EPIC RAP BATTLES OF ARKERRAN HISTORY: BEST VS BYRON
So our interstitial surprise bit is here, and it’s… THE EPIC RAP BATTLES OF ARKERRAN HISTORY!
We’re both p big fans of that video series and we thought this would be a fun way to recap on THE GREATEST WEBCOMIC SAGA IN HUMAN HISTORY.
But seriously, let’s have fun with this: Cast your vote in the comments, winner will be announced on Wednesday with the next installment!
Chapter 50 will begin on Monday, March 26th!
(You know the irony here is that we were supposed to come up with something easy and simple to do in between regular comic scripts but these turned out to be profoundly difficult)
Best won. Who’s next?
BTW, my vote is for Lord Gigundus vs. Taro Iwatani.
We won.
Is…Is Bests’s part to the tune of Bowie’s “Starman”?
The first part is.
David Bowie – Starman
Nirvana – Come As You Are
Culture Club – Karma Chameleon
My heart wants to say Byron, but Best had it the minute he dropped “chemoprophylaxis.”
same, best also had an extra stanza Byron didn’t but overall, yeah Best got this one for that reason
Yeah, this.
Oh, and also for “I’m-a chameleon” while in full Boy George mode.
Yep. This. Best won.
Bested to the bone.
And then boned.
…by the Best.
Thats gonna be a Best from me dawg, its in the name.
I can’t understand this modern music you kids have. It all sounds like mumbling to me.
Back in my day we had real lyrics you could sing like; “No no, no no no no, no no no no, no no, there’s no limits.”
I have to give this one to Byron; they were both on point, but there was a point to every word he dropped, while Best’s exquisite vocabulary can’t quite balance out his opening’s empty bragging.
Seconded.
“to those who pay it best”
don’t think that pun went unnoticed ^^
My vote is on Byron.
Best as great, but Byron made each word count, and the initial pun sealed the deal for me.
B
Best got this in the bag.^^
Matching Ziggy? Sorry, Byron, but the Spiders get the nod.
Hmm… Byron was clearly winning at the beginning, then Best delivered some hurtful lines, but then they both got weaker near the end, Best repeating a rather empty refrain and Byron delivering weak final words which might as well apply to him. It’s a close call, I’ll go with Byron by a small margin.
I gotta vote for Byron. And not just because he’s the underdog.
He’s up against a professional, he’s going to need all the help he can get.
We’ve seen real character growth from him.
Best has grown some, but not nearly as much.
Byron will always be a better man.
He’s just not the best.
Dear gods, how am I supposed to pick?
Both of them droppin’ lines that were sick.
One repeated to much, so I gotta say totes
Byron’s gonna get every one of my votes
I didn’t decide between these axemen,
I’m hoping for a third to hop on stage again.
Like Jobs vs. Gates’ epic rap I voted HAL,
There’s gotta be another way then fight your pal.
Best is best.
I wanted Byron to win, but Best put Byron on defensive early on and had a whole extra stanza. They both finished weak, but Best had already won by that point. Plus he gets bonus points for channeling Ziggy Stardust.
ERB is an awesome show. A great choice for an interstitial bit!
Question for the crew, after the comic ends, how long will the assorted Guilded Age merchandise be available for purchase?
We’re going to have a fire sale of our old stock and then seek to move everything towards print on demand solutions, basically!
Thanks!
Like a few others have said: While I prefer Byron as a character, I think Best won this one.
Probably does have an unfair advantage, though: they’re fighting on Best’s home turf.
Anyone else have “Shiny” from “Moana” in their head while reading this? Don’t know why but it just seems to fit.
Byron is the better poet.
Byron Byron Byron!
Hmm, I think Byron might have just squeaked out the win.
Byron. Just Byron.
I’m giving it to Byron because his first verse has a callback all the way to *Chapter Fucking One.*
Eh, I can’t vote without hearing them.
And come to think of it, I rarely had a favorite in ERBoH.
Haven’t watched those for a long time. Maybe I should.
Mr. Rogers was the one clear winner in the whole collection.
He won The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny and Epic Rap Battles of History? That’s legendary!
Bowie’s blessing helped Best this time.
Byron! I loved Best’s verses but I’m biased. Sorry, bud
Someone please record this being rapped. Please please please please
Byron
Ugh… those videos are such utter cringe. I blocked the creators to stop them showing up on my YouTube because they just wouldn’t stop popping up.
