Annotated 12-20
Byron has two concepts of himself. The negative one is “like classic Bruce Banner but worse,” the positive one is “professional asskicker.” That positive concept of himself has already taken quite a beating from his berserker episodes, but not like this. Now he is surrounded by people doing the thing he did best, the thing he can’t do any more.
And to put the cherry on top of it, Gravedust is doing combo moves with E-Merl instead of Frigg and they’re better than what Byron had in mind.
ICYMI, the alt text is a reference to a much older webcomic with arguably similar subject matter, from a time before just everyone had done the “RPGs but real but also not” kind of comic.
What’s Frigg so pissed about? GD and Emerl working well together? She doesn’t seem to be looking at Scipio which would make sense. Is she trying to ignore Rachel?
I was looking at that, too. I think she’s maybe trying to one-up Scipio? He’s casually not-looking at what he’s doing, so she’s “look at me, I’m TOTALLY WAY MORE NOT LOOKING”. And Rachel is, of course, gazing admirably at her which she might also be trying to make a point to ignore.
I love that the Chopping Machine that’s chasing Bandit in panel 2 is sweating!
Ah, RPGWorld, whose creator went on to be part of a cartoon which just received a Peabody award :D
Ian Jones-Quartey also went on to make his own cartoon, OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes, which has an episode that serves as a crossover with and an epilogue to RPGWorld.
I always wondered just how expensive the automatons were that they could just hack an army’s worth to bits for a little light training…
For those not aware, there exists a Fan Revival of RPGWorld which picks up where the original ended. One can find it under http://rpgworld.the-comic.org
