The problem with that is he’d need someone to kill him. Of course, Ulak would probably help with that.

Yup, dude’s still not all there. And if Brother Tom’s ritual works, HR is about to be even less “there.” What that will do to his mind, we can only guess.

It may, but if you give a mad person godly powers, they’re not likely to get any less mad. Quite the opposite, I’d think.

Or why not both? Maybe H.R. is worried now about his sanity, but I’m sure he’s going to jump at the chance at godhood even if it costs him what few marbles he has left. I’m sure that a mad god is still a GOD in his mind. (Scared face emote here.)

Okay, decided to comment for the first time because I think the plot just became even more awesome. See, HR has for a long time claimed that he tapped into an existing world, that he then tried to control, but this finally shows that those attempts don’t need to flow in just one direction. HR may have better terminology for what is happening but as he reached towards Arkerra it may just be that the Many Limbs reached back, and seeing how madness is kinda central to that group it may be that HR’s sanity may be eroding due to more than just stress… I wonder, when he crosses over, will the cult get a crazy mortal, someone with knowledge to compliment their own or an actual (demi)god, though something tells me in this last case it may not be the kind of godhood that HR would wish for…

Actually it is a different door, if you look at the wall around it. Appears that there are two doors on that wall behind him. It’s the one on the other side that is opening instead of the one directly behind him.

I wonder i H.R. would have a “Galactus Effect” over arkerrans, so while for us he’s just William H. Macy, for them he’d look slightly… almightier.

(for those who don’t know, Galactus is a “you cannot grasp the true form” being, and as such each sentient being sees him in a different way, check http://marswillsendnomore.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/fantastic-four-262-009.jpg )

Since I’ve decided to comment today for the first time I’ll take the chance to say that the comic is excellent overall and this story is a great example of it. I love how it can shift the pacing at the drop of a hat: cover some politics, then shift to the actual battle to show us that while some debate others are dying in the field, to switch into a seemingly lighthearted “convention” thing, to have the politics rear its ugly head (and some bloody murder), to then do some humour and again twist it into this scene of a man loosing his sanity and possibly turning into a monster… and it would be so easy to make all this into a bunch of jumbled, disconnected scenes but the writing and artwork make it flow so seamlessly.
