Annotated 48-43

This is one of those pages to which I struggle to add anything. Frigg, once the least philosophical of all our characters, is speaking pretty well for herself through Flo here.
At times like these, I get a little ambivalent about annotations in general. I do my best to provide you guys something new to chew on with every page, like DVD commentary that keeps up a steady line of patter all the way to the end credits. But the voice of an author can sometimes get in the way of the experience that the original text provides. I’ve always been wary of trying to create parasocial relationships instead of just writing the thing, which probably hasn’t helped my career. On the whole, I’ve found it rewarding to re-explore this work with you, but I’m just as glad that I didn’t say much about it (relatively speaking) while the original was running.
Munch munch.
I think this is a great way to handle it – I love hearing your original and current perspectives now, but it would have gotten in the way of the story the first time, even aside from the amount of extra work it must require.
I agree entirely with this. This last hurrah was fantastic idea and I enjoy reading this a lot. Not sure it should’ve been there the first time around, wouldn’t have worked as well either, since a lot of it has some insight from after the page itself.
Exactly. Most people wouldn’t read to the commentary audio track on a DVD, either, before they’re watched the movie normally.
That Ardaic reacts as if he is still in command is a nice touch. Rings true for POW, at least in war movies.
Is the wound in the soldier’s side indeed from a Troll bite? Ouch.
What you should ask is, is that wound… infected?
I find it quite enjoyable to read your insights about the various subjects you address in your comics, bits of trivia about the events behind the scenes, and your reevaluation of past projects. It doesn’t get in the way of my enjoyment of your work, believe me.
Word.
Can I just say again I love Frigg?
She’s not as intellectual as Syr’nj, but just as smart.
She has a very, um… straight forward… approach to problem solving, but she can also reflect back, see where she was wrong, admit mistake and change course. That’s an admirable quality
Looooong time reader — and re-reader, moving through this go’round with you — possibly first time commenting:
I greatly appreciate your commentary, it’s added quite a lot of depth to an already excellent story.
I thought the Landsharks walked away from this… 🤔
