Let’s go with Paladin. Invoker’s don’t have Charisma as one of their main stats :)

Naaaa i go with Blackguard. Anti-paladins are always way better. And i think it fits him well as a servant of a rather dark god.

Dark really seems to be the only kind of god the setting offers.

Depending on the edition. In fourth ypu can e a paladin or blackguard of any god, and dark doesnt necessarily mean evil. Sometimes a good god might need someone to do something obviously evil to cause something great to happen(doing the wrong thing for the best reasons). The god won’t have one of its pure followers do this, that could corrupt them. That god will have followers specifically used as a sort of “hitman” or assassing group, and these are avengers or black guards. Ofcourse this is flipflopped for the evil gods, but the evil gods don’t use paladins to do good things, they are used as healers in their armies.

And this is the kind of Bullshit (well this and many other things) that make me ignore the 4th edition all together. Seriously, good gods that use Assasin groups?
Dark gods that use Paladins as healers? (heeellloo? ever heard of Dark-clerics?)
the first is just to modern thinking and unrealistic(Seriously that just make the “good” gods Hypocrits) ,the latter is just…..dumb.
Sorrry i would like to phrase that nicer but i just cant.

Anyway. He may have the best interests for his folks but he thinks his goals can only be obtained through brute Force and War and that he is right to do so . Hence he made a Pact with a Dark god. Yeah Lawful-evil Blackguard i would say.

actually in dragon lance , the gods of choas used lord Soth to usher in the cataclism and the good good used Raistlen when he was a “black” magic user and served under hes dark cleric master, to change the path of the traveling forest from consuming everything including their lands to becoming a movable wall around the towers of magic.

in both cases the gods were the “pure” good and “pure” evil at work using less then normal vassals for their plans.

Oh really ? Just because you’re good doesn’t mean you are naive.
Plus, if Good Gods were not to use assassins, then no good country, no democracy would need special forces units to do some unsavoury job that still needs to be done.

Even in the real world with the Christian religion, a good God still uses killers. In the scripture, all things came from God & that even includes Satan; recall that Satan IS still one of God’s Angels, but he’s a Fallen One.

All of God’s Angels do God’s bidding, in one way or another. Satan spreads evil only because God still allows him to; do you think he could if it was against God’s will? Nope, God could unmake Satan, just as He made him.

Another of God’s Angels is known as the Avenger; the one who smites at God’s command such as the first-born sons of Egypt, even as Moses was there to lead the Hebrews out of there.

Yeah, there’s plenty of room for good deities to do bad things…They operate on a level that mere mortals can’t understand & they don’t fit into the “moral codes” of mere mortals.

On another note- DAMN. Who among the Peace Makers can directly stand up to Hammerhead should both they and the Champions go face-to-face and head-to-head? He crushed three of his brothers at the same time with ease. Frigg comes to mind as the only one with the raw might to match him, but hers is not a reliable power nor has Frigg shown herself as using it… tactically. :-(

I think up until now Penk wasn’t officially one of the Champions. (I haven’t been able find where it was announced). But if he wasn’t, he just made it by acclaim, and Harky is about to burst with pride.

Now, who do you think the Champions will appoint as their speaker to the leadership council? I would love to hear Iver’s and Don Gobligno’s responses if Champions they appointed Hammerhead, but I think we all expect it will be Magda, she is the only one with the patience needed to deal with politicians.

He’s still not one of the champions… and neither is Hammerhead yet. Harky *just* finished saying that only he and the avian leader had the authority to appoint people as champions. Harky hadn’t actually invited Hammerhead to be a champion.

I suspect Penk is about to get told off and then eaten for vastly overstepping his authority.

Yeeaah…Locke you’re not so great at this reading comprehension thing, assuming you’re not being ironic.

The whole reason Harky here in the first place is in search of a Champion from the land sharks. Penk just persuaded the obvious candidate to take the role FOR Harky. All he did was save Harky some verbal sparring, and maybe literal sparring.

Just been re-reading page 15 and 16 of this chapter.
What we see in today’s page is the direct result of Harky discussion with Gondolessa.
From page 16, “Search a champion among the most unhinged of our coalition”. So let’s visit the landsharks.
From page 15, “Haven’t you be pruning the feathers of a potential successor” “Not to his knowledge” and page 16 again “take the boy with you”. Hence today’s panel 3 “Atta boy. He will do.”

The best proof of trust a mentor can show is to let his pupil take risks. Harky is a great mentor.
