Panel Five is the most heartwarming image in the whole damn comic.

…ok, no way bandit can be an outside player. At least not one who is unaware that this really isn’t a game. Not with that kind of backstory and that kind of emotional response.
From what I see none of the players are aware of their true circumstance and all of the tube-characters have a past and backstory within the “game”.
Yeah Exhibit A: Byron and his “brothers” flashbacks.
still i hope Bandit is “real” too.one way or the other.
HR mentioned that the people around The Five have their experiences and dialogue translated in a way that makes sense within the context of the world. This whole sidestory could just be a cute little byproduct of that.

Since a comic update day,
Made my monitor fall prey,
To my heart’s “GOOD FEELS” spray?
Oh wondrous writers and artist, do not fret!
My less-than-coherent reaction I don’t regret!
Why, if any, I’d say it’s my best one yet!
But despite this short arc I still can’t pick,
Which character is my absolutely favorite!
(Though that last page nearly did the trick.)
To my fellow commenters you are the best!

Panel 1, for a second i thought Bandit was wearing a landshark costume.
No, no, the landshark costume is for Hollowed Even.
That’s where you hollow out the skin of a defeated enemy, and wear it like a costume to get even for what they did.
What? Gastonia isn’t exactly a NICE place to live.
