THAT won’t be a happy meeting.

I wonder if the Admiral’s that calculating or that clueless?

I am pretty sure he’s just being spiteful. Not particularly calculating, but he still knows EXACTLY what’s going to happen.

Yeah, Syr isn’t going to like this and the admiral surely knows it. Caneghem is especially bitter about it. Something awesome is gonna happen either way.

So either he’s branching out into politics or he’ll be a thorn in the side of all Elves. Either way, I’m stumped.

I thought you were a sky elf? Dammit, still can’t tell those apart.

Either that or Syr’s gonna be an old friend of Embraisch (or family?) and it turns out he’s always been like this, and she’s happy that he’s found a place for himself.

Sending Annunziata into a barely veiled fit of rage. Now that’s something I’d like to see.

Looks like Embraisch’Nj was getting carried by his “Yes, it’s wood” routine, almost leveling up in douchebaggery.

And since we’re here… if wood elves are 23% wood, what about shit elves?

(I don’t even remember the actual name of shit elves, looks like the “bestiary” was taken off the archives and nobody answered me if it was promoted to “extra content”. I’d gladly fork the money for that, but… what’s there? Archive binging isn’t the same that it used to be. Perma-deleted at Erica’s request?)

I recall that ‘shit elves’ was the colloquial term. The technical name was City Elves.

Not that far off. It would hit the spot if they still were in the Dung Ages.

We never had the Bestiary on our website, other than maybe a shot of its cover for promotional purposes one day. And even then, I’m pretty sure we didn’t do that either.

So if you want to know more about the Bestiary, then you’ll have to ask her!

Shit elves are not a specific race, per se. They’re any half-elf, or “Miscellaneous Elf” that’s been cross-bred enough to no longer resemble their predecessors. Shit Elf is also applied to social outcasts such as Syr’Nj once was earlier in the strip.

Basically, any elf that doesn’t officially belong to the greater tribes (Sky, Wood, Winter) is a Shit Elf.

“Your website”. Odd. I had the frames saved for reference, but well, HD crash (I liked the troll description and the gnoll’s grin). All I can remember was that I’ve seen it during an archive binge before the five-times-per-week schedule, like some filler between chapters if I’m not mistaken.

When I first found they weren’t there (wherever it was hosted) anymore, I thought Gravedust’s dear diary would be gone too.

Anyway, thanks for the answer. I hope she can reply about it.

It was a little summary of the major races, drawn by Phil during a con week. I am almost 100% certain of this. It was written in the style of a Gastonian bestiary (perhaps of the children’s variety), complete with rampant bigotry. I’m surprised you forgot, Phil.

          It was by Phil?

And I agree with the children’s variety part. The descriptions themselves wouldn’t fit a “serious” bestiary. The troll description was pretty much a “take that” at the Internet in general and… well, the whole shit/city elf thing.

Also, I think it predated the first appearance (or at least first major appearance) of the land sharks, if date guesstimation is of any help.

Yes, this is what I remember, too. Hilarity ensued about the land sharks and I’m sure that I wasn’t the only one who was delighted to recognize them when they entered the plot later.

I’m not made of wood (last I checked).

I still want to punch him.

Long-time reader here…please tell me I’m not the only one that thinks Embraisch’Nj’s expression in the first panel doesn’t look a heck of a lot like Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2…?

Embraisch’Nj was designed long before Borderlands 2 came out. So I agree, the resemblance is there, but I’ll also go ahead and say “Coincidental.”

Well, it’s either the “big power, big responsibility”-thing or he just doesn’t care enough to do that.
Cool third option: He DID it but didn’t actually say anything.

He did, unfortunately, the curse backfired and now this is the only face he can show. Actually, Caneghem is quite the fun and party lover. You can’t see it, but he’s having a blast inside right now !

Got to be sort of easy with Caneghem there, that sky elf is so wooden, looks like they just copied and pasted him the different panels.
I wonder if he just stands there on rollerskates or something and just wind magics himself forward so he doesn’t have to break pose.

Is the gap between ‘you brought’ (2nd last panel) and ‘no *it* did not’ deliberate objectification, an attempt at naturalistic dialogue, or a minor grammatical error by the writer? WE MAY NEVER KNOW.

I can’t be the only one who loves/hates the fact that Embraisch’Nj obviously is a role model now. :-/
(I love it for the good story telling, I hate it because it mirrors some questionable idols in our world.)
