Annotated 43-18
“How dare” as shorthand for “Oh, how dare you” became part of Flo’s lexicon around this time, usually delivered sarcastically. But I don’t know whether she came up with it first while dialoguing this harpy and just kept it afterward, or just put one of her new favorite phrases into the harpy’s mouth. That’s a real chicken or egg question, there.
Yeah, Frigg, probably about time you started using your incredible super-powers in this fight! In retrospect, I’m not entirely sure what you were waiting for. Maybe the cold put a cap on your willpower and you had to build up some steam by grappling and punching wolves first? Sounds good, let’s go with that.
FB: “Oh, like YOU people can talk about memorable names, Brian, Frik, Graypuss, and Syzygy.”
I’ve always assumed she needs to get proper angry or otherwise “into the mood” to use her power. So being in a desparate situation is not enough. I suppose if she got caught in a very introverted mood, doubting herself perhaps, she’d have a hard time putting her powers to work.
…and now that she has her glowy hammershit together again, all she does is punch the doggo in the side, which just serves to get it to attack her, faster than she can give it a proper knock on its head.
Still not quite back in form.
Although, one might argue that knocking it over the head as the first attack might have also caused it to bite through Byron’s arm, so maybe that move was not completely wrong. In that light, she the best move would have probably been to punch its behind, buying her enough time to get her hammer ready to knock the doggo’s teeth out with the next swing.
