Chapter 39 – Page 14
Hey, Guildies! A couple of wonderful goofballs I know are doing their first card game Kickstarter that I think a lot of you guys would be into! You may know one of the creators as frequent contributor Greg Benge!
AND DON’T FORGET THIS AWESOME THING!
So click the video above, check out this Hella-addictive-looking abomination assembly game and get in on the exclusive chance to be made into a severed head! It’s gonna be a dope-ass game, and seriously: Please pledge. I want my copy, too!
I’m suddenly overwhelmed with the feeling that it was grossly irresponsible of Shanna and Xan to visit the homes of innocent people when they knew damn well a killer was hunting them.
It wasn’t the visiting that did it, it was the ‘planning to visit’ part. Would Shanna/Xan not going have helped the innocent people, or would it just have left them without any warning?
I believe she went to Crissie (bandit) first because they thought her most at risk? So that means he appeared here at Scipio’s completely of his own violition.
At least now her violent death will help them realize this is serious
Welp. There goes another member of Sepia world. Guess my “Murder Chart” is getting another tally mark.
So far we have no body and there’s no blood on him. It’s possible she’s a hostage instead of a corpse. I suspect we’ll know very soon, but JJ has avoided killing thusfar and unlike Shanna, has no reason to be pissed off at this lady he’s never met before so she’s got a shot.
Leaving a awful lot of witnesses at this point
that’s why he would get an hostage, get the other ones out of hidding and in a convenient location to clean the mess in one go.
Witnesses aren’t really a concern with what he’s trying to do. It’s mostly a case of, “Yeah, you might be able to put me in jail, but then my bosses will send somebody who *will* have you killed. So just do as you’re told and nobody gets hurt.”
Don’t need blood to get a murder. Kay could be… looking at things from a different point of view by now.
True, and if this all looks silly to somebody reading tommorow, just remember what we got to go on right now: This guy prefers to avoid bloodshed, and is certainly intelligent. What’s worth more to him right now: Potential leverage, or removing a piece from the board? I’d theorize that if he did the latter, it’d make sense NOT to show himself to all these people. He wants to talk. And while a body is a good way to give a warning, he’s probably genre savy enough to know that one should A. be careful because that can also put people in “this monster must be stoppped” mode, and B. Showing evidence of murder on a camera to a bunch of tech savy kids is a bad idea.
Freaking PK-ers.
For’s comment, will you marry me? <3
Now, Rex! Attack his groin now!
Aw, crap. You’re a still a cat.
Meow it’s the time to act! Don’t retract, don’t surrender! Don’t paws, our you’ll be too late!
Scapegoat is right – cats can fight. Go get that mustachioed man!
In fairness, I’ve seen my cats go nuts towards things they perceive as threats to me. Not every cat will protect their owner like that, but if they do it’ll be unpleasant for whoever’s on the receiving end.
Yeah, my cat went after my sister one time for yelling at me. Kitty’s um… not used to a life of fighting. This was not expected by either of us.
My sister was fine, but the intentions were there.
Ah…Damn! Not real-world Scipio! Now he’s going to go all NPC on us…though, in a way I guess he already did when he left before…should have seen it coming.
JJ isn’t much for plausible deniability is he?
I guess with a mustache like that, you’ve got to twirl it once in awhile.
I’m still hoping he’s just holding her hostage.
Brutally murdering everybody connected to this seems a little extreme.
Even if Kaye already ran away, he’s just shown everyone his face on a digital device.
Not exactly an anonymous note on the doorstep.
“…an you hear me now? Ah, there we go. Just wanted to say I’ll be right over, don’t go anywhere.”
Oh no, it’s evil mario!
This was bound to happen…after the tenth “the princess is in another castle” he finally turned into the Incredible Mario Hulk (iMulk). Guess what will happen to the next empty castle…
I thought Super Mario World taught us what happens to castles that don’t have the princess.
She ded. Like, so ded. Like, OMG ded!
F
It would make more sense at this point for him to kidnap her rather than kill her. Otherwise he’ll have extreme difficulty tracking down the rest of them.
I’m more than a little disappointed by the lack of subversion here. Does everything have to be plot-related? Couldn’t that have been an actual pizza guy, evidence that SOMEONE other than the protagonists and background props actually live in this world?
I mean, yeah. It guarantees the rest will believe Shanna.. But they weren’t the ones in question, were they? Seems clumsily convenient.
Hey man, there was the cat.
This story moves slow enough as it is. I’m too impatient for pointless fakeouts.
Of course, he’s not a villain. He’s just an employee in charge of deep imersion (EDI).
In other words, he will drug you, then stuff you into a glass tube.
… That was a joke.
I still freaking love his moustache.
And, why is she screaming? She can’t see him yet.
Shanna and Xan were both suspecting this on the last page. She’s probably not screaming so much as trying to call Kaye, hoping that her suspicions are wrong.
That, or she was trying to get Moustache to come over and talk. To negotiate for Kaye’s life, and also show everyone Moustache.
Is Wario not afraid of leaving a dangerous trail ?
It is awfully easy to record whatever is happening here.
Or maybe it is the reason he wants to speak. He needs to make the correctly adjusted threats.
Apparently most hitmen in real life aren’t all that clever and end up getting themselves caught pretty easily. Granted, the story would be over a lot quicker if the police got involved so he’s probably not going to get himself caught.
The most common way, or so I’m given to understand, to employ a hitman in the United States is to hire a teenage gang member who won’t be tried as an adult and doesn’t care about a little more time in juvenile detention so long as he and his buddies get a pile of cash afterward.
JJ is not a common hitman. He’s what you look for when you need something handled with a bit of delicacy and as little public attention as possible. Wouldn’t surprise me if he already has alibis and alternative identities in place for when the job is over.
Alibis and alternative identities may not help so much when the other party has photographic or possibly video proof of you making threats while in someone else’s home. Whether the gang actually has any of that or not doesn’t change the fact that they could be capturing that information right now and he’d have no way of knowing.
Maybe he’s just really bad with computers?
My bet is on what some other people have said. I have a feeling he’s about to explain to them that their friend will be perfectly fine– so long as they drop the investigation once and for all.
“Now, I want you to listen very carefully. You will tell me…where is my car? Seriously, I had one payment left, I put in alot of custom detail and I’d really like to get her back safe and sound.”
Oh hey! It’s Gordito from Dr. McNinja all grown up! I can’t help but be happy whenever I see him.
You know what, Gordito, you can have her, she’s a bit of a dick anyway.
But he doesn’t have his guns! Or his velociraptor!
But damn he’s been working out.
“Hello, and welcome to my Youtube channel! I’m your host, the Friendly Fixer. Today, I’m going to talk a bit about threats…”
Hey you guys!! I just wanted to point out (though you probably know already) that HAMMERHEAD has been moonlighting on “The Flash”, apparently:
http://observer.com/2015/10/in-praise-of-king-shark-the-giant-half-man-half-shark-on-the-flash/
Though he apparently uses the stage name “King Shark”. And I guess he had some work done to his face (in that he’s not a hammerhead on the show). But boy does he look great!
People are talking a lot about how JJ now has video of himself threatening people in someone else’s house – I think it’s worth pointing out that this has yet to actually happen and, given how careful JJ has been about handling this somewhat delicately, I don’t think it will. My money’s on him giving an innocuous explanation for his appearance and Kay’s absence for the purpose of devaluing the video as potential evidence, then making whatever threats or deals he’s about to make through subtext.
