“That story has gotta be fake news! I wish she’d go back to reporting more believable stories, like that one about what happened with Hurricane Software!”
This is the denouement and the penultimate chapter. Unless Phil and/or T plan for a sequel as their next project, there’s really no room for anything else to go wrong.
Having shit go inexplicably bad in the denouement turns things into shaggy dog story, and while being ‘long and drawn out’ is one of the qualities of a shaggy dog story, there is a limit to how long you can reasonably expect to string your audience along for one of those, and 9 years/50 chapters/almost 2k pages is well past that limit.
Bolivian army ending! HR is still alive, in this world! A little army of purple hims come over the horizon, and they look pissed! Shanna pulls out her gun, they all charge at each other anddddd roll credits!
the twist is that Shanna reports to Will and Rikk, its been a FANS! sequel the entire TIME!! (you know, despite the fact that the whole team was playing world of warcraft at some point…)
Arrow placement was a little odd for me on panel four, took me a moment to realize it Shanna was still talking about her observations on Nerdicus Computerus.
I was so confused by Lia’s second speech balloon in the second panel. It made no grammatical sense; there was no way I could parse it into any kind of comprehensible English. And who the hell is Venmo Daniel?
And then I realized that “Venmo” is probably a verbed noun and, like, the American version of Swish or something, and everything made sense again. ^_^
I really like this… it’s true that once your friends (in any world) have seen you without your armor (of whatever sort), you can’t really go back to being indifferent acquaintances.
I hope Shanna gets to report on cybersecurity, so she can bring Xan along as a consultant.
Weell…happy end for nearly everyone. ‘cept the main characters are…dead? Half dead? Their lower parts looked pretty dead to me (sotospeaknodirtyjokeintended)…
I’m betting they’re in the matrix, now.
And you know what the worst thing is about sepia-world-matrix?
YOU CAN’T TELL THE BLUE PILL FROM THE RED PILL!
Too real.
Joke’s on you, I’ve been playing in greyscale mode from day one. I’ve got it down pat.
I’m so old, I still remember playing on green-screen…Yeah, the real old school. black background, green line graphics.
I think the sepia world always was the matrix.
I’m sure the Shanna and Xan shippers will be disappointed with this.
If Sepia World has the same leadership in Washington that this world does then godspeed Shanna.
And if Sepia World has the same reporting environment that this world does, that goes at least triple.
Actual reporters are drubbed out of reporting for being good reporters. That’s not what “reporting” agencies actually want.
I still remember the times when they still did actual Investigative Reporting. It’s been a few decades since they forgot the “Investigative” part.
“That story has gotta be fake news! I wish she’d go back to reporting more believable stories, like that one about what happened with Hurricane Software!”
How nice… something terrible is about to happen.

…murphy
PERFECT AVATAR/COMMENT CONGRUENCE!
Finnigan’s dicta says “Murphy was a bleedin’ sorft ‘eaded optimist” So yeah…Murphy is so getting trumped.
Finnigan was wrong about Murphy being “bleeding soft-hearted”…
*soft-headed*, not soft-hearted.
Well, the Murphy I referred to certainly isn’t soft-headed either. Heck his head can repel small arms fire…
Only applies to fiction if the author wills it.

Yeah, but… twist endings are a thing, and they aren’t always a *good* thing. D:
The last page of the last chapter is a purple HR zombie rising from the rubble?
Bolivian army ending! HR is still alive, in this world! A little army of purple hims come over the horizon, and they look pissed! Shanna pulls out her gun, they all charge at each other anddddd roll credits!
Well, the comic’s ending relatively soon.
I’m happy for them. :-)
The servers have been down for over an hour and no one at Hurricane is even answering the phone.
Even their web site is down.
Worst. Support. Ever.
the twist is that Shanna reports to Will and Rikk, its been a FANS! sequel the entire TIME!! (you know, despite the fact that the whole team was playing world of warcraft at some point…)
But we’ve already seen FANS! Shanna is a different universe.
As Insanenoodleguy points out… Ask an Adventurer: A Little Cross

Agreed – I assumed it was her without even seeing the arrow, but when I look, it’s clearly pointing to the wrong person.
I NEED MORE COWBELL!
*waits for other shoe to drop…*
Im waiting for the Arkerra-Wrap-Up…
…
!!

Venmo is a way to transfer money, like Paypal
Yeah, that’s what I said: the American version of Swish. ;P

Ugh… arbitrary shipping.
