Mental Health Day – Part 1
Hey there, Guilderinos! As part of our promised FRIGGSTARTER rewards, we now present to you the first installment of one of two short stories. This one’s called “Mental Health Day,” and we’ll be running it all this week prior to Chapter 31’s start next Monday.
Please enjoy!
I want that mug.
Indeed. Someone get the guys an storenvy on it.
…and hijinks ensue.
Wrong comic.
Not so much fan fiction as fan service.
>not a single mention of the stogie
Fan disservice this much?
I don’t think Syr’nj could’ve handled it. She already had a hard enough time getting things out of her mind.
Just add “the stogie was there too” to the end of every paragraph.
“Gardening”, eh?
Is THAT how they call it?
He is quite good at ploughing the fields, if you know what I mean.
Which is sex. I mean sex.
Heh heh, loving the last part between Fringe and
the CigarScipio :DUmm, what is Bandit eating? Looks like square lumps of something in a liquid
Byron’s drinking the coffee; Bandit’s eating the sugar cubes.
thats just how she takes her sugar. piled high with a small helping of coffee on the side
It’s diced fruit.
Hard to show that in just pencils, I’ll admit.
Ah!
*I* thought it was Jell-O.
Either way, it’s all part of an interpretive breakfast!
Mmm, love eating diced fruit, although ours usually don’t come that big
Short stories yay!!
Just curious, is there anywhere online where we can read about the writing experience of our esteemed Guilded Age authors? Schools attended, strategies adopted, jobs held, etc.? So far I’m mostly finding info on past comics.
Eh, I went to Temple University for film and sort-of focused my time on Screenwriting.
Which is probably the closest you’ll get outside of specialized comics schools.
Basically the only difference between screenwriting and comicswriting is that you’re noting page and panel numbers.
I got my B.A. in English from the College of William and Mary, which is really where I learned what I needed to know: I did a scholarship project on comics storytelling and read Understanding Comics, which was literally life-changing.
I briefly studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design, trying to make a niche for myself at what was primarily an arts school, and took a single class on kind of a test basis at UCLA, and was the best scorer in the class. Both were interesting experiences that helped me grow, but the learning-to-financial expense ratio was a lot better at W&M.
Strategies– heck, I can’t say I have a lot to say there that doesn’t relate to my body of work, at least not right now.
Jobs– I’ve had a few. Web design, SEO. Lately I’m doing a lot of professional editing, both for Pixie Trix Comix and non-comics clients like EditorLive and Koehler Books.
This is interesting (@ Phil & T) and could belong to the creators page. Speaking about that: Why is there no text for Jason Waltrip there? And what exactly is Samantha Kyle doing here? (I honestly just don’t know.)
I haven’t looked at that creators’ section in quite a long time. This is an oversight we should correct. Samantha is designing our books.
Also Syr’Nj’s face looks like the Great Faz’s, which is unsettling.
Oh crap, now I see it.
The Great Faz has made a chart explaining how the Great Faz is able to traverse the multiverse
I almost hesitate to imagine what a Faz’Nj would be like, but there would probably be some creepy pursuit of Fr’Nj involved.
insert pun here about trimming hedges
Also digging furrows & planting seeds…
