I'll be the first to admit, that joke was some hack writing.

Cutting remarks from the pun-nut gallery! Perhaps a Frenchman like yourself would be soothed by some Chopin? I hear it sharpens the mind!

I’m all for a slice of history but while baying for more, puns like that leave me braying.

I supposed we are used to wordplay that’s a cut above the pun from the comic, aren’t we?

The pun in today’s comic and in this comment section are terrible. But I’ll admit that I laughed so let’s just bury the hatchet.

Even Byron doesn’t know which one’s Bayen and which one’s Brayen, that’s why he never separates them, otherwise he’d get super embarrassed

Oi, Byron! Yes you, punning about up there at the top of the page…

If we have to pay into the pun jar for outrageous punning, you aren’t exempt.

You owe the pun jar. Pay up, or we’ll send the boys round.

I guess after a while of talking about axes you’ll inevitably start referring to your friends as “bros”.

(Because Axe body spray. Which is a thing marketed toward stereotypical dudebros.)

You know after a pun like that I am sure some folks wish this really was AXE an adventurer rather than ask an adventurer, yes? We could run it like a reality TV Show. Just think of the ratings!

Why do I get the impression those last two panels were addressed to me personally?

    Nah. That’d be egocentric.
But still… to reply to the last panel:
I read this webcomic in spite of the puns. And anyone who reads it because of the puns is likely beyond help.

… Also… screw you Byron. I never liked you as a character. =)

Yeah, I’m pretty sure Byron was talking to you. In fact, half the puns in the comments are probably made in an attempt to get a reaction reaxeion from you. ;)

Aaaah! Now you’ve got me doing it.

I don’t read this webcomic for the puns I read it for the magic. By that standard the puns are only a minor nuisance.

Then you wouldn’t want to play one of my GURPS Fantasy RPG games. Mages can cast spells by speaking in puns…It’s PUN MAGIC!

…The specific effects may vary due to the chaotic nature of puns. Don’t try this at your next cult gathering.
