Annotated 22-18
In addition to soothsaying, Brother Tom has the power of PowerPoint.
I was glad we were able to work in a lot of fairly sensible philosophy in support of the reprehensible. I mean, even the generally cheery philosophy of The Good Place ended up agreeing that existence would (sooner or much, much, much later) come to have no meaning if it didn’t have an end. Plato said, “The one aim of those who practice philosophy in the proper manner is to practice for dying and death.”
But honestly, if it looks like evil nihilism and quacks like evil nihilism, it probably doesn’t matter if it sheds a few non-nihilistic feathers on its way to Nihilism Pond.
I like that he’s saying ‘Death eats all the things’ at Gizzard Wizard. That’s definitely the way to get Land Sharks into your Death cult.
I believe that’s the Landshark saying it instead, in their infinite wisdom yet very finite vocabulary.
Yeah, it’s definitely the shark. They have their own font. Plus, Tom is way too eloquent
So the significance here is that the shark gets it.
Smart, for a shark.
From this angle the center of the stage just looks like one Chad-ass totem flexing at all of us.
Nihilism aside, Tom’s claim, that “loud and demanding” deserves respect, by itself negates any philosophical credibility he had. (The stupid, it burns.)
Always felt like commenting at some point. May as well start by pointing out what I have to imagine is a typo in “signing Death’s praises”
So if death is so great Brother Tom why haven’t you offed yourself yet?
“To everything there is a season,” I’m sure would be the refrain.
Which is, you know, why certain would-be dictators and holier-than-thou mouthpieces of “human sacrifice-appropriate grandparent age” aren’t taking their own advice – they don’t feel it’s appropriate yet.
These people aren’t exactly hard to read if you can make sensible, sarcastic observations about their motives on your own :P
Well, Tom’s not gonna go out like some chump.
That is, he’ll die like the rest, but he wants to make sure he’s doing the most damage possible on the way out.
I read that as “desperate to rub another one out” and… yeah, I guess that would at least be a good reason to sing the little death’s praises.
Niiiiiiiice
I like the idea that there’s enough of a deaf community that they’d be /signing/ death’s praises. But it’s probably a spelling error?
