to one’s guns vs re-examine their faith.

Crocomire was my first thought as well. I guess that’s why I was weirded out by his humanoid body and especially those leeeeeeegs.
*sigh* Nintendo censored the blood in Mortal Kombat, yet Crocomire’s death was more gruesome than anything in that game.
