“The myriad of chemicals and lab apparati that litter Syr’Nj’s new workspace. Lots of jars, beakers, flasks, a burner or two, stands, etc. Everything you’ve seen in your high school chem lab but… vintage. Whether or not any chemicals are active or being processed is your bag. She would also have Weird Jar Stuff as per previous scenes.”

I can’t find any record of us discussing this cover, and I’m the one who dropped the above description into the script, but that is definitely Phil’s writing style, not mine. Although most of the final version of this story has little to do with Syr’Nj’s lab, it is important to both the opening and closing scenes, so it was probably our best chance at imposing some kind of unity on this otherwise helter-skelter chapter. No single object represented all three new recruits, and the Hall of Houses and killing fields of war are both on the story’s “horizon line,” not its center.

The glass FX are great, but my favorite part here is the… organic material John slipped into the jars.
