EPIC RAP BATTLES OF ARKERRAN HISTORY – RACHEL VS FRIGG
on March 14, 2018
Wow, so, I tabulated the votes in the comments on the Best v Byron fight and the result is… A TIE! Best and Byron remain equally matched, even in song!
22 votes each, didn’t see that coming, tbh!
Voting for Rachel VS Frigg will be open until Friday’s update!
“Ya got your twisted “Sister”-fistin’ fantasy fulfilled?”
It’s a fierce tongue-twister, but it flows like fucking honey. Frigg all the way.
Gotta give it to Frigg for the fuck offs.
Ahem. So as not to seem fanboi-ish, my calculated evaluation is: Frigg won, but Rachel nearly did. The power of the glowymacemic was the diff. Surgery/perjury, Motherfrigger – all gold. FYI on the previous page 2 days ago I thought to request a Rachel/Frigg fight, but held off as I was afraid I’d “jinx” it. Now I can soberly say, having seen Rachel in full fight and prose one last time, my true feelings:
YEEEEEE – HAWWWW! THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!
Frigg all the way!
It was always going to be Frigg. You don’t get far in the rap industry without swearing every second word.
It’s nice to see Rachel back.
Frigg failed to explore the fact that Rachel doesn’t exist anymore. And Rachel failed to exploit the fact that the surest way to f*ck with Frigg’s brain is to present her with a challenge she can’t deal with using violence – she should have just faded away halfway through, leaving us all with a sense that the battle was unfinished; not to mention leaving Frigg to contemplate how she failed Rachel in the end, how the universe keeps finding ways to assault her psyche, and how unsatisfying the entire affair was.
At least Byron and Best fully exploited the avenues of psychological attack open to them. I expected better from these two. In any case, Rachel ceded victory at the end. So I guess Frigg won.
Dude it’s epic RAP battles not epic WRECKED battles. Still too soon.
Still too soon? It’s been nearly three and a half years, and over a third of the comic’s run to date.
And if I’m gonna watch an epic rap battle, I expect to see somebody get wrecked epically. Preferably multiple somebodies.
Im actually gonna go with Rachel on this one. Frigg had a lot of solid jabs but I think Rachel was just more consistently good.
I will say this fight seemed to have less big lines, but liked reading it more than Best v Byron.
Yeah, I feel like they both gave better accountings of themselves than the axemen did, and this battle has an amazing sense of flow.
Rachel won simply by getting Frigg to participate instead of actually fucking off.
Precisely my thought as well.
Yup – turned the other cheek well, Rachel did. Bless
That would be my humble opinion, too.
Seconded. Rachel has got the victory (by a narrow margin) for getting Frigg to dig deep and giving as good as she got (hence the narrow margin).
^^^ was meant to be a reply to MM
Rachel by far.
Frigg — Nothing that Rachel brought, either verbally or physically, was aimed at Frigg’s true strength, her totally indomitable will. Rachel was attacking the walls, not the central keep, and the walls defeated her attack.
That’s how I see it.
“The foot that’s kicking you like a Bad Habit”
For the cheap seats that missed it, Rachel won here by critical hit.
She called Frigg a worthless addiction, and a shitty nun, in the same two words which she then rhymed.
My vote is on Rachel both for that great line and for how she just seemed more in control of it all.
Totally missed that pun! “Bad Habit” and I was raised Catholic too..
I’m no rap expert, but I felt that Rachel’s lines were much smoother. I vote Rachel.
Uhh, as a non-native english speaker I totally missed the Habit = Nuns Clothes
A tie Bryon only got because quite a lot voted for him because they were biased towards him. And admitted so too. XD
In this case even though Rachel said Frigg won I think Rachel is the one who won this battle.^^
Oh, I don’t know. As I recollect, there were a number of people who said their heart was with Byron. And Best has certainly had his haters in the past.
Doh! Must of misread this (pre-caffeine). Though you said “A tie Best only got…”
You can count the Best harcore fans on like one hand that is missing two fingers. For the Bryon fans you would need lots of severed hands to keep count of all the fingers. XD
Taken as a rap battle, I think Frigg won this one. Her lines were sparing, but on point.
In the wider picture, though, it does seem as though Rachel might have won by losing.
Can’t get the Rap battle opening announcer out of my head now….
EEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPICCCC RAP BATTLES OF ARKERRAN history……..
Don’t forget the mush-mouth enunciation!
EEEEEEBIK WAP BADDWS OF ARKERRAD HISHTOWY!
Rachel said Frigg won, but she did get what she wanted, which was a training session with Frigg using her power, while Frigg just wanted to rest and was unable to do so. So it looks like Rachel won after all.
As for the lyrics, Rachel’s were really poor. Frigg’s were slightly better once she finally decided to start saying something other than “fuck off”.
So, what counts here? The lyrics or achieving what they initially wanted? If the former, Frigg won. If the latter, Rachel won.
Rachel had the best bit:
“Psych, it’s in the foot that’s kicking
you like a bad habit
You use the light
I am it!”
And then “won” by losing. This was awesome!
Frigg has this in the hobag.
If Rachel really wanted to win she could have just brought up the fact that Frigg still has a skeleton inside her waiting to get out.
Rachel for the win!
Though she ceded victory, she ticked Frigg off. Granted that’s an easy thing to do with Frigg. But it’s also a good sign her dissing was hitting home.
What’s more, while Frigg got a few get jabs in, Rachel was far more consistent. Plus verbally jousting without using cuss words is actually impressive. It would be like a duelist smacking another sword fighter around by using a toy sword.
Rachel. Pure and simple.
I was going to give it to Frigg for the glowy mic finale, but it’s more of a tie. Both of them had some good insults, but they also had some weak insults.
Gotta go with Frigg, even if Rachel achieved her primary goal. Frigg had sicker, slicker rhymes and made me laugh a lot more than Rachel.
I’m going to say Rachel. Though it’s kind of meta: Rachel’s goal was to make Frigg fight and win.
Rachel got what she wanted, Frigg didn’t. “Pissin’ me off’s easy” is the equivalent of “those grapes were sour anyway”; you spent the first half of the song trying not to give her what she wanted, Frigg.
100% Rachel. Better flow, more purposeful.
Frigg’s still too chaotic and undisciplined for this.
My vote goes to Frigg
Gotta go with Rachel
Awww, now i’M SAAAAAAAAAD.
Ironic avatar is ironic!
I definitely have to vote Frigg for this one, I was going to give it to Rachel but Frigg really brought down the glowy hammer at the end there. “Ya creamin’ that cream-colored cloth?” really got me.
Rachel. She got Frigg to do what she wanted
When one opens their heart up to the world, we all win (but because Rachel made Frigg do it, I say Rachel wins)
was “tabulated” necessary for only 22 items to count? and now that I’m looking at it that sounds like a really old word that doesnt belong anymore, like a really old lazy word for calculating tabs or some such. anyway never mind me, boredom is the mother of posting les comments. that is all.
it was 44 items. 22 each.
Rachel had the lyrics. Frigg wasn’t interested.
And don’t call my Egirl!
They both had a handful of weak lines barely noticeable in an unmitigated deluge of solid fucking gold. Frigg started off weak but ramped up fast, while Rachel landed some solid hits – that “you win” at the end there in particular is a strong finish for her, but Frigg finished just as strong without a single lull once she got the diss-train rolling. I think they’re tied, in all honesty – I’m tempted to give it to Frigg for her steady improvement once she got off her ass, but Rachel played her like a damn fiddle, so I can’t really decide.
Def Rachel. This time she got it, especially her end concede.
Rachel has this in a bag, shit-eating grin and all.
Frigg won the battle but it’s what Rachel wanted so…. she wins……..?
Also, I’m really gonna miss this comic when it’s done. It’s gonna be right there after Dr. McNinja for me.
Take me now, Frigg. Don’t be gentle.
Rachel all the way. Like someone said above, she played Frigg like a fiddle and got what she wanted, plus she had a lot more solid lines. For half the battle Frigg just said fuck off, and it’s not like that’s exactly hard to come up with.
Frig Frigged her up.
I vote for Frigg!
Rachel
Rachel
Frigg.
Why must you do this to me, Guilded Age?
Frigg is my soul animal. But Rachel kicked ass.
Am I going to Frigg-Hell for voting Rachel?
I vote Rachel, because she had multiple goals here and met them all.
Am I the only one who things Rachel crossed some lines here? Her order was fucking torturing Frigg. Taunting her about that isn’t really okay. That and the slut-shaming is kind of gross.
I usually liked Rachel but now I’m thinking she’s kind of a nasty person.
I’d say that dissing can be an art form, too. And here it is.
Rachel knew her audience. None of those insults hit anywhere close to home until she brought up the possibility of her friends dying because of her despondence. I think Frigg would be more annoyed at you thinking that she could be slut-shamed than at Rachel for such weak and insincere attempts to slut-shame her.
So, Frigg is my favorite character. But this battle directly references a canon scene in which Rachel was absolutely brilliant. Also, I’m happy just to see her again, even if it’s out of continuity.
As for the actual rap… well, like the previous battle, I have a hard time deciding when I can’t hear them. Unlike the previous battle, though, I’m not indifferent. It’s just that I want both of them to win!
In the end, though, unless there’s a sudden deluge of voters, it seems like this is already decided. My vote most likely wouldn’t change the outcome either way, so I’ll save myself the trouble and call it a tie.
Rachel won by losing.
Wall of text won this one.
Rachel
Rachel is clearly intimate with Sun Tzu’s little-known remix, The Art of Raw.
It’s clear to me that Rachel won as her song got the expected reaction from her audience.
