I think Lia is simultaneously showing off her storytelling chops and trying to weasel out of revealing personal truths. Also she has a dry sense of humor and is still coming off of a large annoyance.
Funny thing: The Star Wars Holiday Special was not meant as a Christmas special. It was a Thanksgiving special.
It’s just that, with ‘Holiday Special’, everyone started thinking of it as a Christmas movie. So it suffered the same fate as Jingle Bells, something meant for Thanksgiving, absorbed into the boughs of holly.
The song Jingle Bells (Originally ‘One Horse Open Sleigh’) was originally written as a Thanksgiving song, but it’s now a Christmas tune, is what I meant.
It’s funny; I would never imagine Jingle Bells as a Thanksgiving thing because Canadian Thanksgiving is in October, and there’s never any snow on the ground, making sleighs of any kind a terrible idea. I tend to forget that Americans do it November.
Well sure, but because it’s such a big place, it includes places like… Baffin Island, which, crossing the arctic circle, regardless of seasons is cold enough for snow all year ’round.
Sleigh Ride was originally written in the middle of an August heat wave.
It’s not about seeing your friends for the holidays, it’s about getting out of the gotdam heat.
Unchecked global warming caused a rise in planetary water elemental levels with many becoming elites and when the inevitable ice age finally hit…oh wait they’re golems not elementals, nevermind then.
Weeell, we can’t be completely sure Sepia world is supposed to be our world, right? Maybe it’s an alternative universe where the Mayapocalypse actually happened.
If catastrophe/apocalyptic movies and their sequels have taught me anything, then that mankind is always eager to return to “normal” after just about anything.
Gotta love her sense of logic…
I count myself lucky that the Christmas special in question has almost completely vanished from my memory.
You had to bring that up didn’t you? YOU JUST HAD TO DREDGE UP THOSE MEMORIES! :shudder: you scruffy nerf herder!
You don’t remember going all Mad Max like the rest of us?
But…it had a drunken Bea Arthur in it! How can anyone think that was bad?
Funny, I remember that day differently. Everything turning into snow and some blond English dude saying, “HERE. NOW. YOUR SENTENCE IS UP.”
Um… do I need to listen to the rest of the Good Omens radio play?
It’s a reference to the end of a certain series by Grant Morrison.
Is this lolrandom or am I missing something?

Jingle Bells wasn’t a Christmas movie? Do you mean it didn’t have a Christmas release, or did the initial draft have differences in subject matter?

Canada has snow for seven months out of twelve, but not in October? What.
Canada has snow for 12 months out of 12, I’m pretty sure.
Hey now, Canada isn’t like Hawaii. It’s bigger.
Heck, there are a few places that actually have seasons!.
Well sure, but because it’s such a big place, it includes places like… Baffin Island, which, crossing the arctic circle, regardless of seasons is cold enough for snow all year ’round.
Snow in November is at best unusual for most of the United States. Even the places that get it don’t always get enough of it to justify sleighs.
Didn’t used to be true.
Would you believe that the Potomac River actually froze over enough to walk on?
Doesn’t so much as crust over now.
Sure it does. Then are hundreds of modern photographs of it frozen over.
> absorbed into the boughs of holly.
fala lala la, lala la la.
Over the River and Through the Woods seems to have been Borgmased as well.

Guys, I remember this one.
It was shitty.
(Full disclosure: I’m not an ice golem)
Well, of course. If you were an ice golem, your comment might’ve been “no melt? Freakin’ AWESOME!”
She’s got style.
Did they finally have three ice ages, that each lasted a day, one after another?
So I take it she isn’t playing this game right? :P
Well if you take enough shrooms it may have happened just for her.
She did a little too much LDS in the ’60s.
Ok. You win.
This would have been a great April fools page!

Global warming enraged the glaciers and caused them to release their children to punish us for our sins against nature.

Seems legit.
Yeah, that year’s Christmas sucked for everyone.
Yeah, I hate it when that happens…
But Tonatiuh is Aztec! Not Mayan! And he is the god of the Fifth Sun/Creation, not the fourth!
The rest makes sense.
I don’t know, it feels like she’s exaggerating a bit.
I mean, climate change? [/satire]
I think the Futurama Christmas was still worse
Oh I remember that christmas. My buddies and I ate so many people. MUAHAHAHAHA
Oh and freezing suff, I can’t leave that out.
That last panel reminds me of the Fans / CRFH crossover.
