P.S.: I have no idea if I did the italics right. I really wish the HTML note at the bottom explained how to use them better or we had a way to preview comments.
Ineresting, yes. Although I don’t think it works out. HR specifically talks to the guy in the red tube as “Byron” and while he may be erroneously doing so it would rise the question where this error comes from. I still think that the original five players are Byron, Gravedust, Syr’Nj and Frigg. Whether the fifth switched from Best to Bandit… no idea. The player talks about having many different projects so it could be.
I thought the fifth switched to Auragu, or maybe Penk. But that conflicts with my other hypothesis: that the nonhumanoid champions are the “tube people” from a different universe that HR accidentally contacted.
(Not a direct answer:)
I wonder on which grounds we speculate about these matters (PCs, NPCs…). I think we assume that the really elaborate characters are somehow influenced by other entities. But perhaps this hypothesis leads to the wrong conclusions. Perhaps Arkerra has a life on its own, an existence that makes it possible for any character to be as complex as in our world. Which would mean that a) we could only use sepia-world-evidence for our speculations and b) there are terrible difficult ethical implications for every meddling in Arkerran matters… not that HR would care, I guess.
The more I see Magda fight, the more I think “She’s a freaking powerhouse.” I feel like we need Gravy and his would-be apprentice to arrive ASAP, or we’ll be down 1-2 Peacemakers.
No kidding. She was picked because of a better perspective on joining the champions, but I’ve got to wonder if the other candidates could have done even half of what she can or if they were all one-trick ponies. She seems by far to be the strongest combat caster we’ve seen so far.
shes a cleric, clerics are caster, warrior, healer and diplomat all rolled into 1 character. just saying i’ve seen to many clerics be “heal-sticks” for my tastes, i usually play the clerics like the titanic bad-ass they erally are. dont get me wrong paliden, druids and monks can do some of the same things but the only classes that can really compete with the utility or do something the cleric cant do naturally are.. rogues, any mage template warrior combo and the odd feral urban ranger. :)
Please. Clerics don’t have much in the way of good damage-dealing spells unless they’re facing undead, and they don’t get a pet fighter as a class feature. Plus, no matter how necessary it may be, a cleric can never turn into a polar bear or fire elemental. Clerics are certainly powerful, but there’s only one class that’s a solo adventuring party, and clerics aren’t it.
Penk is likely giving her a buff, being a bard and all, to say nothing of sharing the same power source. I also thought it was odd Rachel could take them 2 to 1, but it occurred to me that she is likely going full defense.
“surrender now, or I will have my legion of rock monsters find and step on every cute little fluffy animal they can find, you can’t stop them ALL! MUAHAHAHAHAHAH!”
(All the while secretly thinking to herself… “noooooooooo, what have I become?”)
Nope, the more see of these so-called ‘Champions’ (each and everyone) the more really really hope they die painfully and permanently (enough so the player breaks a finger, or 11)
It’s different for me. I hope that they escape the vicious cycle of aggression.
And even I they were the worst characters ever I’d still not wish for any harm coming to a player.
I’m finding the Champions less likable at the moment, though I think there are several reasons for this. First, this is their first team moment. For most of these guys we’ve only known them for, what, the last chapter and a half? It’s hard to compare to the Peacekeepers when the latter have so much screentime.
Secondly, they’re attacking the protagonists. I’ve wondered whether who’s on offense and who’s on defense here is skewing people’s perspectives (like mine, perhaps).
I’m hoping we get to see the Champions in action against the cultists, honestly. That way we have a chance to grow to like them as characters without having to deal with them attacking people we already like at the same time.
Erecting rock hard creations is a really dick move.
Those (en)gorgeous creations are totally via(gra)ble.
I can also make subtle innuendo.
…EXPLOSIONS!
On her knees, burning with passion, Magda calls and they come, thrusting upwards through the fertile earth…
Magda is one, hot mama!
Well played, sir. Well played indeed.
*insert slow clap here*
ROCK ELEMENTAAAAAALLLLLSS! *guitar riff*
Thoughts:
1. Nice rock band
2. Penk is, so far, the least effectual champion. And he’s the leader. How inspiring to his troops.
To be fair, he plays an epic drum solo.
His drum is bust though.
He’s the team Bard. Their ridiculous charisma makes up for any incompetence.
Penk is more than a bard he’s a BARDBARIAN
to be honest its his first battle where he is actually in the Fray and despite that he was able to fight frig on equal footing
it wasn’t equal, hes pumped from the juice his god has given him, frigg is 100% her own women who just happens to have ANOTHER form .

Buddy you’re a golem make a big noise
Fightin’ in the courtyard gonna roll a big crit some day
You got magma on your face, a big disgrace
hurling those boulders all over the place.
SHE WILL, SHE WILL ROCK YOU.
SHE WILL, SHE WILL ROCK YOU.
Random thought: I don’t think HR has been able to kill the Peacekeepers because they are NPCs. The players are the Worlds Champions.
There’s an interesting theory.
P.S.: I have no idea if I did the italics right. I really wish the HTML note at the bottom explained how to use them better or we had a way to preview comments.
Yay! I did it right.

Oh shit, she’s raising the roof! I think it may be on fire.
We don’t need no water.
Bloodhound Gang (the “fuzzy peoples?”) will just let the motherf***** burn
Let the motherfuzzer burn!
Is she giving her energy to Goku to form the Spirit Bomb?
Rachel’s true weak spot? …Magda’s going to hit her in the E-Merl?

Clerics of Tectonicus are OP.
Those in the know roll Cleric.
Strictly speaking, they’re Shamans.

I guess by “weak spot” she means “everywhere your fists don’t cover”
She means… there… in that spot… that is weak.
…with rock golem fists?
“surrender now, or I will have my legion of rock monsters find and step on every cute little fluffy animal they can find, you can’t stop them ALL! MUAHAHAHAHAHAH!”

Nobody on the zeppelin prepared Magic Missile this morning?
Magic missile ignores armor, not dodge ac.
Which edition’s Magic Missile are you referring to?
Possibly 4th edition. Does not hit automatically but you can cast endlessly
Damn! Olde Skool Magic Missile never missed, my how the mighty (game) has fallen :(
Yup. I’m old and decrepit, my magic missiles always hit YOU KIDS GET OFF MY TRAPPER, UHM I MEAN MY FRONT LAWN

I’m assuming by weak spot, she means an injured Frigg.
I would say, a dead Frigg, to be precise.
Gnarf, I meant dead, of course.
Makes sense, Moe helps keep her occupied so she can only watch as Larry and Curly curb stomp her hobbled senpai.
Ye hobag! You’re an old white soulja-boy who has no swag! And no gonads, egads it’s so sad…
