This page is an attempt to concentrate Phil’s original concept for the battle down to a single page, while also serving as a transition from the previous page to the trap we saw sprung at the start of the story. Considering all the weight we’re putting on it, I think it works pretty well: the Savasi are clearly capable of going toe-to-toe with the Peacemakers’ most powerful. If they were employing no trickery, the odds would be close to even.
I like Gravedust’s little pronoun slip in panel 2. He’s not really at any risk of switching loyalties away from his friends, but like Byron’s, his self-concept sometimes needs updating.
Scipio’s getting thrown in panel 3 was a last-minute addition on my part, just to make things livelier.
I like how Byron’s down to one axe, because a dwarf took it to the arm and just kept on fighting.
