I think the request for dismissal and discussion was more along the lines of “holy crap, we broke $20K on the Friggstarter…what did we just get ourselves into?!”
Congratulations on the achievement! Been a loyal reader since stumbling into you guys at GenCon some time past. Good pitching at the booth drew me in, the whole concept of the comic and world set the hook, and the great storytelling and art have kept me on the line. Proud to support you guys, keep up the great work!
“Well let’s find out. ”
Before the negociators came up, was it the case ? Were the trolls at Gastonia’s doors ? Unless a link to a page saying and prooving otherwise is put forth, that’s a no.
Actually, thus far, the Savage races have dealt Gastonia numerous defeats. We’ve quite quickly forgotten a certain Kraken-related incident that would have single handedly wiped out the navy had a certain band of intrepid misfits not interfered. There’s also that whole breaking Harky’s army and literally killing him, thing that Syr’nj pulled. So, yeah, without adventurers wood elves would be extinct, Gastonia would have lost its entire Navy, and the savage races would still have an army of war machines, uncountered because Rendar is ALSO an adventurer, and he’s Gastonia’s chief siege engineer.
“the Savage races have dealt Gastonia numerous defeats.”
And so what ? The Gastonian military have held them out so far. Sure, the adventurers can show off a few times, here and then, just not to look too much like decorations. If they had to put up with the same crap the enlisted, official grunts had, well, no adventurers. Only here for the loot, I tell ya.
Oh please. Like Harky’s the only troll ’round here. Those mercs/adventurers are so full of themselves and believe they are so essential. Well, cemetries are full of people who believed they were so essential. Yet, the died and the world continued rolling around.
No, no. That’s not what I meant. What I meant was GA (Gastonian Army) held the line, while the adventureres just show up late, land a few lucky strikes and get much more glory.
Final line of defense, huh ?
Yeah, right. Typical mercs. They let the real soldiers do the biggest part of the job, try to take down a boss that later resurrect – very efficient, right ? – and they claim all the glory and whine for more.
Internal debate: because even when the presenter’s *ahem* in bed with the details of the matter, it’s bad form to say “the trolls ARE at our gates you pompous prideful idiot” in front of them.
The quantity of comments is definitely less than in earlier comics.
While this would typically be an expected pattern on any webcomic, I noticed previously that the vast majority of comments against any given comic were made in a very small space of time prior to its posting… following which there was very little activity.
That indicates that far fewer comments are being posted per unit time than used to be the case… which may or not indicate a decline in readership.
As far as quality goes though… that is a bit of an abstraction. So far as I’m concerned, most of the comments have always been of low quality. Such is the nature of humanity : over 90% of it is crap.
Subtlety!
I mean, yay subtlety!

Does that mean that subscribers get access to a special chat channel if they get enough Reputation with the military?
“Would you have us believe the trolls would be at our doors without you?”
Well let’s find out. Hows about we get a bunch of adventurers together, head on out of country for a while and see where that goes?
Rendar! Tell the boys to pack their bags! We just earned ourselves a vacation!

“see where that goes?”
Same than previous.

Since they’ve been into action for a longer time, the Gastonians soldiers have taken the hard blows, more than the adventurers
“Everyone in this room who’s cut pieces off Harky raise their hands. That’s what I thought.”
Oh please. Like Harky’s the only troll ’round here. Those mercs/adventurers are so full of themselves and believe they are so essential. Well, cemetries are full of people who believed they were so essential. Yet, the died and the world continued rolling around.
dude come on, Harky is the Big Boss Troll. Hes not the only Troll, but hes THE Troll
Meanwhile, Syr’nj politely draws attention to the fact that she singlehandedly broke the Savage Race’s army in Bial’vzek.
“she singlehandedly broke the Savage Race’s army in Bial’vzek.”
… while being possessed by a goddess. Singlehandedly. Hm hm.
“Well, cemetries are full of people who believed they were so essential.”
Guess everyone who died in the Gastonian Army was just a moron then…afterall, not like we needed them to hold the line.
No, no. That’s not what I meant. What I meant was GA (Gastonian Army) held the line, while the adventureres just show up late, land a few lucky strikes and get much more glory.
Nice rebuttle…

Okay now how big is your ~evidence~?
Kur’ik and Lectrus ain’t nothing to fuck with.
Show me your evidence, my evidence demands it!
No no. You other evidence.
*Your
I’m afraid my other evidence is purely circumstantial.

“Do you see the holiday tree?”
“Shit, did you bring a gift?”
“Drunken riot? No, the drinking didn’t start until after the riot ended.”

Try using a spear without the haft. Try using it without the head. Tell me which works better.
Without the haft ? Isn’t that even possible ? lol
Just to be clear, you’re arguing for his point, correct?

is it me or has the quality of comments declined lately :-(
The quality of the comic, on the other hand, is as awesome as ever. Keep it up!
Nah.
