And the cats get into a terrible fight over who is the most beautiful cat. Meanwhile, the old man finds a modest cat that didn’t get in the fight, and brings it home with him, and they live happily ever after.
I’m thinking we’re about to see the same thing, only with sharks.
I feel like strength is probably a better quality for a champion than modesty. Harky seems to agree, if his selection of Goblaurence is any indication. I’d take his request at face value.
Well one of them appears to have caught a tiger while the others are carrying some kind of ungulate. He might be a candidate.
Speaking of candidates, though it is quite obvious Harky was referring to Auraugu when he mentioned one who accept without question, there is a small place in the back of my mind that wouldn’t be surprised if he refused. Maybe only because he’s such an obvious choice but he has also proven to be quite introspective recently. There might be something with his insistence of being the champion of his own people that might spur him to defer the title of Gnoll champion of the Savage Races to someone else. Or perhaps he will hand down Champion of the Fuzzy Peoples and accept this new title. Or perhaps he will just dance with joy. For some reason, all would be equally expected to me.
Well I would be disappointed if the Champion of the Fuzzy People isn’t going to be involved, but as a wise Pirate Captain once said “Get used to disappointment.”
Whoever said “hey we gotta save some for the other guys” has the kind of moderation, team outlook, and long-term thinking that Harky has been looking for. That’s the landshark champion. He hasn’t been looking for particularly good fighting champions – check out the loser behind him.
I’m guessing he sees some kind of potential in Penk. Perhaps his desire to succeed, youthful enthusiasm and such…though I doubt that would do him much good if he ends up facing off with somebody like Byron or Scipio.
I can’t wait to see the Land Sharks start their post-hunt carne-val. After all, it’s only on big occasions like these that even the most lovelorn Land Shark gets their baby back.
Right. The land sharks are all id – “That Guy!”, making them an anti-Frigg.
The Avian is clearly holding in a lot of repressed madness, making him an anti-Byron!
The Goblin Engineer is the anti-Science Syrn’j,
The Dwarves will have a blind faith anti=Gravedust (who for all his faith-based nature, spends a lot of time questioning why things are the way they are.),
and the low self confidence, support character anti-Bandit is the Troll Bard.
Harky isn’t just building up Champions of the Savage Races, he’s picking a copy of the team that almost beat him last time!
Eh… I see where you’re coming from, but I see Magda (the fiery dwarf lady) as more of an anti-Rachel. Both are dealing with religious issues, particularly of past religions (the mystics for Magda, the Bloodshot Eye and her own open heart movement that she helped put down for Rachel). They also both have very respectful ways of speaking and thinking.
Similarly, Peng… err, Penk, rather… is more of an anti-E-Merl. Both are “losers,” both are, shall we say, unlucky in love, both have relatively meek personalities, both have only relatively minor fighting strength… it seems a better fit to me.
I would peg Auraugu as more the anti-Bandit. Both are boisterous and caring… in their owns ways. One is the self-proclaimed champion of his peoples, the other is an exile who was cast out yet has repeatedly tried to be a champion for her people (especially during the Gnome-town business).
Which leaves Gravedust and Scipio unaccounted for. And Best, but he’s gone and no one cares about him.
Honestly, we haven’t even met the landshark champion yet, so I could easily see him as being more of an anti-Scipio than an anti-Frigg. But then Scipio is already sort of an anti-Frigg himself, even though he’s on the… on the, uhh… crap. Maybe Scipio is about to defect to the Worlds Rebellion. Nah, that would just be silly.
Right? <_<
*ahem* Regardless, it's a bit too early to say whom exactly the landshark champion will counter. Could be Frigg, could be Scipio, could even be Gravedust (there's a twist I'd like to see! A landshark with the personality to actually qualify as the counterpart to Gravy!).
…no, but seriously, I have just now talked myself into worrying that Scipio is a candidate for betraying our heroes and going over to the WR.
Of course, now that I think about it more, I could also see Auraugu as being an anti-Gravedust. Particularly with the wisdom we’ve recently seen on display from Auraugu. We’ve seen so much of him on screen, but there’s a lot we don’t know about the champion of the fuzzy peoples. Both he and Gravy represent parts of their peoples culture and past.
Still, I don’t quite buy that argument myself, and prefer the Auraugu/Bandit connection. Partially because I think it fits better, and partially because I want to see a landshark version of Gravedust. :p
“…no, but seriously, I have just now talked myself into worrying that Scipio is a candidate for betraying our heroes and going over to the WR.”
I’d say that was a pretty low probability outside of complete magical mind wankery as he has his wood elf lady who would have to be troubled by the recent genocide in their heartland caused by the same races that are rebelling.
He’s a cool customer and probably a little opportunistic based on the gladiator background but he’s also stuck by the other members and seems to care.
Christ, if anyone ever makes a live-action Guilded Age movie, this (if not any) scene where the Land Sharks are all together is going to be terrifying.
How totally unhelpful. I hate how these articles never actually mention who started using it the way it’s now used, or when, or why. It’s just “In 2010 a Kindergarten teacher took the original photo of her dog. In 2012 the image got used a few times in a totally different context that has nothing to do with this meme. In May 2013 the meme was suddenly everywhere.” Thanks, stupid internet.
Everybody get on this meat
(We got the meat)
We know you can eat all this meat
(We got the meat)
Jump in! Chow down!
(We got the meat)
Pass that meat around
Ok, I’m a little in love with bucktooth, gum-smile landshark. his eyes are so excited and empty of aggression! He’s like your dorky little sibling before headgear. I just want to cuddle him and feed him meat gobbets. Please Please let wonk-tooth be the guy not killed in the free-for-all!
“HEY WHAT IS THAT GUY SAYING?”
“HEY THAT GUY WANTS TO TALK TO THE STRONGEST GUY.”
“HEY THAT GUY DIDN’T USE PRONOUNS.”
“HEY WHAT KIND OF STRENGTH DOES THAT GUY MEAN?”
“HEY WHY DIDN’T THAT GUY USE PRONOUNS?”
“HEY DOES THAT GUY WANT SOMEONE TO LIFT SOMETHING HEAVY?”
“HEY IS THAT GUY RACIST AGAINST LAND SHARKS?”
“HEY GUYS WHAT ABOUT THE MORAL STRENGTH OF A GUY’S CONVICTIONS?”
“HEY WHERE’S THE MEAT?”
“HEY LET’S EAT THE MEAT!”
“MEAT!”
“HEY GUYS WHAT CAN CHANGE THE NATURE OF A GUY?”
“HEY THE WORD ‘THE’ IS MORE LIKE AN ADJECTIVE THAN A PRONOUN, GUY.”
“HEY GOOD CALL GUY.”
“HEY THANKS GUY.”
“STILL, WEIRD THAT BIG BOSS GUY DIDN’T USE IT.”
“HEY YEAH THAT’S TRUE GUY.”
HEY! Those guys! Those guys! There! Hey! Damnit! Hey, I love those guys! Hey, yeah, there! Wow, they have meat!
I like meat too! Hey, I want some meat!
They’re like murlocs who mated with motivational speakers. They’re AWESOME!
Wait, I thought Landsharks had something akin do a hivemind. A very, very dumb one. And that their intelligence was based off of how many were in their group. How can only ONE of them be one of Harky’s champions?
That one land shark. You know the one I’m talking about, frame one, middle of the first row. Hurp Durp Landshark. He will be a Gravatar. Mark my words.
Would love to have something on how the heck these guys evolved and then became capable of surviving in a desert… I’m assuming the gills are completely vestigial by now or they would be a bugger in the sandy desert. Without the blowing sand and with enough water to drink I could see them evolving into a way to vent heat in the tropics or something.
…I wanna see what one of their intellectuals look like.
It’s the guy who said the most words. Mark me, you heard it here first. Keep an eye on that one.
But… those word bubbles aren’t pointing towards anyone. Not even in any particular direction. I don’t know who to keep my eye on.
So I guess that would be the “HEY WE GOTTA SAVE SOME FOR THE OTHER GUYS”
Most likely? Gastonian Bankers.
“Hey I got an idea!”
Huh. He actually *was* talking about the landsharks.
Oh, what’s that? Just me, over here, not bragging or anything.
Oh shush, I’ve already acknowledged your greatness. Check the last page’s comments. ;-P
I don’t think Penk was expecting that.
He looks kind of like he killed He-Man for his chest plate.
Penk won a fight? This calls for a celebration!
Who the man? He the man!
Does anyone remember this children’s book? An elderly couple decide they would like a cat, so the old man goes out and finds a valley with hundreds of beautiful cats. And the cats get into a terrible fight over who is the most beautiful cat. haha I remember that book! XD
I feel like strength is probably a better quality for a champion than modesty. Harky seems to agree, if his selection of Goblaurence is any indication. I’d take his request at face value.
‘What kind of sandwich do you want, Kowalski?’ ‘MEAT!’ ‘OK. What kind of bread do you want it on, Kowalsi?’ ‘MEAT!’
Stanley: Hey, there! Stella, Baby!
Stella: Don’t holler at me like that. Hi, Mitch.
Stanley: Catch!
Stella: What?
Stanley: Meat!
Ah, Ren and Stimpy.
And what would you like to drink, Kowalski?
Toast meat!
Hey they got meat!
I’m not sure how you got that impression.
Well one of them appears to have caught a tiger while the others are carrying some kind of ungulate. He might be a candidate.

I almost forgot about those guys.
Good guy, land sharks, lookin’ out for the other guys.
since, apparently, land sharks are into meat, it’s only natural you send them at the meat shield, therefore land shark champion must be the anti-frigg
Thought the cigar was the tank
He is the off tank. No matter how strong, he’s just an npc.
Scipio motivates Frigg to draw more aggro by threatening to upstage her by simply being awesome and in the same general vicinity.
I love Land Sharks.
…I love lamp.
Do you really love the lamp? Or are you just saying that because you saw it?
I…love lamp!
I’m now wishing I could caption pages of this comic. There are some of the best faces I’ve ever seen on these sharks!
It is only after a hunting party that one gets to meat the land sharks.
I can’t wait to see the Land Sharks start their post-hunt carne-val. After all, it’s only on big occasions like these that even the most lovelorn Land Shark gets their baby back.

When it comes to Scipio it all depends on where the Stogie lies.
Scipio is actually a landshark in a human suit.
Christ, if anyone ever makes a live-action Guilded Age movie, this (if not any) scene where the Land Sharks are all together is going to be terrifying.
…And thus Harky began the 14th Great Landshark Civil War.
…of the week.
I kinda like the Landsharks. They’re refreshingly uncomplicated. No political drama or soul-searching for them!
They’re like Orks, in that way.
Vote Shark President, “lookin’ out for the other guy”.
The Landshark’s ultimate torture: a bowl of salad.
They remind me of Shark Fujishiro.
I would love to see the RP for these guys. All capslock. All the time…
Wow
Such Meat
Very Shark
Much Hey
Wow
Alright, could someone explain to me where this dog thing came from? I just turned on the internet one day and it was everywhere.
http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/doge

Some of the articles are more informative than others. They don’t always have the full story.
99% of the time, it started on 4chan, and then icanhascheezburger picks it up.
Meat.
HEY I GOT SOME MEAT
Also, feeding frenzy
We got the meat
We got the meat
We got the meat
Hey!
We got the meat
Crap, now I’ve got the Go-Gos stuck in my head.
Everybody get on this meat

If it’s wrong to want these guys to win versus wood elves then I don’t want to be right.
Their champion better be named Khan D’Grawm.
Bruce. Got to go for the pop culture reference.
Oh, Gastonia has a serious problem now: Harky’s about to sign NIMONA on as a champion.
I gotta admit, these guys are JAWESOME!
They bite, AND they fight!
We’re gonna need a bigger cigar.
Is it just me, or are sharks always happy and smiling?
And… did they catch Lion-o? o_O
“HEY WHAT IS THAT GUY SAYING?”

I get the feeling that “Strongest Guy” is an official title in land shark society where “the” doesn’t apply.
Actually, they all kind of look like clones to me, se the toughest guy would be… any and all of them ??
I realized this just yesterday:
Land sharks are apparently considered more intelligent than orcs.
…Excuse me, I’ll have to dwell on that for a while.
Land Sharks are a hive-mind gestalt consciousness kinda thingy. Individually, they’re dumber than a sack of hammerheads.
I suspect that working in concert they’re rather fearsome and clever.
e.g. their field of spears that they shepherded Best into way back when.
I predicted there’d be a ranged attacker and I’m sticking with that for now. My prediction is that the champion will be a land laser shark.
And that’s where the engy goblin comes in. Frickin’ awesome.
HEY! Those guys! Those guys! There! Hey! Damnit! Hey, I love those guys! Hey, yeah, there! Wow, they have meat!
I like meat too! Hey, I want some meat!

Look at the size of him. He’s smarter than a group combined because he ATE a dozen or two, and now he IS a group combined!
