i fully expect penk to encounter one of the peacemakers and be like “look, stab/hack/slash/bash/etc.. me all you want, but i would much rather speak with you as a person…”
“and an angle of the Lord came unto me, snatching me up from my slumber. and took me on higher and higher still until we moved betwixt the air itself. and he brought me to a vast farmland of our own midwest, and as we descended cries of impending doom rose from the soil. one thousand, nay a million voices, full of fear.
They are clearly OP and deserve a nerf. I don’t pay 15$ a month just to be beaten by the fotm class, that always happens to be not the class I’m playing. Clearly all Hurricane devs are playing druid.
Not unless you saw the Live version done on NBC sometime in 2013. Heck, you might even be be less than a year old, if that’s the first place you picked it up from!
This arc feels like it’s heading towards a character death, and that has reminded me of something that had fallen by the wayside a long time back:
We never found out what happened to Bandit. How she survived being trifurcated by Byron. WHAT/WHO SHE IS.
It’s possible she’s a player character. The other new recruits almost certainly appear to be. So if one of them buys it, and there’s something like respawning in this game, how exactly are they going to explain it this time?
Although if Fr’nj goes…she’s Syr’nj’s sister. I’m guessing players of this came can’t create a character that is literally SIBLING OF THIS WORLD’S HERO. Which would suggest that she’s an NPC. So many questions…I really hope we start getting some answers at some point…
IIRC we got confirmation a while back that Bandit is just a normal player. Assuming Kingdoms of Arkerra is like most MMOs, when your character dies, you just come back at a respawn point, or your ghost shows up in a graveyard and you have to run back to your body, or something. So she just respawned like normal. With that in mind the only weirdness of the whole Byron thing is the teamkilling – even then, it’s entirely possible that ‘arena’ areas are truly global PvP and you can kill anybody in them.
If I’m right on that, only the tube folks were at all weirded out by Bandit’s respawn, because they’re not aware that Arkerra is a game and because (probably) respawn is not a thing for them.
Best hasn’t come back. Brunhilde didn’t come back. Rachel’s sisters didn’t come back. Except as a spirit, Ashok and the other cultists haven’t come back. With the exception of Bandit and four out of the Five (and Harky, if you count his super-regeneration), NOBODY in this world has straight up come back from the dead, that we’ve seen. Is every single person we’ve seen die, aside from Bandit and the Five, an NPC?
Best was shlorped into another dimension – he may have died, but if he did, he died outside Arkherra, so he wouldn’t respawn there.
Everybody else might be NPCs, or they might be PCs who went permadeath due to the Five’s influence, PCs who were playing permadeath just because they wanted to (they were playing permadeath to begin with, they thought they should because they had a plot-related death, etc), respawned but never rejoined the plot, or, more likely, some combination of the above.
Oh, and, of course, Best is also one of the Five, so if they’re flagged for permadeath because of their nature, he’d be caught in it just like the ones who are still in the current plot.
It’s also been stated that the rest of the Peacekeepers are regular PCs, but being near the Five influences them to be more ‘real’…their players just don’t notice when they’re AFK that something was weird when they were playing.
So we haven’t been led to believe that the adventurers are anticipating this attack (because I don’t think a head of houses member would be there if they were), but we’ve got a sizable, powerful group present and Fr’nj almost treats the enemy’s approach as an expected occurrence. Is she just being unusually calm?
Well I think it’s plain to see what’s happening here.
They’re here to mow grass and chew bubblegum.
And the Savage Races have never known the sweet, jaw-aching pleasure of gum.
…Hm. Now I feel the need to see Auraugu getting his mouth stuck trying to chew through an unholy wad of gum.
Auraugu’s foil would be peanut butter.
To quote Duke Nukem: “Your ass is grass and I’ve got the weed-whacker!”
Gastonia really doesn’t have a prairie anymore.
Hmm… Perhaps it won’t be Scipio that Penk kills, but his elven sweetheart?
I don’t know. Seems too obvious.
who says penk has to kill anyone?
i fully expect penk to encounter one of the peacemakers and be like “look, stab/hack/slash/bash/etc.. me all you want, but i would much rather speak with you as a person…”
The pre-mortem dialogue that Scipio was having a few pages ago says someone has to die. All Goblaurence said was how.
Not sure if I support the savages’ grassroots movement.
The Gastonians should just tell them to sod off.
No, this is a good way to weed out the weak among them.
These seedy puns are treading into seriously corny turf.
I suppose you’re right. How about we just nip this right in the bud?
I agree, I don’t think you all have grass-ped the seriousness of the situation.
Thats a triple entendre people, pay attention!
i can dig it
I can’t root for it, I only caught the double.
I believe your misunderstanding most likely stems from your rush.
This string of puns is certainly spreading out like a load of fertilizer.
I’ve heard the screams of the vegetables,
watching their skins being peeled;
grated and steamed with no mercy –
how do you think that feels?
Like salad?
Salads are only for murderers.
Carrot juice constitutes murder…
Greenhouses: prisons for slaves.
“and an angle of the Lord came unto me, snatching me up from my slumber. and took me on higher and higher still until we moved betwixt the air itself. and he brought me to a vast farmland of our own midwest, and as we descended cries of impending doom rose from the soil. one thousand, nay a million voices, full of fear.
and terror possessed me then.”
Nice to see I wasn’t the only one that thought of that :-D
“…an angle of the Lord…?”
Do you think the Lord had an ulterior motive for showing you this vision? Perhaps He had a different “angle” of approach in mind?
Well that’s just handy.
Don’t you mean, heely?
So it begins.
I wonder if Ardaic will fight. He looks a touch ‘bureaucratic’ in that panel.

Huh. Druid as early warning (device) class. Like Gangler said, that’s handy!
They are clearly OP and deserve a nerf. I don’t pay 15$ a month just to be beaten by the fotm class, that always happens to be not the class I’m playing. Clearly all Hurricane devs are playing druid.
“Honorted”?
Hyes!
Both your avatars are incredibly fitting.
Ahahahahahah kill me
The fields are aliiiiiiive, with the sound of marching… (Yeah, I just dated myself.)
Yes, but are you taking yourself home to mom and pop. That’s the real question.
Not unless you saw the Live version done on NBC sometime in 2013. Heck, you might even be be less than a year old, if that’s the first place you picked it up from!
To somewhere between 10 and 100 years old, give or take. That line’s been part of the collective pop cultural consciousness for some time now.
Bah! Can’t trust the grass you walk on not to grass you out to the authorities
Damn, there go the Savage Races ruining Squinting Day for everybody.
My significance sense is tingling…
This looks like a job for Aquaman.

So bandit is just like, the ultimate hard core RPer?

Maybe it’s a permadeath server, and only the tubed people get to reincarnate.
Which, if that’s the case, again returns us to the question of how Bandit came back.
It’s also been stated that the rest of the Peacekeepers are regular PCs, but being near the Five influences them to be more ‘real’…their players just don’t notice when they’re AFK that something was weird when they were playing.
Beware the grassy gnoll!
…your warning is just a little too late to help JFK…
And that is why Dogs and Cats always walk on the pads of their paws.
So there is such a word as “grinching” ?
i hope you arent planning to kill her D:

She has the best spot check ever.
