Something like:
Syr’Nj – Medic
Bandit – Scout
Scipio – Heavy
Best – Spy
Frigg – Pyro
Byron – Soldier
Gravedust – Sniper
E-Merl – Engineer
And I guess Rachel would default to Demo, simply because there’s no good fit for either of them?
I would have Rachel be soldier and Byron be Demo, since both Byron and Demoman are axe-wielding berserkers. Rachel is a soldier in her own right, as well.
I’d definitely make Bandit the Spy and Best the Scout instead. Also, TF2 crossover = Bandit messing with Syr’Nj’s hat in the very beginning makes perfect sense… Hat Fortress! XD
Rachel as Demo or Soldier both amuse me greatly but I think Byron does fit Demo better considering the demon-possessed weaponry Demo gets. Though Rachel as Demo, Frigg as Soldier, and Byron as Pyro amuses me greatly as well.
E-Merl doesn’t work as a Medic, I realize, but I’m not sure who else would. He doesn’t strike me as an Engineer either but he does handle defense so it’s probably the best best. So, uh, yeah. 8)
I think Scipio would work either as the Pyro (they both talk little), and as the Engineer (almost taking it easy as your weapons do your work for you). Hell, if he weren’t such an obvious frontlines character, he could even be cast as the Sniper.
I would definitely place Frigg in the role of the Heavy though, because they both seem fond of loudmouthed taunting.
Also? If anyone is artistically inclined, and wants to make a guest strip for Guilded Age, but doesn’t know what to make it about? Consider yourselves encouraged to make a guest comic that’s a portrait of Guilded Age characters in various TF2 roles.
Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it.
No one, not even you, will remember if the Peace Keepers were good or bad. Why they fought. Why they died. No. All that matters is that few stood against many. That’s what’s important. Battle pleases you Crom, so grant me this one request: Grant Syr’nj revenge. And if you do not listen, then the heck with you.
Seriously. If they’re gonna make that her last moment with her father, I *need* to see her burn her enemies to the ground.
Actually, I could see a mix of those two. Whip up Byron into a fury, set him loose, and then go administer to the wounded he leaves so that they die agonizing deaths of blood loss or exposure, rather than shock.
Somehow, I imagine a readout of status indicators on the Five – [destabilized] blinking in red, and HR cackling…suddenly, Syr’s turns back to green [STABILIZED].
I imagine that, for someone as magically powerful as he is, the resistance of the characters to his attempts to bring them to an untimely demise must be very hexing for him.
I think the “little Berserker in her” is what sparked the whole clishmaclaver with her dad in the first place… (and the idea of a “little Berserker” spawning within!)
Btw, I’d always read “Bruceski” as “Brewski.” Could it possibly be “Bruchesky?” Or “Brusosky?” “Brusowsky?” I am SO SORRY I have been MISPRONOUNCING your name IN MY BRAAAAIIIINN!!!!
Guy inna robe, holding aloft a glowing stick, check.
Young woman clinging to him, check.
Now we just need the caption on Panel 3: “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…”
So far this chapter, I’ve seen Gravy and now Syr more passionate and focused than ever before. Hugely enjoyed GD kickin’ butt, can’t wait to see Syr do so. Can I just say how awesome this comic is, in story and art? The best free thing on the web. It’s like ordering steaks for me and my wife: rare, and well done.
It sounds like once this war is over, Gravedust is going to have to train some new mystics. Can’t you just imagine how proud he’ll feel at the graduation ceremony when the new recruits walk to the traditional mystic school graduation song, Psychopomp and Circumstance.
Since her father got an arrow to the face, Syr has been a bit weepy. In this panel, she did an about face. Now it’s time to go face her foes. (any other way to use face is this situation?)
This is what I experienced the past two weeks;
-Worked like Hell in my clients’ gardens during a heat-wave
-Studied like crazy for a difficult, boring exam
-Went out of town for a weekend to visit a friend
-Sat writing said exam for four hours in a room so cold I think they were trying to freeze Hell over with the a/c
-Worked like Hell in my clients’ gardens to make rent on time
-Came back to Guilded Age and all Hell had broken loose while I was gone
-WTF!!!
So… This clearly tells me I am not to neglect GA for such a long period of time ever again. I have learned my lesson well.
Think Syr’nj is going to fetch Gravy more ammo.
Look at all the dead Avians, each killed with ONE SHOT. I’m taking Gravy on my next skeet hunt. Them skeets ‘r good eatin’!
Peace of advice Harky: Don’t. Screw. With. The. Medic.
We need a tf2 medic version of syr…. Perfect weapon set
Huh. Could almost imagine a full GA character set…
Something like:
Syr’Nj – Medic
Bandit – Scout
Scipio – Heavy
Best – Spy
Frigg – Pyro
Byron – Soldier
Gravedust – Sniper
E-Merl – Engineer
And I guess Rachel would default to Demo, simply because there’s no good fit for either of them?
I would have Rachel be soldier and Byron be Demo, since both Byron and Demoman are axe-wielding berserkers. Rachel is a soldier in her own right, as well.
So, this is where you reveal that this was your inspiration for the characters in the first place?
I dunno. Syr’Nj could also be Engineer.
I’d definitely make Bandit the Spy and Best the Scout instead. Also, TF2 crossover = Bandit messing with Syr’Nj’s hat in the very beginning makes perfect sense… Hat Fortress! XD

Come to think of it, I suppose E-Merl could be the Pyro. The pyro’s muffled voice could be equated with E-Merl having his foot in his mouth.
Gravy would be lose his power? That sounds very serious. >_>
And we can’t have that. We need it to power the Gravyboat.
and the Gravytrain
Trains? Boats? Back in my day, we used the Gravyflute, and a duck would come pick you up.
Crom, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it.
No one, not even you, will remember if the Peace Keepers were good or bad. Why they fought. Why they died. No. All that matters is that few stood against many. That’s what’s important. Seriously. If they’re gonna make that her last moment with her father, I *need* to see her burn her enemies to the ground.
Don’t worry about that…
I suspect she’s reaching for a very large can wup-ass as she’s leaving.
(I’m thinking that shaman circle is going to get an uninvited guest…)
Wording Check: Be lose?
Also, DAMN GIRL, THOSE ARE SOME ANGRY EYES.
I noticed that too.
Also, I think she’s about to kill them all with that glare she has going on there.
Baaaaaaah. Figures I’d typo while I’m at GenCon. This shall be fixed.
I’m guessing it’s supposed to read “…be TO lose…” as opposed to having a weird little “be” just hanging there.
The doctor is on the march.
“Demons tremble…”
To the people of the Graiya Forests, the word “doctor” means “mighty warrior.”
Demons run when a good man goes to war
Night will fall and drown the sun
When a good man goes to war
Friendship dies and true love lies
Night will fall and the dark will rise
When a good man goes to war
Demons run, but count the cost
The battle’s won, but the child is lost
@ FlyingFish
…and “Mighty Warrior” translates in many other languages as “the Oncoming Storm.”
Hmmm…..
“Goin’ on up to the Spirit in the Sky
That’s where I’m gonna go when I die
When I die an’ they lay me to rest,
Gonna go to the Place that’s the Best!”
–Doctor and the Medics (N. Greenbaum)
Very apropos, I’d say.
(Yes, you Best-ies, it all ties in. Can you give me a “WHOOP-WHOOP”?)
Wow. Pulls herself together just like that. As if I needed another reason to be impressed with Syrnj.
Syr’Nj is going to stick it to them LIKE A BOSS1
I think Syr’Nj is going to wind up Byron into a demonic frenzy and set him loose amongst the invaders
If only Syr’Nj could do ÜberCharge on Byron like in TF2.
Meet the Medic.
I imagine she’ll want to use her skills as a healer to make their deaths slower and much more painful…
I can foresee many character-molding moral actions occurring in the next few pages, and it’s going to be less than pretty.
Her second spec is Shadow Priest. The army is doomed.
Actually, I could see a mix of those two. Whip up Byron into a fury, set him loose, and then go administer to the wounded he leaves so that they die agonizing deaths of blood loss or exposure, rather than shock.
Leadership…STABILIZED.
Somehow, I imagine a readout of status indicators on the Five – [destabilized] blinking in red, and HR cackling…suddenly, Syr’s turns back to green [STABILIZED].
HR howls in frustration.
I imagine that, for someone as magically powerful as he is, the resistance of the characters to his attempts to bring them to an untimely demise must be very hexing for him.
I’m not as sure as everyone else seems to be that Syr is actually stabilized here. She seems like she’s lost it in an altogether more frightening way.
Looks like she’s got a little Berserker in her.
“Where’s your precious hippo crates now?!”
@ Bruceski
I think the “little Berserker in her” is what sparked the whole clishmaclaver with her dad in the first place… (and the idea of a “little Berserker” spawning within!)
Btw, I’d always read “Bruceski” as “Brewski.” Could it possibly be “Bruchesky?” Or “Brusosky?” “Brusowsky?” I am SO SORRY I have been MISPRONOUNCING your name IN MY BRAAAAIIIINN!!!!
*ahem*
Being an engineer, along with being a medic, she is probably going to bomb the living hell out of them.
Being an engineer, along with being a medic, she is probably going to bomb the living hell out of them.
Note to self: Let the damn page load before assuming you didn’t hit “Post Comment” the first time.
Don’t worry about it – happens to the best of us – doesn’t mean that you’re stu… Hmm. Just read your name. Nevermind:D
“Oh, right, back from the dead. Funny story. I’ll tell you sometime.”
(whew – that was about to be awkward; saved by the bel- er, the apocalyptic invasion)
Guy inna robe, holding aloft a glowing stick, check.
Young woman clinging to him, check.
Now we just need the caption on Panel 3: “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…”
If only Best were still alive, then we would have our “arrogant, charming maverick” quota filled up as well.
Well, E-Merl does have the right vest for it…
Scippy’s gonna have to grow some more hair, though.
You sure about that? I guess only Fr’nj can be certain…
Help me Gravy-Wan, you’re my only hope.
You are ENTIRELY too kind. We’ll do our best to make sure the end of the chapter does not disappoint.
You’re going to finish the chapter with Rachel and Frigg making out?
Syr’Nj is going Rambo IV on the invaders … behold the combat medic turned berserker medic
Thou SHALT harm!
It was more of a Hippocratic Suggestion anyways…
everytime i hear/read the word “hoppocratic” i think of this comic and giggle: http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2007/01/10/
And according to your avatar, Rachel giggles too.
She took the Hypocritic Oath
It sounds like once this war is over, Gravedust is going to have to train some new mystics. Can’t you just imagine how proud he’ll feel at the graduation ceremony when the new recruits walk to the traditional mystic school graduation song, Psychopomp and Circumstance.
they’d graduate with psychopomp and ceremony
I’d smell a crossover with Gunnerkrigg Court, if it wasn’t for a fundamental difference between the universes.
Looks like the medic has murder in her eyes and GD is about to help her father get revenge in the form of being ammo…
There’s a game face, a war face, and a shit-just-got real face.
Syr’nj just put on all three.
After the humbling strike against her family, Syr’Nj needs to save face.
Since her father got an arrow to the face, Syr has been a bit weepy. In this panel, she did an about face. Now it’s time to go face her foes. (any other way to use face is this situation?)
I’d say it’s an honest face. Especially as she’s decided to face reality. But that is her saving grace.
“I the last mystic, would be lose my power and my duty”
not to nitpick, but I don’t think that’s proper grammer.
Are you really gonna nit pic the grammer of someone who could kill you…then turn around and use your soul as ammunition?
Heck, if you guys really wanna nitpick -it’s spelled “grammar”
beat me to it
This just got Syrious’Nj
The composition of the third panel is bodacious, with a swirl of blue!
Like a wild berry poptart?
…Do they still make those? I want one now.
http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=wild+berry+pop+tarts
Syr’Nj is about to show Harky why they say: *Hell has no fury like a woman scorned!*
“Plus have you *seen* the damage bonus I get when I load his soul into an arrow? Say, your mom isn’t feeling a bit peckish is she? Just curious.”
All’s fair in love and raiding.
The middle of the third panel is like all those fantasy and romance novel covers – only somewhat diminished by Gravedust’s height.
Panel four: HONK, GOT YER NOSE!
ROFL!
To quote Shaky Fries, “Oh, Hell…”
Soon we will learn that you don’t have to be a berserker to rage.
From that look on Syr’Nj’s face, I’m gonna guess Lady Mercy won’t be home tonight for the Savage races.
“I used to be the leader of the Wood Elves, but then I took an arrow to the face.” … no wait, wrong MMORPG…
–Dave

Yeah, good idea to THROW A SYRINGE AT SOMEONE
Good medical practice, that
