The spice tobacco is vital for word travel. That is to say speaking…without moving your lips.

It is by Tobacco alone I still my lips from motion.
It is by the Juice of Nicotiana that thoughts acquire speed, the teeth acquire stains, the stains aren’t really visible since I don’t smile.
It is by Tobacco alone I still my lips from motion.

Sirs, may I grant you an internet, or whatever pass as a token of appreciation in these places?

Signed, a fan of Gurney Halleck and Thufir Hawat.

Ah, I’d always thought his armor was hardened leather or something. Good to know.

I was expecting a laquered steel laminar armor. The top half definitely looks like lorica segmentata (Roman legion standard issue – 0 A.D.)

Granted, it -could- just be bronze-colored. Always looked a mite reddish to be proper metal to me, unless it was rusted.

0 A.D.? I guess in that case it means “At Death”?

well. two things. One, there’s no 0 AD, It goes from 1 Bc to 1 AD. Two, AD stands for anno domini which translates to “in the year of the lord” On another note, I agree, the armor does look vaguely roman.

“I will cut you. I will cut you with my stogie. And stogies don’t normally cut things, so you can imagine just how slow, and difficult, and painful this is going to be.”

It’s dull, it’ll hurt more. Not to mention the burns. And the general humiliation of being defeated by a cigar. That’s not the kind of thing that gets you into the good afterlife.

And then in the streets there arose such a clatter
For all of the cultists had voided their bladders
For Scip’s blade was sharp and Scip’s blade was long
And Scip kept his slicing arm practiced and strong

I think I figured out why Scipio doesn’t wear a helmet.

It’s the eyes. He wants them to see his eyes. He wants them to look him in the eyes, so that they might know fear.

Much more valuable than head protection.

I love it when the “random” avatar generator looks like it’s reading your comic and picks out something appropriate for you.
