“Aw, shit. Well, we’d better address that in dialogue, see if we can get some laughs out of it.”
Gotta love Frigg in panel 3. Funny that she and not Bandit is more eager to take Byron to task for “fucking up everything AGAIN,” considering Chapter 8 and its fallout. Guess Bandit is still pretty warm to Byron after her election.
A little defensive pessimism can be important when you’re facing an uncertain outcome. But you’ve got to balance that with motivational optimism. And if that sounds a little contradictory, well, that’s life for you.
Naa, naa, naa.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. A pessimist is never disappointed as a saying goes. But when things go your way, you need to know how say: “Not that I thought I’d be right anyway.” and take what you get.
You never go full pessimist and lose all the joy, just because you don’t want to see it.
And most all great speeches have begun with some iteration of: “Folks, we are truly f*cked… BUT!” XD
I consider myself a pessimistic optimist. Not exactly pragmatic, but to say a defeatist thought never crossed my mind would be a lie.
I punch those thoughts for a warm-up.
