looking at the vial in the past pages maybe Syr’nj did slip him a berserk potion or something (to save his life maybe?)
also im pretty sure there is a roofie joke around here somewhere
It should be noted that I am the only one in my group of friends who has NOT ever been diagnosed with anger management issues in my group of friends. Buddy of mine – real nice guy, you’d never think differently of him – once had it so bad he sent a kid to the hospital for laughing the wrong way. (They’ve since become friends.)
Rage isn’t something you can just “will away”, folks.
That would happen if he was just angry.
This is a mouth-foaming, pupil-disappearing, berserker-rage.
Logical Byron doesn’t live there at the moment. Rage-Byron isn’t stopping until he runs out of prey, is killed, or his rage effect wears off.
It’s actually the opposite; as the body’s reflexive response to threats and unwanted situations, anger IS willpower. Pure willpower. The only problem is that it takes a lot of practise to actually direct it at something productive, rather than the default “destroy the problem, or in lieu of that, destroy something” thing. It took me a lot of property damage before I learned to use it for useful things instead.. And my life is much better for it.
That also sort of means that the people who lack anger are weak-willed.
The perspective-trickery going on here makes me think our Bandit is escaping unharmed.
Purely from a story-telling perspective… we are no where near far enough along in our storyline for a main character’s death to pop up. This is the first time we’ve been shown or told WHY Byron prefers to fight tactically and not while berserk, and Bandit’s “death” came completely out of the blue with absolutely zero foreshadowing. If she bought it here, it would be a meaningless death. You don’t do that to main characters, especially fan favorites. In a couple hours the next page will be up, and Bandit will be fine. Scared half to death, but (mostly) fine.
Meaningless death? It could be used a hundred ways. It would establish how dangerous he is. It would give a whole new aspect to his character. It would do a lot of things, none of them meaningless.
I have to say, I hope Bandit isn’t dead.
Unfortunately, it looks that way.
HOWEVER! I have a bit of insight.
Yes, the scene with the girls in the floating fortress took place at the same time Dusty and Byron were discovering the trees. That was the first time they heard the name Harki, and this was the first time they had a face to the name.
On the other hand. The situation here: http://guildedage.net/webcomic/chapter-3/chapter-3-page-1/
This hasn’t appeared yet that I can see. Which means Bandit maybe down and out,, but she should be getting better. Unless there’s another wiseass gnome rogue running about going by the last name Keynes.

All I can do is quote from the Cast page:
“Indeed, most days, it’s hard to see [why] he’s called a berserker at all. And then there are the bad days.”
Today…
Is a bad day.

I’ve had anger issues too, but will CAN conquer anger. It’s just really, really, really hard sometimes.
Besides, I’m not blaming Byron. I bet he snaps out of it next page, just in time to realize what he’s done.
That would happen if he was just angry.
This is a mouth-foaming, pupil-disappearing, berserker-rage.
Logical Byron doesn’t live there at the moment. Rage-Byron isn’t stopping until he runs out of prey, is killed, or his rage effect wears off.
Rage most assuredly is something you can just “will away”.
It isn’t even that difficult. Those who can’t manage it are just weak-willed…
On the other hand, pulling it off without initialising brain-crash might be a tad tougher.
It’s actually the opposite; as the body’s reflexive response to threats and unwanted situations, anger IS willpower. Pure willpower. Annd I fucked up an italics tag. Yay.
You’ve got a very different definition of “willpower” to the one I’ve always used… clearly.
That is just a more diplomatic way of saying “I disagree entirely”… but diplomatic is good, right?
Oh my… that’s going to be tough to recover from… Goodbye Bandit. (sniff (T.T) )
res plz

Not to imply that this is representative of a gaming campaign or anything… but I’ve had several D&D characters die a lot sooner than this.
Holy crap.
Come on bandit! Uncanny dodge!!! o_o
Tifa, use Phoenix Down on Yuffie, now! …wait
What do you mean it’s too early for a character to die? What about Gravedust? You know, just a few pages ago?
I have to say, I hope Bandit isn’t dead.

And I posted that on this on the wrong day.
As it has been told by the twenty other people that have thought the same thing, that has already occurred. They mention it to Colonel Pornstache.
Anyone remembers that Frigg is actually a pally?(well, if Gravedust’s notes were right) You know, rezz and layon hands and stuff.
Frigg is a Crusader, not a paladin. Says so in the cast list.
Oh SNAP
berserker indeed.
Probably been said a few times, but it seems that Bandit has been disarmed.
People were always concerned about Byron’s abilities, but they’ve all now found that they’re cutting edge…
Sorry, couldn’t help it.
WOOT! Awesome! Now we´re talking abour RAGE! 8D
Bandit! NOO! D:
