New Comics Every Weekday - Written by T Campbell & Phil Kahn - Illustrated by John & Jason Waltrip
Then you really should be armoring your neck, huh?
My thoughts exactly.
I don’t see anything wrong with the lettering, but you guys forgot the alt text!
There we go. LOL ZOMG HE’S A TROLL AND 4CHAN TROLLS ARE LIKE A HYDRA LOLOLOL HURR DURRR!!!!
no trolls survive anything short of fire or acid, decapitation just slwos them down, they get thre head back and it reataches, so a fire ball is waht is called for here
I beg to differ here. Cutting the head off kills most creatures, and trolls aren’t really an exception to this.
Trolls regrow lost limbs in 1d6 minutes. Or they can be reattached near instantly.
Hmm, not sure if it is used often but I did read certain version of rules in which trolls, even if hacked into multiple pieces will regenerate. Sometimes into more than one troll if given enough time. Then again, those troll were the stereotypical 10 foot tall, green warty dumb as a rock types. While Harki is quite big and intimidating, doesn’t really fit to rest of the profile too well.
Chunky Salsa Rule takes priority, I think.
also, the spikes on his shoulderpads help prevent decap.
Go for the big gem on his stomach! That’s obviously his weak point!
No, he just has poor taste in fashion. That’s his true weakness.
…..I call Shenanigans… They are clearly too low level to be going up against an Epic Level Boss with Regeneration.
Also: EEEE!!! Bandit is on a superfun yay ride and is also a awesome destraction!
Alsoalso: Good thing Bandit is a GIRL. Re: second panel. Yeesh!
Probably a good thing that her breasts are a bit more tightly bound than that night the castle too.
Na, trolls are only CR5.
Given that he likely has class levels I’d put his CR at 10-13. And that’s honestly probably a bit high.
That puts him at an HD between 15-18. If we’re going by D&D. :P
and a cooperative party can take out single bosses fairly easy. simply due to the amount of actions per turn they can take, against 1-2 actions for the troll. It’ll be tough, I wager Byron gets injured, but not too horrid Unlike say…fighting against a cooperative party.
Actually…. I’ve been in games where a too-high boss is still wiping the floor with 5+ people. Partly because the dice gods frowned on the paladin(s)… but also because if the guy can knock out your Tanks in a single blow… it doesn’t matter what the rogue and ranger are doing behind him at the same time.
Hang in there Bandit!
Combined with your avatar, this really made me laugh, for some reason. I’m envisioning one of those work posters…
he doesn’t that tough; I don’t even think he has claw attacks. Once frigg wades in he’s toast.
Actually, I’ve never fought a troll. And don’t call me Shirley.
Harki, do you like gladiator movies?
Harki, have you ever been to a Turkish prison?
Harki, have you ever seen a grown man naked?
“This dwarf has to be gotten to a hospital.”
“A hospital? What’s that?”
“It’s a big building with patients, but that’s not important now.”
I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing mana potions!
The line is:
“A hospital? What is it?”
Real troll revealed.
(I am joking of course. We all are. :3)
Come on guys, you should have seen this coming. Fighting a troll is useless, the only way to beat him is to ignore him so he’ll take his army and go harrass another kingdom.
Lessons in Diplomacy: Chapter 1
Before bridging the gap between communities, you must first slay the troll.
Trolls…I remember those guys delivering some serious asskickings. Especially solo bosses…
And I think the best part was, “I killed it! I killed it! Oh…he’s back up again.”
Then you kill it with fire!
I’ve actually found the new artist’s work really impressive, particularly the last couple of pages, but Bandit’s expression in the last panel there is just hilarious – especially when contrasted with those of Byron and Harki.
Thank you, Zizek.
Mr. Slavoj Zizek, do you know that people are twisting your words to win rounds in debate? I did not think so. :D
i played a druid in a D&D 3.5 campaign that went to master of many forms, and my preferred wild shape was a troll, unfortunately, i got smooshed by a golem before i was high enough to take advantage of the regeneration
Bandit should now say “merp” at every occasion.
Also, I fucking called it. I. Fucking. Called. It.
The whole “trolls have regeneration” thing, that is.
he’d hardly have been much of a boss if he didn’t.
“Byron here, advertising a new product, the Hack-Chop! Gonna be Hacking your troubles away with the Hack-Chop!”
Seriously, he better go berserk here. Harki’s going to be able to take a lot of hits.
You know, I think he’s more a berserker by tradition than by temperament.
KILL IT WITH FIRE.
no seriously. trolls dont regenerate fire damage.
read that in a book somewhere.
sorry for the double post, but in that last panel, did bandits pigtails fall out?
its a good look for her… aside the shrieking and fear for her life.
nope, there’s still in.
What does “merp” mean, please ?
MERP means “Middle Earth Roleplay” system, obviously.
Bandit is subtley giving us clues as to the game system their world runs on…
“Merp” means the same thing as “Yieks”. Or its a gnomish word for “Im so fucked!”
I love this page, so much awesomness my head is about to burst… cause i cant stop laughing.^^
This entire page is just a gigantic “JUST IN CASE YOU WERE STUPID, TROLLS REGENERATE!” billboard sign. I can’t really imagine this guy taking the time to stop attacking to tell Bandit that he’s not crippled. He’s talking to the audience, so much so that it’s kinda painful. Luckily, this is guilded age so I can ignore that and focus on the hilarious dialogue and wonderful art.
Monologues take up no time and no actions.
Phil, WHY AREN’T YOU GOLD-STARING THIS PERSON?
I see it as he’s taking the time out of the fight to make it quite clear that he doesn’t really consider them a threat. He’s dashing their hopes of crippling him and gaining any kind of advantage over him.
Or, you know, it could just be a horribly written page, I can’t say, I guess it depends on how you want to look at it.
To be fair, my Stepmother reads this also. Troll Regeneration isn’t 100% common knowledge.
Stepmother, eh? Please tell me about your childhood Herr Phil. Do you recall any leathery surfaces coming in contact with your exposed skin? Did the sensation make you shiver even though you didn’t feel cold?
I saw it more as him showing them how outclassed they are, so he can savor their fear.
… Man, what?
Are you saying that divorced marriages don’t automatically drive a person crazy and lead him or her to a life of mental (and probably physical) depravity? Or that not all stepmothers are evil and sadistic by nature?
Only in fairytales, sir… Only in fairytales. Still, stepfathers are a nuisance. And a cause for much depression, a source of many a depressed man and women walking around that thin line that separates normal from the mad. Women tend to get used to children. Maybe even get to love them. Man tend to see the brood of others as enemies.
I would say he is playing to the crowd, they are in an arena after all.
she forgot to say Boing.
Called it! Let’s hope axes do a better job.
Note Phil’s response.
Now, I realize Erica’s leaving must have set the story behind a bit, so I’m not going to have a bitch fit if Byron doesn’t ‘zerk out on the very next page (the last of 2010,) but after they beat Harki and all his friends start pouring into the pit to avenge him seems like a good time for some unstoppable rage.
Fantastic Artwork all the way through this chapter.
Love the new characters, and the tension. Writing and artwork awesomeness Combo! Definately the most anticpated comic update on my webcomic favourates list currently, and there’s 33 on there. I’m sure it must be the same for some of your other fans here.
OH GOD KILL IT WITH FIRE!
They need a druid. And a mage.
..or really, they need to fill up the raid before pulling the boss.
I’m pretty sure bandit isn’t quite raid ready. she looks like she’s wearing greens. i mean the daggers don’t even have some kind of ornate decoration, curvature or serrated feature.
P.S. missed you guys. Visiting relatives in kansas with no internet is torture, especially with no iPhone
Byron’s gonna get bonked in the face again me thinks. He seems to be aiming straight for the end of that pole. Going at it with eyes closed as usual.
Time for the science of: ACID FLASKS! Splash damage templates at the ready!
So it is confirmed yet that Byron is an ancient ancestor of Brock? He seems to have contracted the dreaded slant-eye disease, and I’ve heard that it’s hereditary. Lets hope he doesn’t start bringing donuts everywhere he goes.
Bandit’s face in the last panel reminds me vaguely of Scary-Go-Round…
Uhhh, the spear from this comic: http://guildedage.net/webcomic/chapter-7/chapter-7-page-13/
looks rather like Harki’s…I don’t like the ominous-ness of the blood dripping off the spear though
I knew it was too good to be true.
I was disappointed to see Bandit didn’t take advantage of the proximity to the troll to steal his ugly freakin’ navel jewel. Pssh, death threats. There’s shiney to be had!
Skewer… I hardly knew her
