I think it is together, but Caneghem is correct if he thinks Syr’Ng is getting pulled into their trap. By now she should know what kind of people she is dealing with and that Bedard is a self-interested propagandist. It would be far better for her to play along for the time being.
Is he a precog? She hasn’t even touched upon the grieving widow role (yet). Saying “yeah yeah we know your husband is dead” doesn’t really answer any of the legitimate questions she raised.
So? She’s expounding on the values of the Adventurers Guild, not harping on about how her hubby was killed. Is she not allowed to mention Byron even in passing any more?
Yes but it’s not supposed to affect her judgement in matters of state or be used as an argument. At least that’s the angle Caneghem is going for whatever his reasons may be.
I like him. I was afraid he’d end up being in the hippie brigade. Being a protagonist doesn’t mean you are above the usual scrutiny. I think the audience tends to forget that.
Yeah, going on about how she lost Byron when she was just told that the others were axed because they put things too much on a personal level wasn’t all that smart. Think Cranky Old Elf did her a favor here.
That’s exactly why it’s a favor, though. Chances are they want her off the council too, but they don’t have an excuse — so they try to push her into giving them one. Cranky is shutting down that line of attack, but since he’s being a jerk about it the others might not even notice he’s doing it.
He appears to be a very old sky elf with consider magical might. Clever is probably his great-grandson’s middle name.
It definitely feels like a preventative jab, reminding Syr to keep her argument professional lest she open herself to forced retirement. Real, raw emotion has no place in a political forum when you’re not in a position of absolute power.
Doubtful. I’m guessing that Syr’nj storms out and the rest pledge themselves to the common cause, resulting in the joined hands we saw at the cover page.
So the media “reported” what “could be” as if it were fact . . . never mind any of that boring “reporting” or “investigating” let’s just sell the papes, eh?
First thought: Wow Caneghem, I didn’t think you were stupid.
Second Thought (after reading comments): Huh, maybe you’re not. I suspect there’s still going to be some pretty severe bruising though.
Third Thought (after reading even more comments): Oh…. oh internet. /sigh
If you had read the comment that he deleted you would understand why he deleted it. I personally have no problem with a deletion policy from the administrator of a site that provides me entertainment at no required charge to myself. And if I were to ever make comments that were petty towards the people providing me with free entertainment, of which I am not obligated to indulge, then I would hope he would delete my immature post as well, to save me from the embarrassment.
Just be sure you don’t go mad with power. David Willis and his mad-dog fanbase is a perfect example of what happens when you go overboard and start deleting comments that even politely suggest another viewpoint.
So is there ever a point in the story where we’re supposed to want to cheer for the humans? Because every time we see their authority figures I end up rooting for the ‘savage’ races even more. The fact that they don’t have land sharks on their side doesn’t help at all either.
Today I learned that those last two word balloons on the previous page did not belong to Syr’nj. I guess I wasn’t paying close enough attention to see the tail.

… first time you open your mouth in front of Syr’Nj and you say that? Nice knowing you…
And here we all thought elves were kept out of the council because of bigotry… turns out they just don’t know when to keep their mouths shut…
What is this thing about people forgetting that Caneghem can talk? Why is it a thing?
The first time Caneghem spoke to Syr’Nj: January 29, 2013.
Or in case you were talking about Mr Bedard, the first time he spoke to Syr’Nj was on the 28th.
He has a point. If she wants to survive in that assembly she’s going to need to get her shyt together.
Pretty much. You don’t oppose ruthlessness by being EXTRA passionate.
I mean, unless you’re some sort of berserker.
The timing was perfect, too. He stopped her right before she got into creative insults.

Shut up, Donald ! Orwhatsyername…

“You took the life’s work of the >- best man I’ve ever known -< …"
So? She’s expounding on the values of the Adventurers Guild, not harping on about how her hubby was killed. Is she not allowed to mention Byron even in passing any more?
The way she said it makes it sound like it’s a personal Byron-centered matter for her rather than having to do with the Adventurers’ Guild as a whole.
I don’t think it’s a secret that she is grieving for Byron. She doesn’t HAVE to say anything for them to assume she is a “grieving widow.”
Yes but it’s not supposed to affect her judgement in matters of state or be used as an argument. At least that’s the angle Caneghem is going for whatever his reasons may be.
Mr. Sky elf is not helping. This government will soon be free of non-humans.
I’m pretty sure he is helping, I’m just not sure how yet. :P
Oh shit…

I was just thinking that.
Her face tells me she didn’t at all expect it from him, though. I hope she’ll listen.
It’s rather galling after Iwatami berated her for not grieving, though.

hmmm, so you think he’s that clever? He just might be.

Miyamoto berated her for not grieving, not Iwatani. Iwatani has too much of a silver tongue to say such a thing.
Bye, Felicaelf
….They are so dead.
Doubtful. I’m guessing that Syr’nj storms out and the rest pledge themselves to the common cause, resulting in the joined hands we saw at the cover page.
Also, IWATANI IS A CULTIST, Syr! I keep yelling at the screen and no one hears me!
Cultist Collaborator, but yes in a technical sense.
So the media “reported” what “could be” as if it were fact . . . never mind any of that boring “reporting” or “investigating” let’s just sell the papes, eh?
So… business as usual like most news sites ?
…and it was balanced and fair.
First thought: Wow Caneghem, I didn’t think you were stupid.

Your daily reminder that I just don’t give a fuck about deleting comments I don’t like anymore ~~ <3
You ever did that?
I only recall once you writing something about “accountability” in regards to not allowing (or implementing) editable commentaries.
What those true winners got, an official Black Hole?

Fuck you, Caneghem. She barely even completed her sentence before you interrupted. Hardly constitutes as “playing the grieving widow”.
I hope Syr’nj tears you a good one.
Good move, my big mouthed friend. Prepare to get slapped into next week.
So, people in Gastonia are all up in arms because a creepy cloaked figure is dropping raw meat near playgrounds. Cultists I say!

Are we to presume Byron’s already rezzed, or merely that the Heads don’t look too kindly on a boss dating her subordinate?
