And since it’s dark when he says that he hasn’t figured out why it lights up, it means they don’t know its value. It also means that their story about how they got it is legit. Basically, the lie is “we’d be happy to pay you in ralds.”
It’s not being introduced? That was the lantern that Lectrus used to cover for the cultists and falsely implicate anyone in the lumber town who hadn’t converted.
He just might’ve been one of the adventurers to go berserk and put down. The official PR at the time claimed that the adventurers were traitors anyway.
Well, it gets you invested and shows you the concrete consequences of everything our heroes have done.
Things are better . . . sort of. There are still huge inequalities since some Sky Elves are now “Street Elves” who are turning to petty crime. The humans who live with the nonhumans look fearful of the savage races in their midst. Orcs are still slaves.
I think you meant to say ‘denoument’. The ‘untying’ and resolution of a narrative. ‘Denouncement’ would be making a formal accusation against the story of wrongdoing.
…Then again, if you think it’s wrong that the series is ending, well then… ;P
Wait, did I miss what happened to the Sky Elves home? I thought they just bugged out and most completely left, or are these Street Elves the ones who decided to stay behind and fight?
So they never found what happened/or got back to their flying city?
Yes the ‘street elves’ are the ones who stayed behind to fight as the Sky Elf kingdom or whatever left for parts unknown to stay away from the whole mess, meaning the ones who stayed behind to fight knew they would be left their with next to no way to return to their old home. Guess it didn’t work out for all of them.
Well, some people would dispute what the faction that chose fight did was brave. There was a huge debate over the ethics of the decision of Sky Elf Elders to to basically take their ball and find a new home.
Interesting that ‘we’d be happy to pay you in Ralds’ lit it up so much brighter than ‘you are good friends’…maybe Jemmington does think they have some honest affection for him?
You can like people and think of them as friends without also thinking that they’re good people.
So friends after a fashion. Just ones that will try and scam you or drive a hard bargain out of greed.
Most likely, for Goblarry and Goblily, “We’d be happy to part with money” would always produce the maximum possible amount of brightness from the lamp, whereas “You are good friends” is just an ordinary lie.
Honestly, these don’t seem to be your usual warrior race orcs. They seem more like stone age hunter gathers than anything else from what little we have seen.
I dunno, I’d say that the popular adoption of a policy that involves not being as violently abusive as you were before is at least a step in the right direction. The question is whether or not momentum will be maintained.
It’s just a bit tepid when you go from: “Humans, elves, orcs and dwaves can coexist.”
And then: “Don’t whip the orcs too inefficiently.”
Sort of like how inventing the cotton gin didn’t actually reduce the demand for slaves.
The only person who suggested that orcs were a matter for “coexistence” was Brunhilde, and she got killed by Ardaic for it. Both the major powers in the war treated them as slaves. Freeing them is a matter for a hopeful future.
Man, I’ve managed to read it all! I’ve been reading this for days!
I’ve never been so emotionally confused with a comic before, it’s like a weird relationship, but maybe even worse because it told me it’s gonna break with me, but not just yet.
Well, nothing to do but swing myself back and forth while I eat my nails waiting for updates after binging this whole crazy ride.
Well, the Sky Elves buggered off somewhere else in the world, so there is definitely the possibility that he made landfall somewhere else and is possibly trying to create his own kingdom or what not.
Or maybe his crew ran out of supplies, mutinied, ate each other and/or died of any myriad of seafaring deaths.
Sooooo… how long before the ‘savage races’ guys settle in as the new oppressive government and the next rebellion against them starts?
Seems to be the usual way of it, yesterday’s freedom fighter is tomorrow’s tyrant.
Gravy had the right idea, get his people as far away as possible from this shit show in the making.
Well, honestly depends how blended the new regime is. If the Wood Elves and Urban Elves are serious about running some things here, then maybe things might be different. Of course, navy blue is different from sky blue, but they are both still shades of blue, so who knows?
Ah, it lights up when people lie.
Yup, chapter 34 page 17. http://guildedage.net/comic/chapter-34-page-17/
Oh right, I completely forgot about that.
I bet lamp detects falsehoods. I’m guessing it gets brighter the less truth is spoken.
And since it’s dark when he says that he hasn’t figured out why it lights up, it means they don’t know its value. It also means that their story about how they got it is legit. Basically, the lie is “we’d be happy to pay you in ralds.”
and considering how bright it got …that was grand level lie …they probably would even kil lhim before pay even one rald:)
Most likely they simply don’t have any ralds…
Got enough for ‘servants’ and loot. Huh, guess slavery is still a thing.
This is odd. I wouldn’t expect a denouncement to begin introducing characters and plot hooks like this.
That’s Guilded Age for you.
It’s not being introduced? That was the lantern that Lectrus used to cover for the cultists and falsely implicate anyone in the lumber town who hadn’t converted.
I thought that was his lantern, but I never realized that Lectrus sold them out until now.
He just might’ve been one of the adventurers to go berserk and put down. The official PR at the time claimed that the adventurers were traitors anyway.
No, he was definitely a cultist.
I’m guessing it’s only to show the post-war effects on the common people of Akerra.
And that Orcs are still enslaved
Orcs never seem to catch a break.
The more things change….
STiLL can’t wrap my head around goblins bullying orcs.
This chapter is not a denouncement. That would be something else entirely.
**Denouement would be the word.

Guess it didn’t work out for all of them.
It’s kinda sad that the ones brave enough to stay and fight are basically destitute/homeless. Or at least some of them are.
Maybe it’s because they are friends, just not good ones?
They did give him something valuable, but only because they had no idea how it worked and thought they were ripping him off.
They could also be good marks/rubes, too. :P
Poor Orcs are still enslaved. My fav fantasy race in chains since the beginning and forever it seems… :c
Honestly, these don’t seem to be your usual warrior race orcs. They seem more like stone age hunter gathers than anything else from what little we have seen.
A lot of people not remembering .
Course, I didn’t remember that he sold out to the cultists, so I shouldn’t judge.
To be fair, it wasn’t EXPLICITLY stated, just strongly implied.
http://guildedage.net/comic/chapter-36-page-8/
I remember that lamp! Nice throwback.
“It lights up a lot when we talk, but we’ve never figured out why” is an excellent throw away gag. Nice work.
Throwback humor of the very best kind! XD
It’s sad that Goblawrence’s wisdom of when to punish the slaves is being so well-received.
I dunno, I’d say that the popular adoption of a policy that involves not being as violently abusive as you were before is at least a step in the right direction. The question is whether or not momentum will be maintained.

That isn’t Goblawrence, its GobLarry
And Ved is talking about Goblaurence. Goblarry has nothing to do with this.
Man, I’ve managed to read it all! I’ve been reading this for days!

Thank you for your work!
Orc slaves still a thing, guess that’s a bit of a reminder that things aren’t all flowers and hugs, ah well.
oh yeah, guilded age not predictable always entertaining
I was just reading from an earlier point, and discovered that Admiral Annunziata still seems to have escaped freely.
Any chance of a catch-up on his status?
If you treat the “ask an adventurer” things as official, he got away somewhere and won’t want to come back.
If you treat them as jokes, on the level of the alt-text, Taro probably had him executed a while ago.
