I was thinking more of how some groups had diplomacy carefully integrated with roleplaying and the backstory of the setting, would publish official statements and whatnot, and had to negotiate with other groups whose policies were based on “Woohoo! We r the awesomest!”
Yeah, ‘render’ has quite a few meanings. I like that idea of him originally having been the guy who rendered fat, but through circumstance and RNG ended up becoming this legendary engineer. Y’know? Like one of those useless soapmaker dwarves that immigrated to your fortress, who you just stuck into mechanics because you needed a dwarf there, and after a few years he ended up being the awesomest of your engineers.

You know who this guy sounds like? Byron’s friend in adventuring we heard of a couple of chapters back, who built mechanical fighters to support the Gastonian army.
I BELIEVE Rendar was mentioned in one of the very first chapters by his brother Sundar, while he and Byron were drinking. And yes, later his machines are the ones that the new guildies spar against in training.
Rendar, Sundar, are both brothers, Byron beat the hell outta Sundar, Rendar is, in deed, the brother that built autofighters. If you look at the Dossiers, you’ll also see byron’s morbidly obese friend.
Look again, he is pointing to someone besides Sundar. In fact, Sundar and another character we’ve seen before are featured in those write-ups. Located in panel 3.
As you can see in Panel 3, Sundar is the guy on the page on the far right. They’re talking about Rendar, the guy in the middle (Braggadocio’s page is under his).
Hey, it’s that big dude! Braggadocio or something…
I know! I was all like… I know that guy!
Oh, and it looks like we have some Folios Indicating Research Surrounding Traitors here.
Ok, that was clever.
Actually, I was looking at them like PC sheets…YOu know, like, for an RPG.
This reminds me of diplomacy in EVE Online.
Ah, diplomacy…. of the gunboat variety.
I was thinking more of how some groups had diplomacy carefully integrated with roleplaying and the backstory of the setting, would publish official statements and whatnot, and had to negotiate with other groups whose policies were based on “Woohoo! We r the awesomest!”
Oh, and guess who had more gunboats?
Anakin Skywalker referred to it as “aggressive negotiations.” Which involves lightsabers…
No matter the setting.
Engineer is credit to team.
Always.
Entire Gastonia is babies!
Entire Savage Races has rabies!
MEDIC!
What sick man sends RABIES to fight me?
I mean, seriously. Dude.
Meet the Berserker.
“Grass grows, birds fly, sun shines, and brother… WAAGHAAARGARBL”
Is there any way we can see the pages from the dossier full-sized? That would be pretty awesome :)
All you’d see are larger squiggly lines.
I wouldn’t be surprised for Gastonia to keep tabs on its adventurers, former or otherwise, after the Peacemakers proved their capabilities.
“Rendar the Renderer” sounds like such a Savage Race name.
Although, “render”, besides speaking of dismemberment, is also a computer graphics term.
He could also just be the guy who processes fat for soap.

Sundar the Sunderer, Rendar the Renderer. Who’s next? Blendar the Blenderer?
This just in: the newly appointed finance minister of Fightopia is Squandar the Squanderer.

Where does Votar the Voter fit in all this?
Hmmm…I would’ve thought Delivar the Deliverer would have been in charge of the Post Office.

You know who this guy sounds like? Byron’s friend in adventuring we heard of a couple of chapters back, who built mechanical fighters to support the Gastonian army.
Oh, good catch!
I BELIEVE Rendar was mentioned in one of the very first chapters by his brother Sundar, while he and Byron were drinking. And yes, later his machines are the ones that the new guildies spar against in training.

Ironically, the fat friend of Byron is my avatar. Also, he ate the legs of his friend that fell off a cliff.
No one else smells a setup? Or is that just ‘au de Miyamoto’?
oh sure, just list gastonia’s experimental weapons program in front of a foreign dignitary, that’s always a good idea
based on your avatar… I picture you as the guy just outside the window… that cynical comic relief dude.
He also cut him off after he listed only a couple inventions. Seems like there are more war machines than we know about.
He just didn’t want to mention the mechanical whores. That’s how they convinced anyone to join the Fightopia.
Hey, this mistakenly is labeled as Chapter 26 Page 6 when the previous page was Chapter 23 Page 5.
The URL is wrong too.
Fixed, thanks.
Wait, page 3 said he was Sundar the Sunderer. What gives?
different person? <..>
That’s my assumption. Maybe Fightopians all name themselves after something stupid like that?
I’d like to think that, but also that Rendar is actually named after Hurricane’s custom built rendering engine, with Sundar being the audio system.
Look again, he is pointing to someone besides Sundar. In fact, Sundar and another character we’ve seen before are featured in those write-ups. Located in panel 3.
I didn’t say otherwise?
As you can see in Panel 3, Sundar is the guy on the page on the far right. They’re talking about Rendar, the guy in the middle (Braggadocio’s page is under his).
