Annotated 49-22
FB: He may be overconfident and that may be a weakness, but it doesn’t pay to underestimate the forceful powers of this supreme leader’s smoke.
That’s the head of the original HR-beast that Gravedust is crushing in the center of the composition, and that’s something, but compared to the others, GD is at risk of becoming the “Aquaman” of the group.
The team could probably fight even better if they ditched the jetpacks at this point, but they can’t be sure they won’t need them again against an enemy who keeps changing his form. At this exact point, I’m not sure we knew whether they’d need them again, either…though Best will need his for sure on the next page.
*checks dates* OK, this did come out after The Force Awakens, so I assume the FB link was the reference it seems like.
“I am all” all what? I am all right? I am all out of love? I am all out of ideas as to why kids live cinnamon toast crunch?
all about the Pentiums, baby!
Also, he might be crazy powerful but if he was *that* powerful, he could have made an avatar that is immune to axes. And to big glowy middle-finger shit. Seems like he still needs to conform to *some* of the laws of this world.
Allfred. Nice to meet you!
I am the Allrus, koo-koo-ka-joo
I wonder how long the jetpacks last. Usually, I’d assume that you can light them up once, and then they burn until out of fuel, but Syr’Nj demonstrates the relight capability here — quite something, given that rockets were only invented some weeks ago in this world. IRL, rocket engines that can be turned on and off multiple times are complicated beasts, and many of those still don’t last for too many cycles.
That third pannel is so beautiful to me, I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because I can “see” the party moving simultaneously to strike in a deffensive manner in order to protect Gravedust as he is “open” to harm. In my mind, a little instant of slow-motion takes place right before the arcs of light sketch over thin air in almost perfectly-symetric swings, cutting the darkness. I dunno guys, it’s just got me. Real cool art, all I’m saying.
