The low stakes adventures of an assorted group of 20 somethings trapped in the declining years of American retail. They are naughty and say lots of swears.
Even if he doesn’t remember, that might only add to the horror.
A friend held in your hands, face chewed half off. The slick feel of blood caking your face and the tang of iron on your tongue. Then the horrible realization of what it must mean reducing you to retching as you feel the churning of your stomach from a meal you can not recall eating and the gory gobbets of flesh in your mouth.
And that, my friends, is the very beginning of the nightmare.
Wait.. Aren’t they people in Sepia watching this happen to their avatars as they went berzerk? Rabbit: “AFK, puking because my face was just eaten in first person.. x.x”
Bert? Where?
Is Bert the butt who bit the beautiful babe in her boot?
By the way, Bandit’s bought it. Byron will bite it by and by, because his berzerkin’ balks the benefit of bezerker breaking bloodmeds. (i.e. he’s still zerkin’, and when Syr can’t cure him with the serum, she’ll be forced to destroy him. O tragedy :((()
“Is Bert the butt who bit the beautiful babe in her boot?”
‘fraid so.
Saphora has very good reflexes. Eliminating the immediate threat AND taking care of a future threat, herself. Very commendable both as an adventurer and as a field medic.
If only more medicos were like her, many contagion/horror movies would be a lot shorter.
Guilded Age Saph is pretty good with a crossbow. Makes me wish I’d leveled Ranger a bit more.
Such gruesomeness though. XD; I feel bad for everyone’s characters (good job, creative team!), and who knows who’s actually walking away.
Leaves me to wonder, though, if any survivors who’ve been infected will now have to live with a latent risk for the rest of their lives, as Byron’s been doing. Guess we’ll have to be patient.
I agree with you on their accuracy. A high percentage of the shots are hitting in the neck…That’s a difficult shot even if the target *isn’t* moving around.
Great, no Rabbit’s gonna spend the rest of his days flipping a coin to determine whether he kills someone, who he kills, and how he kills them. Just fan freakin tastic.
This is… a bit like a sudden 28 Days Later Scenario, almost literally. Everybody acts like a rabid psychotic monster, the smallest cut can cause an infection, and the “monsters” are insanely hard to put down (considering some of these guys still fight while on fire, with their guts out, etc.). I imagine that sitting on top of a roof is the only sensible option.
More accurately a humanoid jaw with muscle and teeth but no flesh always looks a bit like a smile from the structure, if you look at what is left of Rabbit’s face (look at panel 5 upside down) you can see the intense pain of his final moments…
Sooo…anyone else hungry? I have the weirdest craving to eat Justin Bieber’s face.
No. Things are getting more serious, but they’re also still in the process of getting more serious. None of the plot threads have yet begun to be resolved.
When we’re nearing the end, you won’t have villains working from the shadows, or subtle political maneuvering, or visitors from new worlds bringing unheard of powers. You’ll have the payoff for those things. Everything will either be finally coming together or completely falling apart.
Excessive overuse of white lines much? :D
I mean I get that everything’s happening fast but come on…
On a side note I do love the M.J. move Saphora does in panel 4. I understand why she doesn’t go all “heee -hee” but even an “OW” could have made it sooo much better. xD
I originally looked at this on my phone early in the morning. OK, fighting, chaos, etc. Looked at it again on my monitor and realized exactly what Braggadocio was up to. Yeeeeeesh…dang.
Well, maybe the other characters will understand Byron a little bit better now…
Something’s kinda bugging me though: How exactly did Bitty Byron survive Battleshire? He did not appear to be physically injured in the flashbacks, yet he is infected. The art style suggests that Brother Tom did something like was done here without knowing exactly what he’d summoned (that is, the empty white eyes, etc.). It seems pretty clear that you need to start with a sacrifice to create the carrier, and some kind of injury on further victims to use as entry points. With the exception of stopping himself in Brother Tom’s tent way back, Byron has only berserked after being injured (Harky’s spear, a slashed cheek). What exactly was left behind in Byron all of these years? A link? A dormant one of these demon things?
To clarify–I think Byron has only fully berserked after receiving a bleeding wound (getting clocked doesn’t seem to count). This also includes being shot with Gravedust’s arrow–I guess Frigg got him close but not quite there while beating him up, because she felt he was fighting it off after she bloodied him a bit?
Rabbit is losing face, due to the reduced face time. But, if Braggadocio gets nauseous and loses face, then Syr’Nj might be able to help Rabbit save face. (If Rabbit hasn’t already moved on to a hoppier place)
oh geeze… Rabbit…
Sorry, I forgot the first post needs a pun. That really bites.
Rabbit lost this face – off.
I hope he has the stomach to face a future like this one.
https://youtu.be/Yfo2rQZrtb0?t=111
Well that went horribly wrong. Perhaps this will work better?
youtu.be/Yfo2rQZrtb0?t=111
Eh, I give up. Watch the video its in there. You’ll know it when you see it.
Anymore fails and I won’t be able to face you folks anymore….
Rarely bitter Rabbit was rawly bitten like rarebit.
Shame on Bragg. It was clearly Duck season.
I really hope Bragg doesn’t remember this… He’s too nice of a guy to be stuck with the memory of eating his friend’s face
If the serum works he will remember everything, as Byron remembers everything.
Perchance Rabbit may just be resurrected at the local graveyard.
And the slow realization… Mmm Yummy
Wait.. Aren’t they people in Sepia watching this happen to their avatars as they went berzerk? Rabbit: “AFK, puking because my face was just eaten in first person.. x.x”
Possibly, but as in Rachel’s case it is pretty much shown that the characters in Arkerra are up to things their players seem to have no idea about.
Bandit the Berserker!
Braggadoccio, Eater of Beasts and NOW Men!
Braggadoccio, Eater of Beasts and NOW Rabbits!*
Once you go Rabbit, you stay there, dagnabbit.
Tastes like chicken.
Bert? Where?
Is Bert the butt who bit the beautiful babe in her boot?

Reminds me of http://xkcd.com/734/
Braggo [dezerks]: “What th’?” [looks around stupidly for a second . . . resumes eating]
Guilded Age Saph is pretty good with a crossbow. Makes me wish I’d leveled Ranger a bit more.

When you’ve got a potion of swiftness, no target is moving.
Sy’rnj: “Byron? Bandit? Oh, hell – not again!”
Great, no Rabbit’s gonna spend the rest of his days flipping a coin to determine whether he kills someone, who he kills, and how he kills them. Just fan freakin tastic.
And Bragaddocio will have to put up with Fat Bastard imitations the rest of his life.
“What can I say? I expected them to be cooked more. Raw face is just gross.”
No itssnot.
Yeah, that´s pretty disgusting. No offence meant.
Hehehe, nice.
Well, I’m assuming that’s Isidro and mask dude on the roof with Scipio. Hopefully they make it out of this alive.
Shame about Rabbit.
Rabbits don’t have any nutrients to them anyway.
This is… a bit like a sudden 28 Days Later Scenario, almost literally. I’ve a feeling Bragg will be going on a ptsd diet.
Rabbit is a little gamey, but once you acquire a taste for it, sometimes you just get a hankering.
You have a lot of explaining to do, young man.
Wow. That 5th panel. Maybe we really are about to lose a bunch of characters. I notice nobody bothered to stick the half-eaten rabbit with a syringe.
What makes it even creepier is it looks like Rabbit is smiling.
Take a second for the shooter to get far enough around Bragg to fire at the smaller eclipsed target?
Jesus…Rabbit…
The chapter after this is going to be really, really depressing. What is this going to do to Byron, and Bragg, and everyone else who zerked…
lol…the irony of your avatar
Kind of appropriate really??
sort of the opposite of irony.
wow.
Yeah, there’s just no escaping how broken everyone’s gonna be after this.
I’m betting that we are nearing the end of Guilded Age…don’t you think?
24 chapters left.
24 chapters, for reals?
Scipio survived all this. Why am I not surprised?
Well, I am – he not only survived it, he somehow survived sans cigar :O
Scipio “sans cigar” just means that when this is finished he is gonna’ be EXTRA angry. He might not speak for weeks.
Metal Armor is really rather effective at managing this sort of thing.
Uh oh. Syr’Nj saw Byron. It’s about to get real up in here.
Excessive overuse of white lines much? :D
I mean I get that everything’s happening fast but come on…

Braggadocio: *looks down with sanity taking hold*
RABBIT?!!?
…tastes like Chicken….
/Tim
Oh, sure, gore it up, why don’tcha! >:(
Rabbit… :(
Astoria double hit? (cfr. p35 last panel) Faulty quarrels??
I can understand that it was hard keeping track of so many characters but did Rabbit really have to be the one to get his face time halved?
Rabbit is losing face, due to the reduced face time. But, if Braggadocio gets nauseous and loses face, then Syr’Nj might be able to help Rabbit save face. (If Rabbit hasn’t already moved on to a hoppier place)
New premium class unlocked: Badass Crossbow Healer
I’M IN A GLASSCASE OF EMOTION RIGHT NOW!
DAMN IT RABBIT! THIS IS MEDAL OF HONOR ALL OVER AGAIN
So, I guess there will be a bit of drama about how to put the skin back on Rabbit?
At least he still has his lucky Rabbit’s foot!
Bandit and Byron have become one! They are now the conglomerated berserker they were always meant to be!
Byrandit!
So… berserker formula is Bath Salts?
