Yeah… she was kinda out on a limb. She should probably branch off into a different direction, before they ask her to pack her trunk and leave… I think she’ll twig to this, but she should take care cleave to the root, or she’ll bark her knuckles.

I like how Ardaic sets her up, here. He sounds like he’s questioning her motives, but by delivering it as a question he’s giving her the perfect opportunity to frame the debate without interruption.

    Political masterclass.

I completely agree! His lines might be scripted, in the broad sense that he’s anticipated this eventuality and how each player will respond, but she is responding naturally and serving his purposes nicely.

Like I said before, I hope he’s not secretly one of the cult leaders (or something similar), because that would be a massive pitfall for the heroes to overcome.

Oh, that’s clever, I didn’t consciously catch that. He’s doing a good job of making it sound like an insult, while actually giving her a platform. It serves her interests while appearing loyal to the others.

He’s done a lot of subtle things like this in the past, like convincing Syr’Nj to go after the cultists. He’s either against the adventurers and not very good at it, or he’s for them and the best manipulator in the room.

There’s no real debate here, they all seem to have planned for Syr’Nj’s reaction and so far she’s made no argument that couldn’t have been easily anticipated. She’s clearly being railroaded.

Why is Ardaic stepping closer to her, though? He was behind Jarvis in the previous comic, now he’s moved forward… is his expecting some kind of physical altercation?
