Way too far to the left, unless Elven anatomy is very different from human. (The heart is centred, but the left is slightly larger, thus the myth that it sits on the left. But even by the myth, it’s not that far over. Looks like he only barely caught her chest.)
At that angle, it would also probably slide along the sternum, rather than penetrating; tt’s too high an angle to get between the ribs. Looks more like a surprise mastectomy than a fatal blow to the heart. You want to come down behind the collarbone for that kind of thing.
Of course, “I gave my left breast for you” is a lot less dramatic than “I gave my life,” so I guess we’ll see.
On top of that, Wood Elves seem to have a different circulatory system. Remember waaaaaaaay back in Chapter One, page 14? “You’re leaking sap from the trunk. Staunching that is first priority before root rot sets in.”
Given other anatomical differences, such as the fact that she can pull in a full two liters of water from her roots(toes), it wouldn’t surprise me if Wood Elves didn’t have a heart, but they circulated moisture through their body much like a tree, through pressure. Which would also explain why they tend to bleed in spurts or jets.
Their blood is red (unless that’s a lore mishap) so I would assume their internal organs are similar to that of Sky Elves and hence Humans, despite the evolution towards a more plant-like being (yeah I know, bringing evolution to a Fantasy setting…)
Also, wrong angle, no? The Italian Stiletto was always delivered from behind but UP to get under the rubs. It’s incredibly hard to blindly pierce ribs from the front, and a glancing angle like that (while doing hella damage) isn’t a heart shot. Daggers aren’t bullets.
Doesn’t look good. At least a punctured lung. It looks like the blade is pointing away from the center of her chest, so it’s POSSIBLE her heart escaped injury. Even if it did, she is gravely wounded.
I like Kur’ik but she’s done. As soon as the Gastonian Illuminaty were revealed her academic purpose was finished and she became the typical noble sacrifice that would preserve Syr’s life in the coming struggle. It’s how stories go.
I always like to think they went into a little pocket of time separate from the rest of the universe. Them and magical girls doing transformations because the idea of forcing people to stand around waiting is just too annoying to contemplate.
My money says the Heads knew what her decision was before she was done speaking to them, and have decided to deal with her as they have every other problem.
Good news is, she’s still got a spare.
Bad news is, she’s not going to be spared.
Good news is, at least she wasn’t speared!
Bad news is, lefty will no longer be sphere’d.
Not sure I buy that ceiling wedge. The assassin is even at maximum extension, so there’s not any wiggle room to muscle into any sort of braced position.
That doesn’t explain the foot grip. They’d have to have their body bridged upward at the waist at least a little to brace there, but they’re just tall enough to reach at full extension.
I’m still running on the assumption that an npc just ganked another npc, and if that’s the case, Kur’ik is one hell of a companion. Syr better hurry it up with that brez doh.
This was my take on the situation: Iwatani (and the other heads) wants Syr’Nj to be part of the super special conspiracy government, because wood. And to make sure she doesn’t do what she was planning to do — skedaddle with the other Peacemakers — he made sure that they would be occupied elsewhere before Syr’Nj could warn them, and until her 24 hours are up, with the option of holding them hostage if Syr’Nj were to escape on her own.
Sending an assassin after Syr would kind of counteract the whole her-being-part-of-the-secret-cabal thing. So either I have misread Iwatani’s intentions, or the assassin is from a third party with a different agenda.
Alas, poor Kur’ik, I knew her well.
Hah. What a coincidence. The coffee machine in my office just broke too.
Oh darnit, I thought *I* got the star at first! Curse you, ScrawlingChaos!!
Was it stabbed, or did someone use non-DRM coffee?
Or did one happen after the other?
Oh my god. Kur’ik=Keurig
HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS
AW, COME ON!! CAN WE KEEP THE LIKEABLE CHARACTERS ALIVE PLEASE!?!?
There is something foul in my guild hall…
JJ, that’s not fair. Please confine your contract killings to one world.
Assassinations just don’t pay what they used to. Ya have to diversify across realities these days.
Greatest intern indeed. :( Plz survive. :(
Looks like a heart stab.:((((

Yeah, compared to a life, giving one breast seems like a booby prize…
Yeah, but “I lost my left tit saving my boss from an assassin” is badass.
No doubt the blade is also poisoned, so any wound would be fatal.
Probably with weed killer.
Argh! Right in the feels!
Doesn’t look good. At least a punctured lung. It looks like the blade is pointing away from the center of her chest, so it’s POSSIBLE her heart escaped injury. Even if it did, she is gravely wounded.

Of course she will die, but not without famous last words.
Narrative imperative commands it.
Damn, Bandit drank a permanent growth potion, went on a diet, shaved her head and is working for the Heads now.
That’s implausible.
Obviously the assassin is Best’s alt.
But we already know Bandit is Best’s alt so…
I thought we found out that Best multi-boxed a while back?
Entire team is made of Best!
Bellow it in the TF2 Heavy voice for best (snicker) effect.
And she changed her name, too!
Altair, no!
Now Syr’Nj has to stand around awkwardly for a few minutes while Kur’Ik gives him a history lesson and a quick rundown of her motivations.
I always like to think they went into a little pocket of time separate from the rest of the universe. Them and magical girls doing transformations because the idea of forcing people to stand around waiting is just too annoying to contemplate.
Stabbed thru the heart
and you’re to blame
you give ninjas
a bad name.
Actually that’s giving ninjas a rather a good name. Stabbing people through the heart is what ninjas were made for.
Yeah, but he missed his target.
Oh for fuck sake. God damnit, I actually like her.
And it continues – our heroes’ lot gets worse and worse, each and every one of them, as the plot approaches its climax.
My money says the Heads knew what her decision was before she was done speaking to them, and have decided to deal with her as they have every other problem.
Welp, I hope she wasn’t planning to use that left boob.
Good news is, she’s still got a spare.
Bad news is, she’s not going to be spared.
Good news is, at least she wasn’t speared!
Bad news is, lefty will no longer be sphere’d.
Man, I think that news falls a little flat. I feel sorta deflated just by reading it.
Not sure I buy that ceiling wedge. The assassin is even at maximum extension, so there’s not any wiggle room to muscle into any sort of braced position.
glue gun. Or possibly magnets.
The heck kind of magnets work on wood?
MAGICAL magnets, of course. I can certainly see the sky elves being redo ally offended that magnets don’t naturally work on wood.
Fucking magnets, how do they work ?!
Take the Lodestone quest. You get a +2 weapon against Iron Golems.
And I don’t wanna talk to no alchemist
them motha*****z lyin’ and gettin’ me pissed
Not to mention, how the heck did he get up there to begin with?!?
Those are round beams, not square. That may help. Notice how the fingers are not visible? They go over the bend.
That doesn’t explain the foot grip. They’d have to have their body bridged upward at the waist at least a little to brace there, but they’re just tall enough to reach at full extension.
The assassin was planning to enter Ninja Warrior (aka Sasuke) but has just found out he will never pass the Body Prop obstacle in the 3rd stage.
I’m still running on the assumption that an npc just ganked another npc, and if that’s the case, Kur’ik is one hell of a companion. Syr better hurry it up with that brez doh.
I must applaud this guy on his killer hiding spot.
I think she got the point.
Waitaminute.
Assassin?
Butt she got stabbed in the chest!
Here: Have an internet.
God dammit, stop murdering everybody! It’s extremely rude!
The plot thickens.
