Plus, there was the whole “Dead and buried, and now I’m back again” thing. So, basically, no more special than anyone else who’s died and then risen a few days later.

Loud, noisy bar; hearing-impaired Bragg shouldn’t be able to hear a thing Byron’s saying at normal volume.
Byr: “Hey, buddy! Are you following your doctor’s orders?”
Brag: “Oh yeah, to the letter. Told me to get myself a hot momma and be cheerful!”
Byr: “Bragg … he said you’ve got yourself a heart murmur, and to be careful.”

This is funny, but I’m going to address it seriously anyway:

It’s not reflected in the font size, since we don’t want to overload the art, but I would say Byron knows Bragga well enough to speak at the right volume.

I hope this doesn’t escalate into a fight. I actually like Brag.

Also, I smell opportunity for recruiting more adventurer’s. They’re going to need them since Harky started his own recruitment drive among the Savage Races.

I don’t understand. Why is there always such an antipathy towards national, official armed forces ?
:-/ That comic trope is … well … the same as it is in our world, I guess. *sighs and shrugs*

P.S.: On a side note, that’s the one and only point to sting me a bit since I began to read the comic. SO no biggie.

It does make a kinda sense that in a world where “adventurer” is a valid career choice that said adventurers might hold some antipathy for army life. They’re pretty much opposites in terms of structure and obligations.

Well … yeah, I guess. Except that, as Braggadoccio says, adventuring means you don’t know if you’ll hold a job or get paid well enough to eat well – which, in Bragga’s case, must means a great quantity ^^.

P.S.: I remember you somewhere in there put a link about your current avatar. Could you remind me what was the comic’s name, if you please ?

I think you could safely say that our Armed Forces today are much better treated than those that existed in medieval times. Additionally, consider the context that the military was used in those times. It was probably just as likely to see them being used to quiet the populace as protect them. Plus, they tended to rape and pillage a lot more back then.

You think there’s actually meat in a Meager Meal? The free “prizes” inside include rickets, beriberi, scurvy, goiter, and pellagra. Collect them all! I’m not sure which has more zeroes in a row, the nutritional information panel on the box, or the Gastonian armed forces budget request.

Continuity Error Nitpick: The background of panel 3 implies that Byron and Brag have moved about 12 feet to the right while hugging. If Brag merely stood up, it should be the Taxidermaid’s hips(?) in the background.

Brag’s eyes are missing in the first panel, this is fine in and of itself because this is standard for that range of scope for the artwork, however…I can see his nostrils, and to me…they look like little eyes, right over his mustache.

    cannot unsee.
