No, she doesn’t. Her… colleagues… have stopped and apocalypse, fought a god, smashed an interdimensional empire. Their best fighter is an elemental force, their leader is as brilliant as Alexander, and their strongman…! They are coming for her. They will find her. And then they’ll find you. You are f#$%ed.
Journalism: making crazy assumptions and finding evidence to back it up
Tinfoil-hatting: making crazy assumptions and yelling about it until someone acknowledges you
I hope she’s a journalist and not a hatter…
jiynx (and ahdok) – Shanna is one of the main characters in T. Campbell’s beloved (and now ended) web comic, “Fans!” – click on the link at right, T Cambell’s things, to get to it. It was (and still is) awesome.
See Bruceski’s comment, above (which to be fair, was posted after you posted this). To quote:
“http://www.faans.com it gets a bit weird and he likes to jump bits where it feels like important things happened, but it’s an old popular webcomic.”
…So, I think Shanna’s a character from that webcomic?
yeah, you’re right on the money Exal, this is going to be an interesting excursion. we saw the fans version of P&A, so should be an interesting take, esp. if we see the pre-aegis college-age faans again in this little corner of the universe. while im going to miss Faans, Quiltbag, P&A, and anything else he’s ‘ended’ (which in my opinion is a good way to write, works for many authors and keeps them from burning out) it will be nice to see what he does with this series without competition from other stories.
Jason (Amron)
It’s actually STUCK to her shoe. I was wondering if anyone else had noticed how shiny it is… Second to last panel has her standing with her feet together and whatever IT is still on her shoe. XD
If you guys hear this high-pitched, keening sound that’s just me. Squealing and kermit-flailing in utter delight at Shanna’s appearance in this comic. AND IN THAT STYLE TO BOOT!!!
YES! Even if this is an alt ‘verse, some of her friends could still show up. Please? This could be an alt that explores their continuity of there were no AEGIS….
If you’ll excuse some unasked constructive feedback…
After giving this page another read through, I have to say that the exposition in the first panel is way too heavy-handed. It’s so blatantly setting up her future encounter with HR’s technomancy that it’s practically a sign post. Starting off with something a lot more subtle would be much better.
Don’t discount the possibility that the exposition is a deliberate set-up to make us think she’ll discover the technomancy. Phil and T do love their subverted tropes.
I would love to point out 2 things.
1: That is actually what the real location of the… company that Hurricane is based on, looks like. I’ve been there. Google maps + drawing over?. 2: She has my last name. Yay.
Aw shit. This is looking fun right here.
Shanna! Good to see you again. (Well, technically, since this is an alt-universe of Shanna from Fans, we’re seeing her for the first time.)
Who knows what evil lurks in the heart of Blizzard? Only the Shanna knows!
That nose of hers is perfect for that reference. Double win.
But she needs a cape. scarf, slouch hat and twin .45s.

Journalism? Sweet. All we get these days is paparazzi.

Tinfoil-hatting: making crazy assumptions and yelling about it until someone acknowledges you

Looks like we might be in for a little…. fanservice
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaah!!!
Double-win!
You know somebody’s associated colour could be sepia and we’d never know it.
So, somewhere in Arkerra are sepia tubes with H. R. and Carol in them?
If so, I say we blow ’em up :P
Nice. Luvvin it.
Hurricane is screwed.
Or they’re gonna have another PC in a jar … shortly.
or perhaps we’ve already seen them in the jar – a pc all about books and the truth of history and whatnot?
Peer too deep into the shadows, someone might mistake you for a runner.
Whats that Chummer? Who told you there’s no unicorns?
There better be, or I paid too much for this focus component.
*squees out loud*
I would’ve settled for a press conference cameo, but this? This is 100x times better. At least.
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH SHANNA Yeah!
Who?
http://www.faans.com it gets a bit weird and he likes to jump bits where it feels like important things happened, but it’s an old popular webcomic.
wait, wait…they had a crossover with Knights of the Dinner Table….holy crap, that could be awesome.
Now it’s a full 4 for 4 for T crossovers.
Interestingly enough, I had to convince him to do this one.
I was always a fan of his efforts to share universes and characters in webcomics.
Ever consider adding Jenny Everywhere as a cameo, Phil?
Open Source character and all that!
But why?
She clearly can’t have been part of the initial plan for the comic from the start… And she isn’t even a good character. v_v;
not followin you, Sempi. Did I miss something?
Only six weeks? Man, it feels like it’s been years…
Time moves faster in computers.
Apparently.
This starts to make sense of the timeline on sepia-side. I’d been wondering how long this situation had gone on.
It does seem like it’s gone on a lot longer from the perspective of the Five.
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Freakin’ sweet. I was bummed when Faans ended…now more Shanna. Awesome twist.
How’s Shanna gonna get past security? Oh, that’s right. Where there’s a Will, there’s a way:)
sorry dear, magic IS real.
Is that gum on her shoe?
Ah. Note to self: close page and re-open if changing mind about making a comment.
Well now that’s just crazy talk. Bloody conspiracy theorists will believe anything. Like 9/11 being an inside job and the moon landing being faked.
Everyone knows the only true conspiracy theory is the Shadow Government controlled by Reptilian Shapeshifters.
What conspiracy? Everybody knows about those guys, where have you been?
i, too, accept our cold-blooded overlords.
By reporter, she means blogger.
Don’t be so cynical. There are still 3 or functioning newspapers still around. She might work for one of those.
She could be a TV reporter. Or a magazine reporter.
Or a time-travelling newspaper reporter, who discovers the events of today, and reports them on the front pages of yesteryear.
TV… reporter..? I’m not sure exactly what those two words mean when put side-by-side like that.
That nose nearly exited my monitor and hit me in the face!
No
Fucking
Way
…. I am so happy.
I know, right?
ditto
Fuck. Yes.
…who?
Suffice it to say that the Fan is about to hit the sh*t.
When she she finds out the truth, she just might lose it. Then we’d get to see the fit hit the Shan.
i say again… who?
jiynx (and ahdok) – Shanna is one of the main characters in T. Campbell’s beloved (and now ended) web comic, “Fans!” – click on the link at right, T Cambell’s things, to get to it. It was (and still is) awesome.

…So, I think Shanna’s a character from that webcomic?
Thank you. That was brilliant.
Nah. I’m thinking we’re looking at the game’s next “volunteer.”
Heeee, now wouldn’t that be something?
Yeah, how far is she willing to go to get the whole story?
DUUUUUDE! Fucking awesome right here!
…And yeah, she’s probably in trouble. Particularly if this is pre-mental breakdown build-back-up Shanna. Now there’s a mind ripe for plucking.
(Ashamedly, I can’t remember if Cochran was her maiden name or not.)

She is stepping on the most blinging slug I have ever seen.
It’s actually STUCK to her shoe. I was wondering if anyone else had noticed how shiny it is… Second to last panel has her standing with her feet together and whatever IT is still on her shoe. XD
Oracular slug? *giggle*
It’s not a slug, it’s THE BOUGH.
Just wanted to say this page is a perfect reveal.
If you guys hear this high-pitched, keening sound that’s just me. Squealing and kermit-flailing in utter delight at Shanna’s appearance in this comic. AND IN THAT STYLE TO BOOT!!!
Seriously… who?
Ditto. Anyone have a good explanation and/or link? Because I’m completely in the dark here.
Go read FANS!
OH FUNK IT’S HER.
No unicorn rides?!!
I just squeed. 8D
I don’t get it. :/
Sorry, my oldschool webcomics are limited to Sluggy Freelance. Get Riff into the comic, and then I’ll consider squeeing.
You just made my Monday a billion times better. *SQUEE*
Meh. Shanna was my least favorite of the Fans cast. The trope of the character searching for truth while constantly lying to herself always annoys me.
That’s a hell of a wall to find around a software company. I hope she Will have some backup.
I see what you did there.
Conspiracy theory: It’s Bandit.
glad im not the only one that thought this was bandits player.
although with that nose, maybe its best?
Hmmm. Interesting. According to the caption on the bottom left corner of the comic, Friday was Chapter 19 page 1. And today is…Chapter 19 page 1.
**TIME TRAVEL!!** **ALTERNATE HISTORIES!!** Conspiracy theorists, unite!
… The more effort I put into uploading/scheduling posts ahead of time, the more typos I make.
I’ll fix this later.
While you’re at it, you might consider checking chapter 8, page 4….
Oh HELL YES!!!
This is gonna be good! :-D
I saw that nose in the thumbnail image and I thought “Naw… couldn’t be…”
One of those times it’s good to be wrong.
Love the alt text on this one. It’s exactly what I was thinking! :-D
Heh, that looks just like the entrance to Blizzard HQ in Irvine, minus the giant Jurassic Park gates.
YES! Even if this is an alt ‘verse, some of her friends could still show up. Please? This could be an alt that explores their continuity of there were no AEGIS….
If you’ll excuse some unasked constructive feedback…

Don’t discount the possibility that the exposition is a deliberate set-up to make us think she’ll discover the technomancy. Phil and T do love their subverted tropes.
Either way, it’s still much too obvious a set-up. Subtlety works better than a sledgehammer when it comes to story telling.
Usually we get complaints that we’re being too confusing or vague.
So we try to mix it up sometimes, I guess.
I would love to point out 2 things.
1: That is actually what the real location of the… company that Hurricane is based on, looks like. I’ve been there. Google maps + drawing over?. 2: She has my last name. Yay.
You can’t keep Shanna away from a good story… even if its in an entirely other comic!
I recognised the style by the 3rd panel.
Damn you Mr Campbell.
Is there anywhere these guys / gals don’t get into?
When i read this page i threw my phone across the room because it was too much for my brain to comprehend
