I think Harky would be better off not partaking of Arfa’s droppings.

“You insult me, chicken man? i am but only three score old! Beware – I have eaten beings greater than you for dinner!”
“But Madam Arfa – that’s 420 in dog years! And eat me at your peril. I’m full of chicken bones – deadly to canines.”

Hyenas aren’t canines. :| Don’t you dare associate such cute and friendly creatures with dogs.

Yeah, they’re not even caniforms. They’re feliforms, closely related to civets and mongooses.

I feel like we have this discussion every few months or so.

Gnolls typically are portrayed as hyena based, especially in D&D inspired universes. However, in many others, they’re portrayed as wolf-like.

The gnolls in this comic seem to be amalgamations of the two. Many seem to have both hyena and canine qualities combined, and allusions to both are made by characters in the strip.

No, Gondy is definitely a guy. Birdfolk have similar silhouettes to other humanoids, he’s been referred to as ‘he’, repeatedly, and he and Harky have been officially (though not in-universe) referred to as a same-gender couple.

He said something about it because he saw (as we did) a brief moment of deep emotional intimacy pass between the two… and on this point I share your annoyance with the response time of the tag search engine.

Does anyone else find it odd that she is taking advice from a vision that took the form of her people’s worst enemy. Even if it’s not actually Karmakat it doesn’t seem like anything that chose to take his form would have the best interests of her or her people in mind.

If it had been a bit more obtuse in it’s words it might have just been some gloating that let slip a bit of extra information. But it basically straight up told her to find the Winter Elves or her people would die.

Consider that Karmakat was a ‘good guy’ (I believe?)- if the Gnolls are the last of the Fuzzy Peoples, however that happened… I don’t imagine that a champion of anthroforms would want anthroforms to die out completely, even if the only ones left were his enemies- especially if he’s a ‘good guy’.

It may also be that, in the lexicon of Gnollish vision archetypes, Karmakat just represents doom or something. So she may believe that these are instructions that aren’t actually coming from Karmakat.

That’s how I interpreted it. Karmakat’s appearance was a showing that doom is coming, but the vision re-identifies itself as “just Karma” indicating that the words spoken are not from her old enemy.

of course, the vision fails to tell them that the peacemakers aren’t really a threat to the savage races since they separated from Gastonia, as long as the savage races aren’t threatening the peacemakers

tl;dr: PROPHECY FUCKS EVERYTHING UP ONCE AGAIN
