      He almost certainly saw the direct consequences of his response to being shown the direct consequences.

      Which is to see that the fate which now unfolds could almost certainly have been avoided if he just had the sense not to fly into a rage at the sight of it.

      To be fair, while they did discuss getting a turn to use the basin amongst themselves, nobody mentioned that plan to Best. So far’s we know it’s a “diplomatic challenge” they never actually took on.

            *nod* Also, on that note? Kudos to John for the expressions on Frigg and Syr’nj’s faces – Payet and Byron, it wasn’t hard to have the slow progression to horror/anger, since their whole faces are shown, but to pull it off with just eyes and eyebrows is damn good artifying.

    It’s cause he’s not really the prophesied one. Remember waaaay back when that second elf came to the village who fit the prophecy’s description even better? Five bucks says that Best has been trying to live up to a mantle that isn’t his.

      yeah,said the same thing a page earlier.
      I also Bet that he “finally” saw that he is not a destinied hero.
      Or at least i sure hope so. Even thought he changed mostly for the best (no pun intended,really.) in the last 4 pages. He still could need a good blow to his ego.
      He already has the new ability to care-for-others,if he loses his overconfidence now, he may be finally a likeable character.
