you could argue that that does make her worst though. She feels guilt because she knows it’s wrong but did it anyway.
You could argue that the Tube people are an accident and that they probably signed releases and all that legal stuff and that not telling authorities was to protect them in this unprecedented situation.
it’s a slim argument but it’s still there but Ferris was straight up murdered. She didn’t call the police she’s an accessory after the fact and thus just as guilty as HR. But, where he seems broken to the point of no longer knowing right from wrong she still knows what she did was wrong but she did it anyway…. so she’s worse
I don’t agree. She’s guilty of covering up HR’s crimes, yes, but she was not a party to any murders. My understanding is that the Five agreed to the tubes, as you wrote, but the problem is that HR and Carol cannot seem to wake them up. So, they’ve been hiding it, so as not to have the world crash around them, and they’re trying to fix it – or at least they were before HR decided he needs to become a god.
So all this time, Carol was trying to do good, and to protect HR so he could fix the problem(s).
From her perspective, things have flipped upside down literally overnight and she hasn’t figured out how to deal with the reality change yet – she’s still in automatic “protect HR” mode. What she does in the coming days (comic time) is what will prove her character – does she go all-in with a murderer, or does she do something to stop him (on her own, or via the authorities)?
Personally, I ain’t gonna make moral value judgements on either of them. It ain’t my style.
I will, however, note that the both of them have made poor choices from the perspective of self-interest. Choices that are going to have grave consequences.
I hope there’s no bad blood even after the email. It would be nice for Ferris if they could give him a hand with his next job, perhaps in the form of a glowing reference. It would be a real leg up for him if he wants to continue in software development. H. R. didn’t really pick his brain while he worked for Hurricane, but now I think we can all see what Ferris is made of- and any way you slice it, Ferris is cut out for this kind of work. A shame he’s resigning, but I guess it’s better than getting the chop during downsizing. I just hope his departure doesn’t leave the company shorthanded.
It’s a safe bet that H.R. saw that Ferris came in handy with the Kingdoms of Arkerra project, and is sorry that Ferris had to split. And, in the end, a part of Ferris will remain with the project.
Let us hope, for the good for the project, that Laura does not lose her head! After all, more responsibilities means more backbreaking work. That is, if HR does not cut her short.
I’d hand you a C-plus for participation, at least; long distance relay punners are important members of GA’s body of readers. Muscle in those puns, even if they are corny to the bone! (or bloody and dark, as is the case today)
Past few strips have been pretty rough on my tear ducts to be honest. I liked that guy. Now I wanna see an HR bitchslapped. +1 if you agree. Although I don’t know who would have the balls out audacity to challenge a man on the verge of becoming an ancient one level psychopath… Another thought: anyone else think that ol’ HR went off the total deep end right about the time he got all spiffy clean and front page prettied up? Nothing screams sociopathy like a well dressed head of a blizzard parody company, amirite?
Wanna see a guy bat-shit crazy enough to walk right up to HR (who IMO sometimes reminds me of William H. Macy, dunno why) and bitchslap him in the face and walk away as if nothing happened? You’re looking at him.
“Now I wanna see an HR bitchslapped. +1 if you agree.”
Hell yeah ! +1
“Nothing screams sociopathy like a well dressed head of a blizzard parody company, amirite?”
Well, you can be CEO for a Blizzard like company without being scruffy and messy. That is sooo cliché.
Tired of giving a damn? Scruples and ethics holding you back? Call Dr. Callous for a consultation, maybe a moralectomy is the solution that is right for you!
Disclaimer: side effects may include but not limited to, psychosis, delusions of grandeur, homicidal urges, eldritch knowledge, and being a regular poster to /b/ on 4chan.
I wasn’t sure about the turn this arc would take but it’s a nice twist on the “world outside the Matrix” subversion which has almost become a trope itself.
Also, the alt text for this comic made me laugh out loud.
Oh Carol. Oh Carol.
I am but a fool. Darling, I love you though you and HR treat me cruel.
You hurt me. And you make me cry. But Phil and T make you leave me, I will surely die.
I’ve found my favorite guildie character. And she’s in Sepia world on a road paved with good intentions.
well yea! now they’re short staffed because of him, and need an extra hand helpin out with things before they wind up dead in the water! after all, he was such a vital part of this company, they have to make sure they don’t go to pieces over it!
After reading this and giving thorough consideration to the weighty ethical ramifications of Carol’s villainous skullduggery and the extent of both her and H.R.’s depravity, I have to say that I’m completely mesmerized by a power cravat.
Very curious about what it took for her to accept the switch from ‘I’m transferring most power to you. This isn’t who I wanted to be.’ back to ‘NOW WE USE THE HUMAN ARM FOR DIABOLICAL PURPOSES WAHAHA!’.
I think she just convinced herself that the diabolical ends must justify the diabolical means.
I look forward too seeing how the “virtual reality” concept may further develop, in the storyline – as perhaps, that company’s basement department will depart further into [Rod Serling voice] the virtual zone.
HR, you are a bad person. :(
and Carol is worse.
She actually feels guilt. I’d say that makes her better. Still a bad person, but better than HR.
you could argue that that does make her worst though. She feels guilt because she knows it’s wrong but did it anyway.

I can’t decide which one of the characters from your avatars are speaking… help…
Personally, I ain’t gonna make moral value judgements on either of them. It ain’t my style.

… No. That wasn’t a pun. ¬_¬
Guess life just isn’t ferris.
Life’s a show, and we all play our parts.
And when the music starts,we open up our Hearts
Well thanks to HR, the “parts” thing comes quite easy to Ferris now.
I’m gonna go on a limb and say that I think most of us saw that. No need to dissect the joke.
Got to hand it to the writers; I am looking forward to where this is headed.
We’ll just have to put one foot in front of the other and follow the story.
To be fair, Guy was probably smashed when that email got sent.
Some people just go to pieces over workplace conflicts. Especially when cuts have to be made.
Still, I feel sometimes that a piece of him will always be with Hurricane Software.
He’s just feeling totally disjointed, I’m sure.

You guys ever run outa puns? You are cracking me up. The forum is nearly as enjoyable as the webcomic. don’t stop.
That’s not very punny.
I’d hand you a C-plus for participation, at least; long distance relay punners are important members of GA’s body of readers. Muscle in those puns, even if they are corny to the bone! (or bloody and dark, as is the case today)
Life isn’t Carol either. What of it?
That last panel is so ironic, I’d keep it away from water so it won’t rust.
Hahaha! Day, made!
I don’t get it…

Heh…one better, bitchslapped with his new trophy hand…
Just play your guilty feelings on your face as if that’s how dismayed you are that true-believin’ Ferris “resigned”…
I bet poor Carol is doing her best not to think about how things are way over her head now. :-(
Maybe HR will give her a hand with those guilty feelings.
Moralectomy!

Ok, the side effects didn’t sound too bad until posting, let alone regularly posting, on 4chan. Thats a procedure to avoid
eh? eh? See what I did there? Give her a “hand”? Maybe Ferris’s… nevermind.
I wasn’t sure about the turn this arc would take but it’s a nice twist on the “world outside the Matrix” subversion which has almost become a trope itself.
Also, the alt text for this comic made me laugh out loud.
I need to figure out how to view the alt-text while using the browser on this tablet.
Chrome on Android 4.3 if anyone has suggestions?
I’m using Firefox for Android, and I press and held on the comic page and the alt text was above the sharr/save/etc options.
Think Carol is in her own state of denial at this point.
More like she’s doing her best keeping insanity at arm’s lenght. Guess Ferris isn’t such a helping hand in that matter.
That’s right, Carol, keep telling yourself you’re “mature” for not calling the cops and ending this right now.
“On the bright side, I remember Ferris saying he wanted to lose at least twenty pounds.”
Call me crazy but I think she needs an eyepatch.
She’s the new Number 2.
Information? You won’t get it.
And this is how monsters are made.
Not usually by some singular transformation, but in the bit-by-bit compromises that slowly kill one’s conscience.
wow, so, we’ve veered COMPLETELy into “psychological horrorlandia” now haven’t we? It’s awesome, but I am so creeped out right now.
Psychological horrorlandia is awesome ? Ugh. You’re one sick puppy, you know ?
Ferris Beuller’s Day MURDER.
No sir.
Ferris Beuller’s Day Offing
Oh Carol. Oh Carol.

You hurt me. And you make me cry. But Phil and T make you leave me, I will surely die.
I’ve found my favorite guildie character. And she’s in Sepia world on a road paved with good intentions.
There ought to have been an “if” between But and Phil.
resisted urge to write that as Phil’s ButThere’s an if between Phil’s but, Cheeks.
Here’ sanif between Phil’s butt, cheeks.
Here, A, snif between Phil’s butt cheeks.
everyone goes nuts while Ferris takes a day off.
… at the beach.
well yea! now they’re short staffed because of him, and need an extra hand helpin out with things before they wind up dead in the water! after all, he was such a vital part of this company, they have to make sure they don’t go to pieces over it!
Ladies and gentlemen, Panel 4.
THAT is a thousand-yard stare.
Maybe when we next return to the wacky hijinks of H.R. and Carol, we’ll see if she can go the full mile.
Not sure about the stare, but her lip, it be a’quivering
Animated gif, anyone?
Lip twerking?
I’m kinda sure Carol is Syr’nj. How that is possible when our heroes seem to be in the Arkerra all the time? I have no idea.
Syr’nj is one of the tube testers. Green tube, if I recall correctly.
Panel 4: Yup, time to upgrade from water to something a bit stronger.
Looks like she’s about to snap on panel 3. Guess I would too if I saw the mangled corpse of the only employee that appreciated me.
After reading this and giving thorough consideration to the weighty ethical ramifications of Carol’s villainous skullduggery and the extent of both her and H.R.’s depravity, I have to say that I’m completely mesmerized by a power cravat.
just right for a dainty day, after burying corpses for the boss?.

I like Carol.
She in over her head and sinking fast…but at the right moment..she will be quite pivotal to HR
Bueller? Bueller?
